A Pigeon Pair: Sweetheart, Let's Get Married novel Chapter 14

Everly felt overwhelmed by his deep voice.

She ignored the fact that he was staring at her from a close distance. Her dark eyes flickered, but she sighed in her heart.

Sure enough, he was a difficult man.

Thinking about it now, she still felt a little regretful. She shouldn't have knocked on his room door on impulse then.

No matter what, she got a responsibility.

She tried her best to keep her voice even, "Mr. Maverick, I ... I'd like to apologize to you. I was a little drunk and lost my head in anger. Can we let this go?"

"You think I will let it go as you wish? Miss Everly, do you know how many people there were just now?" Maverick looked at her amusedly.

Everly didn't know what to say.

"They are all my friends. Of course, your brother is also here. Do you think they will believe I'm not good in bed?"

"What do you want me to do?" Everly asked in frustration.

Maverick looked at her without saying anything.

Everly was terrified by the coldness in his eyes. However, they were so close. The man kept her thumb on her chin, fiddling it in a casual manner, giving her a tingling sensation.

She squirmed, but Maverick went harder to confine her under his body.

"Mav..."

"Answer me. Do you think I am impotent?" He seems to be persistent on this question.

Everly thought that he might be sick.

They were adults. Why did he keep asking her this childish question?

She really wanted to say, "You should go to your woman for an answer."

However, she didn't want to fight with Maverick anymore. She just wanted him to let her go quickly.

She just wanted to get out of this damn place!

Therefore, she restrained her temper and changed the way she spoke. "Mr. Maverick, my words were meaningless. True, there was indeed a room full of people. But everyone knew that I overreacted. Why should Mr. Maverick stick to such a meaningless topic?"

Maverick pursed his thin lips slightly. His condescending gaze made Everly very uncomfortable.

He was a lofty judge. And if she did not obediently answer his boring question, she would be sentenced to capital punishment.

Everly was amused by the thought that flashed through her mind. She could not help but say, "Besides, we're both adults. How would I know you are good or not?"

Which meant she didn't do anything with him. Why did he keep asking her this question?

...

Everly wasn't sure if Maverick was getting angrier.

However, she felt Maverick's eyes were black holes that she could not escape. But if she were sucked in, she would get crushed.

Everly swallowed. All her negative emotions had now turned into panic and uneasiness.

Just as she was hesitating about how to speak, the strength on her chin suddenly increased.

Everly felt a little painful and grunted.

Coldly, the man said word for word in her ears,

"You don't remember?"

He said the three words very slowly and then paused as if he was sniggering. Everly could tell that he was mocking her. The contempt in his latter sentence confirmed her guess.

He said, "Are you pretending? I think I've underestimated you. Are you gonna play hard-to-get with me? This seductive game is out of date. Do you want me to teach you? Or try some other method?"

Everly heard the drone of his deep voice. As the man spoke, she could smell the tobacco and alcohol on his breath. His smell was like an arrogant invader, commandeering every and every cell of hers.

Everly's heartbeat accelerated a little.

She didn't know if it was because she was scared, or ... something else.

But at this moment, she was blanking. She didn't know what to say.

That's why she held it back for a long time before saying, "I didn't seduce you."

Maverick kept the confining posture. They could feel each other's breathing. And this sudden silence seemed even more deafening.

This feeling was weird. Everly didn't know how to describe it.

Intimate?

She didn't think so. How many times had they seen each other?

Moreover, this man's gaze was cold.

Just as she thought of this, the strength on her body suddenly lightened.

Unexpectedly, Maverick let go of her. His clothes and trousers were stained with red wine. But he was tall and upright. He was so calm that no one would feel he looked like a mess.

But Everly was different. The two sponges in her bra seemed to have been soaked in sweat, which felt rather chilly now.

However, she couldn't reach out to fix this.

As soon as the strength on her body disappeared, she immediately stood up.

Maverick glanced at her, his gaze lingering on her chest for a moment before he expressionlessly looked away, "Miss Everly has a hot temper. Next time, let me take a good look at how capable you are."

After saying this, he casually grabbed the jacket on the side and left the room.

The pressure in the air seemed to disappear.

Everly breathed a sigh of relief.

Actually, she couldn't figure out what Maverick meant.

She just kicked the can down the road and did this to Maverick, but he ... didn't do anything to her?

Maybe... For the sake of her brother?

Speaking of the devil.

Seeing Maverick leave, Hendrix immediately pushed open the door and entered.

The light in the room wasn't good. When Hendrix entered, he turned on the crystal headlight above their head.

The sudden light was a bit dazzling and glaring.

Just as she was musing about what Maverick said, she blankly turned around and saw that it was Hendrix. Only then did she regain her senses.

"Hendrix..." The corner of Everly's mouth twitched.

How could the thing easily go away?

Now it was her brother's turn.

Hendrix stared into her eyes and said coldly, "I need an explanation."

Everly's clothes were wet. Hendrix frowned. He didn't ask anything else and directly brought his sister into his car.

He drove the car himself. Before Everly could fasten her seat belt, she heard her big brother's unfriendly voice. "What exactly is going on between you and Maverick? Do you... do you know who he is? You even dare to provoke him?"
