A Pigeon Pair: Sweetheart, Let's Get Married novel Chapter 75

Everly's eyes flickered with embarrassment.

It was easy for her to blush. She looked shy, which proved there was something between Maverick and her.

Everly didn't know what to do. She knew that she could never manage to deceive Hendrix. After all, they grew up together.

Besides, Hendrix knew everything about her.

"... Hendrix, it's not what you think."

"The relationship between Maverick and I is not like what you think. There are some misunderstandings. Anyway, I'm going to resign."

"You are going to resign?" Hendrix laughed.

"Yes."

"Because of your relationship?" Hendrix said bluntly, "I know you very well. You always have a strong sense of self-esteem. You would never resign easily for something that didn't happen. So, the reason could only be your relationship."

Everly couldn't come up with anything to refute him. She felt panic as if someone had firmly pointed out her weakness.

But she felt unwilling to admit it.

"Of course not."

"Really?"

"Hendrix, why would you be evil, too?"

"Too?" Hendrix laughed, "Everly, what evil thing did Maverick do to you?"

Everly was speechless.

Alright, she finally knew what capitalists were like. They had operated their insidious skills of negotiation on her. She didn't feel herself eloquent anymore. She could only be dumb in front of Hendrix. If Hendrix continued to ask her like this, she was afraid that she would say out her true feelings.

However, there was something that she was unwilling to admit, nor did she dare to admit it.

"Let's not talk about this anymore. I can solve my problems by myself." She took a deep breath and said, "Didn't you mention finding Edmond's biological father last time?"

Hendrix raised his eyebrows, "You want to do it now?"

"Yes."

"Why did you suddenly change your mind?" Hendrix exchanged his overlapping legs and looked at Everly. "You've always resisted finding Edmond's biological father."

"I've thought it through. Edmond will eventually grow up. Even if he doesn't want to admit his biological father, he should know who his father is. I can't be too selfish. Sooner or later, I need to face these problems. It's my problem to avoid it all the time, not Edmond's."

Hendrix felt surprised. "Well, it seems that you have learned something from Maverick. He does have the ability to change one's mind.

Everly didn't agree with him. "Hendrix, don't make fun of me and don't think too highly of Maverick, OK? It has nothing to do with him. It's because of what happened to Edmond this time that I changed my mind. If you make fun of me again, I'll go away right now."

Hendrix tried hard to repress his smile. "But if it were not for Maverick's daughter, Edmond wouldn't have experienced this."

"Hendrix!"

"Alright, alright, I'll stop. However, there is one thing I still have to say." Hendrix then stopped being slightly arrogant and cynical. He said seriously, "Whatever your relationship is right now, as your brother, I suggest you not fall in love with him."

Everly's heart sank slightly.

Of course, Hendrix, who knew how to read faces, had captured all her subtle expressions.

Hendrix sighed in his heart, too.

He hadn't been worried about this problem before, so it seemed that he had been too careless?

But Everly had just worked for Maverick for a short period. Why would she...?

Everly wasn't the kind of woman who would easily fall in love with someone.

But when he thought of Maverick who was so attractive, he felt that it was reasonable.

"Everly, I don't think you're not a match for him. You are the best in the world. It's just that Maverick is different. He's not as perfect as he looks. He needs to burden a lot, sometimes stifling. I don't want you to live a complex life like him."

...

Everly didn't know what the "burden" meant.

But at this moment, she felt that Maverick had thought too much.

'How could I develop any relationship with Maverick?'

'We lead different lives.'

'Even though we have kissed each other before, that's because we are all adults. It's normal for us to be impulsive sometimes, but it has nothing to do with love.'

'Yeah, that's all.'

'And it's better for me to stay away from him.'

'The Mansions have treated me like this just because I work for Maverick."

'What would they do to my son if I get closer to Maverick?'

'So, I should keep away from him.'

Carolina had waited anxiously at home for 24 hours.

However, she still didn't receive the news she wanted.

The last call was from Miley. Miley sounded jealousy and unsatisfied. She said, "Carolina, we have underestimated Everly's ability. Maverick did have our information checked and knew it was true. But he didn't say anything nor did he do anything to Everly."

Unlike Miley, Carolina never said everything out.

She knew how to suppress her feelings.

But that just made her more uncomfortable, almost suffocating.

'Why?'

'Why would Maverick defend a bitch with an unbearable past?'

'Because of her, Candy is now in hospital.'

'Besides, it's easy to tell that she is taking advantage of her son to get closer to Maverick. Why would he be OK with all this?'

'I don't understand. Doesn't Maverick care about Candy most?'

Carolina had sat for hours as if she was possessed.

She still felt furious. She suddenly thought of something. She took out her phone and changed her number before making a call.

As soon as the call went through, Carolina instructed, "There's no need to wait any longer. I'll have things arranged. I want you to get things done for me tonight. As a reward, I'll let you work in my father's company, but I have another condition."

There seemed to be a moment of silence, "What's your condition?"

Carolina's eyes flashed with malice, "After you get everything done, find a few sick men to teach her a lesson. You know what I mean."

...

Hendrix had a dinner party at night.

After he finished his work, he intended to contact Maverick. He felt that it was necessary to have a talk with Maverick about Edmond and Candy.

To his surprise, he met Maverick at the Glory Club.

Maverick must have come here for fun because together with him were many other rich young men.
