A Demon Lord’S Obsession novel Chapter 169

Chapter 169: Sylphy’s Letter Part 1

\~Hugh’s POV\~

-Months later-

I sat in my carriage looking out the window. My guard rode on horses close by.

whenever my eyes would look away from the book in my hand, I could see them loop around the carriage in unison.

My eyes turned back to the book. Something to take my mind off the boringness of the ride. It was about recent innovations in architecture.

My father was speaking about making an accessible port near the cliffs. That way we don’t have to go through Ampool whenever we wanted to get back to the mansion.

While my eyes looked over the page it seemed all we would have to do is either sculpt the cliff or build a pulley system.

Val: “Your highness, the manor is up ahead.”

My attention switched instantly from the page to the world around me.

I looked out the window and saw it. It’s been some time since I’ve seen the town and the white stone building sitting atop it all.

As the carriage was making it around the courtyard, my parents and the staff were standing, waiting for me.

Two of my men dismounted and opened the door. once out I ran over to them. Picking up my mother in a hug.

My father wrapped his arms around me as well. My little sister Emelia came and I hugged her tight.

Emelia: “Hugh, I’m so glad you're back, we’ve missed you here.”

Hugh: “I know I’ll make it apparent to come visit more often. I just had some things to take care of first.”

We separated and my mother came close putting her arm around my waist guiding me to the doors.

As I walked up the stairs, the rest of my men either dismounted and stood guard or took their horses to the stable. Once inside, I saw my sister Rose holding her daughter, Charlette. I walked over my hand reaching, letting the little one grasp my finger.

Hugh: “She’s grown so much since the last time I saw her, hasn’t she?”

Rose: “I know, we’re both happy to see you’ve returned.”

We both shared a glance and laughed. We hugged and I held little Charlotte. Her features resembled her mother, her eyes, hair, and face. Even the two horns on her head were the same, the way she smiled was adorable. I looked around and then at my parents, Emelia stepped inside after staying behind for a moment.

“Where’s Sylphy, I know I’m a little late but she couldn’t have left already.?”

My parents shared a glance with Rose and my mother spoke, in a soft comforting tone.

Rose: “She sent a letter, saying she couldn’t come this year..”
