A Pigeon Pair: Sweetheart, Let's Get Married novel Chapter 72

'You still want to get off?'

Maverick, however, remained motionless, his long, knotted fingers still knocking on the steering wheel.

Perhaps it was because it was so quiet inside the car that even the slightest noise became clear.

He didn't open the door, but the man in front of the windshield was still there. He could tell from the shape of his mouth that he was saying "Everly".

Maverick remembered that Lucas seemed to call her the same.

Everly...

It hurt him much thinking about this. He felt like he was tormented by a nightmare.

It was the feeling of jealousy.

Maverick hated this feeling. His expression became even darker, and his tone became colder, "Who is he?"

His question was extremely unreasonable.

Moreover, he spoke in a cold tone.

Thinking about their conversation and that disrespectful kiss, Everly still felt distressed.

"What does it have to do with you? Hurry up and open the car door."

"What do you mean?" Maverick sneered, but he no longer looked at the man in front of the car. He turned to look at Everly and said, "Do you think the shadow on the window was dark enough? What if he saw us kissing intensely?"

Everly's ears turned red, but she was irritated out of embarrassment, "Maverick, don't go too far! Who kissed you? It was you forced a kiss on me."

"It's all the same. It matters that you have reactions." He seemed to have thought of something. After sweeping his gaze around her, his eyes landed beneath her lower part and paused. Suddenly, he came closer to her. The scorching air of Maverick's breathing was oozed around her neck. "Your legs are shaking all the time. Then you say you have no reaction."

It took Everly a minute to understand the last sentence.

With her heart pumping intensely, she felt aggrieved.

It was as if her grievances were stuffed inside her.

She was the kind of person that she would flinch when encountering great difficulties.

Perhaps it was a kind of shamelessness that was tempered in the business world these past few years.

Therefore, Everly immediately said, "Whatever you say. But Mr. Maverick, don't forget that you are the one who provoked me first."

"What?"

"Whatever. Open the car door."

She was probably anxious, so she slapped the window and thudded.

It hurt actually. Everly's palm shrank a bit, and a trace of endurance flashed across her face.

Maverick frowned and discovered that her palm turned red.

His eyes flickered for a moment, and then he suddenly fell silent.

Everly thought that he would say something else since he would not be defeated just like that.

However, she didn't expect that he would open the door.

Everly couldn't wait to get out of the car. The moment the door was unlocked, she pushed open the door and jumped out.

As soon as Stanley saw Everly, he immediately greeted her, "Everly."

Everly's look wasn't very good. She felt somewhat helpless about Stanley's warm greeting.

'We are not too familiar with each other, are we?'

'He calls me Everly.'

This intimate greeting made her somewhat unaccustomed to it.

Everly quickly said, deliberately accentuating the word. "Mr. Ford."

'He is that kind of person like Mr. Neil that I can't get along well with.'

"Everly, what a coincidence. You're back from a business trip?" Stanley completely ignored what Everly called him just now and was still very enthusiastic. However, as he greeted Everly, his gaze landed on the car behind him.

"Is that Mr. Maverick? I'm sorry just now since he used two parking spaces, so I can't park."

Stanley said to himself, "Did I disturb you?"

Everly's expression was extremely unnatural.

Maverick's words reminded her.

'Is this car's window so shadowy that anything can't be seen from outside?'

In turn, if Stanley saw it, no matter how much he admired Maverick, he probably wouldn't be so enthusiastic.

Everly was still a little stiff. After a while, she nodded her head and said, "I just came back not long ago."

"What are you doing in the hospital?"

"There are relatives in the hospital."

Stanley knew that she had a son. After all, when they went on a blind date, both parties must know well each other.

Stanley asked, "Is your family hospitalized? Is it serious?"

"It's my son. It's fine." She thought for a moment and said.

Stanley was expressionless, "Shall I go see your son later? I wanted to say that last time, I like children quite a bit. Although we haven't been dating for many days, I feel that there is fate. I meet you today when I am going to visit my cousin..."

The car beside him suddenly let out a loud sound, which interrupted Stanley's words.

...

Everly was also shocked by the sound of the horn.

They looked over. It was Maverick who honked. Three pairs of eyes met through the windshield.

Maverick's gaze was fixed on Everly.

He held a cigarette in one hand, his sharp eyes narrowed slightly, and he held the steering wheel in the other. His expression was ambiguous, but there was a trace of disdain in his eyes.

A moment later, he honked again, then raised the hand with a cigarette gesturing them to move aside.

Maverick meant they were in his way.

Everly felt that he did it on purpose.

She controlled her temper and said to Stanley, "He should be leaving now. Let's move aside."

Stanley followed Everly to the side and said, "I've read a few reports about Mr. Maverick and it is said that he's rather cold. Looks like it's true. Are you tired from working for him?"

"No."

'Cold?'

'He now acts like a wayward kid.'

'Besides, he is so unreasonable. He also likes to tease his female subordinates. Such a person, who is in charge of a company, is a beast in human clothing. But few people really know about him.'

The car quickly brushed past them.

Only then did Everly see that Maverick lowered the window.

Her heart trembled slightly as she frowned. 'He must have heard what I said to Stanley.'

This thought flashed through his mind, and the car flew away. The tail gas from the car rushed against their faces.

It showed the arrogance of the car's owner.

Everly couldn't help but cough twice.

Stanley's expression wasn't too good either.

...

Maverick did hear everything.

'A blind date? Did she go on a blind date?'

'Son? What did the man say? He likes her son right?'

'So everyone else knows about it.'

'Great.'

'I'm the last man on the earth knowing this.'

Thoughts flashed through his mind one by one, and he stepped on the accelerator even harder.

The car was in the business district, but it seemed to be driving on a highway. Its speed soared to 120 yards.

It was as if he wanted to die.
