A Pigeon Pair: Sweetheart, Let's Get Married novel Chapter 162

Everly chatted with Edmond for a while, and then she went upstairs to pack up some clothes for him.

She thought that since Candy's birthday was coming soon, she should prepare a birthday present for Candy.

But Candy lacked for nothing and she didn't know what she could offer Candy as a gift.

Edmond's birthday was also the day after tomorrow. What gift should she prepare for him?

When she was in the US, she would present Edmond with a model he liked every year. But now, Maverick gave Edmond a lot as if he wanted to give all the models to Edmond at once. It was true that blood was thicker than water. They had the same preferences.

Everly was a little distressed. She couldn't take Edmond out as it was not peaceful outside now.

Maverick was also distressed.

It was the first time he had encountered such a situation.

He had thought about how to communicate with Edmond many times before. Their previous exchanges were pretty good so he was sure that Edmond liked him.

However, he still couldn't speak out some of his thought deep in his mind.

Candy had gone to the bathroom. Maverick and Edmond were in the living room. But Maverick, who had always been successful in the business world, was now a little stiff. He squeezed his hands for five minutes and couldn't say a word.

He kept looking at Maverick.

Something suddenly occurred to him. Edmond was his son. No wonder he had always felt a sense of familiarity before.

Edmond looked like him much when he was young. Maverick felt warm in his heart.

Edmond was also looking at him with his big eyes full of trust.

Maverick was softened by Edmond's gaze. He let Edmond sit on his lap. But Edmond was a little unhappy. He struggled and said, "Uncle Maverick, I'm not Candy. If you hugged me like this, I won't look like a man."

Maverick laughed, "You are still young. It is normal."

"No, I am a man. Mommy won't hug me like this in the past."

"Why?"

"Because it is overprotection. I should be the one to protect Mommy."

Hearing that, Maverick felt sad, "How is your life in the US?"

Maverick had discussed that topic occasionally before, but they had never talked about it seriously. However, Edmond was still young, so he couldn't understand the deep meaning. He told the truth directly, "I don't like the US, but I have lived there for five years. Mommy has to work and take care of me. Although there is a maid at home, Mommy is very tired. So I hope that a handsome man can marry and protect her."

"Has your Mommy had admirers?"

"Yes. Many," Edmond was proud of that. Maverick just asked casually. But Edmond's answer made him a little flustered. Edmond continued, "But they are all foreigners. Mommy said that she will take me home in the future. She won't marry foreigners. I don't like them either. Mommy is so beautiful. Only you are worthy of her."

Maverick was quite satisfied. But it was not the main point. He asked, "There are many admirers?"

"Don't have to be jealous. Mommy doesn't like them."

"You know what jealousy is?" Maverick raised his eyebrow.

"You like Mommy very much, right? I know it. My Mommy is a kind person. Uncle Maverick, your taste is good."

Although Maverick admitted that Everly was good, when Edmond was boasting, he laughed out loud, "I know. I will take good care of your mommy and you in the future."

Edmond nodded vigorously, "Then you have to work hard."

"Can you tell me something unforgettable in America?"

Edmond tried hard to think about it and said, "There's nothing unforgettable. I don't like the food, as well as the children there. They said that I am a bad child without a daddy and don't play with me. They always take my things away without my permission. No matter if it's a boy or a girl, they all look down on me. They think that I am a weakling. I will be strong and defeat them in the future."

Maverick could sense Edmond's unwillingness and grievance in his words.

Tears were welling up in his eyes.

The feeling was hard to describe.

He wished he could travel back and tell everyone that Edmond had a father and no one could look down on him.

But no time machine allowed people to travel through in reality.

He hugged Edmond and gently kissed Edmond on the head, "You are so brave, powerful, and will be your mother's pride. Thank you, Edmond. I will take care of your mother in the future. Thank you for being by her side all these years."

His words were filled with emotions.

But a child, as young as Edmond, couldn't understand completely. He just felt that Maverick was a little strange today.

It seemed that Maverick was a little stiff.

Edmond even reached out his hand, patted Maverick's shoulder, and comforted him, "Well, I trust you, Uncle Maverick."

It was not uncle, but the father.

But he couldn't call Maverick father now.

...

On the way back to Maverick's villa, Everly felt that Maverick's expression was somewhat strange.

However, Edmond and Candy were fine.

She guessed that Maverick did not tell them that he was their father.

She felt it was a little funny. Even if Maverick was an omnipotent man outside, he was also an ordinary person at home.

In face of two five-year-old children, Maverick would be timid.

It seemed that she had to tell Edmond something at night.

At the villa, things were prepared by the servants. So Edmond and Candy could quickly come back to their rooms and play.

Maverick was answering the phone. Everly contacted Hendrix and told him that she would live with Maverick for a few days.

But Hendrix asked, "I've met our parents. The man you mentioned was Maverick?"

Everly had been busy recently. Moreover, she had just confirmed that she was going to be together with Maverick. She had not told Hendrix about that and felt a little embarrassed now, "I did not mean to hide it from you. I did not find the time to tell you."

"I didn't expect it to be him. Are you sure?" Hendrix asked.

"Yes."

"Dad hopes that you can take Edmond for a DNA test. I know what you are thinking. But Dad is right. The test is necessary."

Everly thought about it and said, "Edmond doesn't know yet. Let's talk about it later. I know what I'm doing. Let's solve the urgent problem first."
