A Pigeon Pair: Sweetheart, Let's Get Married novel Chapter 41

Maverick stood at the entrance of the clubhouse, the evening breeze blowing on his body.

He heard the soft voice of the woman on the other side of the phone. It even sounded sweet. He gritted his teeth and thought, "What exactly did this woman do to him?"

What was the matter?

It was so late...

He was somewhat speechless.

The wind blew past his ears, but it couldn't compare with her voice. Through the phone, he could hear her breathe softly and steadily.

The tip of Maverick's tongue touched the corner of his mouth, and he bit back the words.

...

Half an hour ago…

He met Lawrence in this club.

The Bevell family and the Lamont family were relatives.

Lawrence was the young master of the Bevell family and Lucas's older brother.

According to family relationship, Lawrence had to call Maverick cousin. However, for Maverick, Lawrence and Lucas were completely different.

In the early years, Lawrence and Maverick had stayed in the army together.

Lawrence had a quite special identity. He had stayed in City C for more time in these years, but as long as he had a mission, he would still leave as soon as possible.

Lawrence had always risked his life, but the Bevells didn't approve of him. Maverick knew that he had been risking his life to look for someone for so many years.

This time, Lawrence returned to City C and met Maverick.

They went to a private clubhouse frequented by them before and had some drink. Lawrence was tall and big. He was different from Maverick who was reserved in a straight suit. He often went out at any time, and sometimes he would work as an undercover agent. His skin was not as white as a person who worked in an office all year round.

He was 195 feet tall, and his skin was tanned. His hair was cut very short, but his aura was as powerful as Maverick's.

If Maverick was considered cold, Lawrence was filled with darkness.

He was a real rough guy, but he was straightforward, so his relationship with Maverick was close, more like a friendship of life and death.

"Were you injured in the last mission?" Maverick asked.

Lawrence scratched his hair in a carefree manner. "Maverick, these past few years, without you, I've never been overtaken by others. It's just a small matter to be injured. I was just careless."

Maverick looked at him and laughed without asking further.

However, Lawrence was somewhat surprised by his silence.

It was Maverick who asked him out today. Right now, the Bevells were looking for him everywhere. He even had to avoid the surveillance cameras wherever he went. So, he managed to come here for Maverick's sake. Why did he bite his lip all night?

"Maverick, do you have something to tell me?" Lawrence always respected Maverick.

In his opinion, Maverick was an invincible person, without any weaknesses.

Of course, there was one weakness now.

Five years ago, Maverick suddenly had a daughter, but he protected the child very well and not many people outside knew about her.

"How long are you going to stay here this time?" Maverick questioned him.

"I don't know yet, but I've got news. If I'm sure it's true, I might not leave." In front of him, Lawrence always said whatever he wanted.

Maverick raised his eyebrows, "Have you got any news about her?"

Lawrence nodded. His hands on his knees clenched again. The anger on his face could not be concealed. "Damn, I've been searching outside for so many years. I just heard a few days ago that that girl changed her name and has always been in City C. If I find her this time, I will definitely kill her."

Maverick didn't say anything.

When Lawrence was a freshman, he had a first love, but that girl was a sophomore in senior high school.

Lawrence was a Little Demon. That girl probably had a completely different personality from him. It was said that she was a mild girl. For some reason, the two of them were together.

The second year of high school was the key to the girl, and dating seemed to have a direct impact on that girl.

After that, there were a lot of misunderstandings between them. After the girl went to college, for some reason, they separated.

It was said that after they separated, Lawrence couldn't find her.

Afterwards, Lawrence searched around the world for her, but it was said that the girl had been tricked into Africa.

Lawrence performed missions everywhere so that he could find that girl.

Maverick showed little interest, but he had a problem, like a lump in his throat…

Speaking of Lawrence's first love, the girl in high school, he changed his mind and whispered, "Your younger brother, did he have a girlfriend when he was studying?"

Lawrence froze for a moment before he remembered something. "Yes, he had a girlfriend in high school, and they were together for several years." He stretched out his hand to stroke the back of his head and thought for a moment before saying, "It seems that they went into a relationship when they were sophomores. Later on, the two of them were admitted by the same university and were together until they were juniors. They were together for five years. However, Lucas was unfaithful. Later on, he betrayed that girl and dated her good friend who played tricks on him. Being a two-timer, he got what he deserved."

Maverick's eyebrows twitched.

What he wanted to know seemed to be close to him.

But five years?

He counted the time and found that it was indeed five years ago, when he had just met Everly, who had lost her love and was drunk.

Everything matched up. However, the heavens played tricks on people. As time went by, people who were supposed to meet and people who were not supposed to meet, were all involved together.

He didn't say anything, lit a cigarette, and blew out the smoke.

It was quite interesting. Did he sleep with his nephew's ex-girlfriend?

Lawrence was not as calculating as those who did business. As soon as he started the conversation, he would say whatever he thought of.

"Speaking of which, I remember that girl seems to be form the Farley family. Lucas betrayed her ... And, he was beaten up by Hendrix a few times, but Lucas was unable to oppose him. I could only mediate between them. Now that Hendrix runs a big business, don't you have frequent contacts with him?"

Maverick said, "Yes."

The topic was started by him, but he had no desire to continue.

It seemed that his guess was correct. It was Everly, Lucas's ex-girlfriend.

Lawrence said a few more words with a casual air. Then a call came before he hurriedly left.

Before leaving, Maverick thought of something and stopped him, "Lawrence."

"Maverick, what is it?"

"What's that girl's name? Give me the information. Since she's in City C, I can help you find her."

Lawrence thought for a moment and said, "Alright, then I'll have to trouble you. However, even if I give you the information, you might not find her."

Maverick dropped his cigarette ashes. "I can use any method you can't use. Don't worry, I'll help you find her. I'll definitely find her."

After Lawrence left, Maverick sat alone for a while and smoked three cigarettes. His throat was full of nicotine, but he still couldn't hide his anxiety.

He shook his coat and reached out to touch his collar. Only then did he think of the bow tie.

It was that woman who took it off for him.

The man held the small tie and cursed inwardly when he remembered that she had pressed against his chest, delicate and obedient.

After leaving the clubhouse, he didn't get on the car.

Then he pulled out his phone and dialed the secretary's number.

Everly waited for a while, but didn't hear Maverick speak. She asked, "Mr. Maverick..."

"Come here now. I'll send you the address." Then, he hung up the phone.
