A Pigeon Pair: Sweetheart, Let's Get Married novel Chapter 50

Everly had never been kissed by anyone like this when she was sober. Plus it was a French kiss.

She was nonplussed.

She had just clarified to others that there was nothing romantic about Maverick and her, but now, they were necking.

She could feel her lips numb while thinking to herself how a slap in the face this was.

Thinking of this, Everly was aware of that she couldn't continue anymore.

She couldn't let Maverick do whatever he wanted and thus she began to resist.

But it was hard for a woman to win a man in terms of the strength. Maverick's muscular arm caught a hold of her waist, so it was no use struggling.

Everly even hurt her palms.

Everly didn't know what to do. When she was in a trance, Maverick rushed in. He reached out the other hand and held the back of her head.

Maverick moved forward and Everly leaned back.

Step by step, she leaned against the wall in the end. However, Maverick had already propped her back up against his hand to protect her from aching.

Maverick's kisses flooded in with aggressiveness. He literally took every opportunity to invade Everly's mouth and drove her senses away.

At the beginning, Everly could make some noise, but later on, all of her voice was swallowed by the man.

Maverick was like a hungry beast that had just been released from a cage and caught its prey.

Everly was not a good kisser.

But she knew that this kiss dripped sexual desires.

Everly didn't come to her senses even when the doorbell rang. It took about ten seconds for her to react. The buzzing sound around her ears faded and she could clearly hear the tinkle of the doorbell.

Finally, she felt she could take a breath of fresh air which brought her back to her senses.

Again, Everly took all her strength to push the man away from her.

Maverick seemed to have calmed down this time.

Everly succeeded. Although she did not push him away after a second try, at least he did not hold her so tight anymore and stopped kissing.

However, Maverick still clung to her body and Everly could even feel his breath.

Back to her senses, Everly felt more embarrassed than the moment they were kissing.

They were both sober, but they had done something crazy.

With his forehead against hers, Maverick breathed in and out, spraying his unique masculine hormone onto her face.

She took a breath but didn't dare to draw a deep one like him.

As a result, Everly went short of breath.

She was annoyed, 'Did he have any idea what he was doing?

Did he know it was inappropriate for them to be like this?

Did he really want to sleep with her?'

" ... You..."

"Don't move." Maverick interrupted her while she was ready to speak. It was a husky voice with obvious sexual desires. Everly could feel her heart pounding in her chest.

She didn't know why, at this moment, it was as if she was controlled. She stood still as she was told.

Her mind was in a turmoil and she couldn't find a way out.

The doorbell rang three times and finally stopped.

Everly thought that it should be Jayden.

...

They stood in the position for a long time. When Everly felt that her palms started to perspire, she knew she had to say something.

They were adults.

She actually felt good just now.

After all, the man who kissed her was Maverick, a handsome and successful guy.

Nevertheless, they shouldn't have done it.

They were not a couple. He was her boss. They went too far.

She took efforts to pull herself together and said, "Mr. Maverick, did you ... did you just ... did you..."

"What?" Maverick looked down at Everly, who was still in his arms.

For all his look with exhaustion, his eyes were bright and his face blushed. He looked charming.

In a good mood, Maverick said gently, "It was my fault. I was impulsive. I am so sorry."

Everly was stunned.

It was hard to get it.

She wanted to talk to him about the kiss, but he apologized.

Impulsive?

What did he mean by this?

Everly was bashful, but now she was disappointed.

Her boss said sorry to kiss her out of impulsiveness.

She should feel relieved, shouldn't she?

But she still considered that it was just a pretext of an asshole.

Apparently, he took advantage of her.

"Well, fine."

Having cursed him in her mind, Everly looked extremely calm. However, anyone could sense a hint of sarcasm in her voice. "It doesn't matter. Anyway, we are grown-ups. It's fine. I even cried and groaned I was having a sex with you as you asked. It is just a kiss this time. It means nothing."

"What are you talking about?" Maverick was angry at the moment.

What?

Was she annoyed?

It was really so hard to please her!

Everly pushed him away and strode towards the table beside. She took out two napkins and wiped her mouth fiercely in front of Maverick. Then, she threw them into the garbage directly.

Perhaps bucked up by her own reaction, Everly was more assertive when she talked to him again.

"I thought you got what I mean. You said you were impulsive to kiss me. Why can't I say the kiss is nothing to me. I was in the United States for years. A kiss on the cheek for me is just etiquette." She straightened her back and added, "I am open-minded. I won't take it too seriously."

She was about to leave after saying that.

Maverick looked furious at this moment. It seemed like a storm was coming.

"Maybe you think you are smart, but in fact you look stupid."

Everly thought "screw you" in her mind.

He was taking advantage of her and calling her stupid.

Her phone rang before she could argued him back.

The phone call alleviated the tension between them.

Everly answered the phone without seeing the number on the screen.

She just wanted to leave this room. Yet Maverick, who was tall, stood right in front of her. She wanted to take another look at the number now, but felt that it was not proper because Maverick was staring at her. Anyway she felt uncomfortable to do anything now.

She simply put it to her ear and said, "Hello?"

It was a man. Everly didn't recognize his voice.

"Everly?"

"Yes, this is her. Who is this?"

Everly wasn't sure who that was, so she took the phone down to see the number.

It was the man who had been on a blind date with her before.

Before she could put her phone back to her ear, the man's voice came from the receiver. "Didn't you save my number? Or did you delete me? I'm Stanley. Are you at leisure? I got two movie tickets for today. Would you like to go with me?"

Maverick was just standing in front of her.

So he almost heard all of it.
