A Pigeon Pair: Sweetheart, Let's Get Married novel Chapter 38

This week, Maverick wanted to see whether Everly could do this job after taking it from Jayden. Moreover, he was indeed very busy and didn't have time to think about anything else.

Now, he seemed to realize this feeling resulted from the fact that he could see she worked around him every day.

What was wrong with him?

He seemed to have never had such kind of feeling before, but it was so obvious that he couldn't ignore it at all.

Could it be because of that night five years ago?

"I'm just helping you untie the bow tie." Everly's weak voice interrupted Maverick's thoughts. She said, "Let go of me."

Because of the height difference, Everly was right close to Maverick's neck. As she spoke, he could feel her soft and warm breath on his Adam's apple.

Maverick felt her breath was like a kind of electric charge which surged through every particle of his body.

His eyes turned incomparably gloomy as he subconsciously held onto her slender waist more tightly.

When Everly moved, he said right away, "Don't move."

Everly, "..."

"Mr. Maverick..." As she said, she tried to push him away, "Don't do this. You're too close."

Maverick's eyes lit up as he raised his hands and put his arms through Everly's armpits. Before Everly could figure out what was going on, she felt her body became light, and then she found she was picked up.

She cried out in alarm. In the next second, she felt that she was put on a cabinet.

With legs in the air, she moved her ankles by instinct.

Her knees were pushed apart at this moment. In a daze, Everly found Maverick pushed apart her legs and was standing before her.

This posture was weird.

They were just a boss and his secretary, but what they did now looked like what a couple would do.

Thinking of this, Everly was startled.

She had dated men before, but it was five years ago. Actually, those kinds of things were bygones. And they disappeared like the dust in the wind. Therefore, although she was 26 years old, she was still as innocent as a young girl who only dared to hold a man's hand when dating.

And now ... for what Maverick was doing, she was at a loss and her face almost went brick red.

"Do it."

Maverick looked calm, but a closer look would reveal that his eyes were dark and glowed with green light. He only said a phrase.

Everly froze, "What do you mean?"

"Aren't you going to help me with my bow tie?" He asked.

Only then did Everly get what he implied. Maverick continued, "I don't like bending over. Can you get it now?"

Everly, "..."

Well, she knew Maverick was noble and didn't want to bow down. But wasn't this posture weird?

It looked they were flirting with each other.

Everly glanced at the handsome face that was close to her, and found he had fine features. His dark eyes and their corners were catchy, but she didn't dare to look him in the eye.

His eyes were like the abyss, and there was something inside that was glowing with light. If one looked at it for another second, he would be drowned in it and would never be able to come out.

She tried to move her fingers, and then looked up at the bow tie. She was so eager to untie it that she made a mistake when she was about to succeed. Therefore, she failed again.

She didn't dare to pull it too fiercely. If it was broken ... it would be embarrassing.

The more anxious she was, the tighter the bow tie was.

Moreover, the smell of Maverick was overwhelming at her nose. Everly had tried her best to adjust her breath several times, but she couldn't ignore it at all.

Two minutes passed, Everly found it was even harder to ignore the smell.

Her palms were covered in sweat.

Maverick was still as cool as a cucumber. However, his eyes became darker and he kept staring at her. Therefore, Everly felt that there were two X-rays above her head.

Her skin was as white as snow. Looking at her from this angle, Maverick could see her white and tender neck. Her collar was open, and he could see more in it.

She wore pink bra, and she had great boobs. They looked white, pink, and especially tender.

Maverick could feel his blood was drumming in his temples, so he forced himself to look away.

"Mr. Maverick, it's a little troublesome." She whispered, "Well, don't move. It'll be fine soon."

"Did I move?"

"..."

"What are you nervous about?" He gave a half smile, but Everly did not dare to look up at him. He whispered at her ear in a deep and low voice, "Are you afraid of me?" He never said in such kind of tone at meetings. Instead, he was always scrupulous.

"No."

"Your hands are shaking. Are you sure this won't make it worse?"

"No, I'm not used to being so close to a man." This was the truth. Everly cleared her throat and pressed her index finger hard. Finally, the hooked side of the bow tie was untied successfully. She heaved a sigh of relief, "It's done."

Maverick's eyes were still fixed on her face. Although she was trying to restrain herself, her ears turned red.

Somehow, seeing her red ears, he was in a very good mood.

He reached out to fiddle with that bow tie. As expected, he took it off.

With bow tie in hand, he didn't walk away.

Everly wanted to go down, but she didn't dare to move. She propped her hands on both sides of her body. After a long while, she whispered, "Mr. Maverick, go away, please."

"Where should I go?"

"I'm coming down."

Maverick looked at her and suddenly reached out. Everly felt she was hugged. Then, he carried her down from the cabinet as if she were a child.

"What are you shaking your legs for? Stand firm." His tone was meticulous.

"I'm not shaking." Her voice was as weak as a mosquito's, and she even wanted to retort.

She was anxious inside. Somewhat, it was completely different from the feeling she had when she was in the elevator. She could not tell what it was, but she felt hot and dry.

He couldn't breathe or speak, because when he moved...

The smell on him would permeate the whole world.

...

It was in the marketing department of Lamont Group.

A woman who was about 35 years old rushed in excitedly with cell phone in hand.

Because she was too excited, she walked into her colleague. She couldn't afford to apologize. Instead, she grabbed that female colleague on the hand and showed her the phone, "Guess what I saw just now? Holy shit, that secretary to the CEO is really a skank. She actually seduced Mr. Maverick upstairs! I took all the pictures. Oh my god! Is this the hidden rule? How scary!"

"What are you talking about? Be careful. If Mr. Maverick hears this, you'll be fired!"

"Come on. Mr. Maverick doesn't care about the gossip. Everyone talks about that skank on the forum. Who cares? But we can't underestimate her. Doesn't Mr. Maverick have a fiancée?"

"His fiancée hasn't been his legal wife yet. Besides, for someone like Mr. Maverick, apart from his fiancée or future wife, he would have more women. To be honest, I'm also willing to be Mr. Maverick's lover. He's so handsome."

"In your dreams!"

"However, as a libertine skank, Everly must be very good at sex."

...

The people of the marketing department gathered at once.

Only in the corner, a woman in a white shirt glanced at the crowd, then frowned in disgust, and didn't join them.
