Everly was a little stunned.

Maverick gently pressed the corner of her lips with his hand. His gaze was soft, "Why don't you continue? You are not angry now?"

It made Everly feel like an unreasonable child, though the man didn't show any disgust. She asked, "What do you mean?"

"You don't have to worry about anything. You can just be yourself. You can say anything you want. You don't have to beat around the bush. Because you are my girl. Do you understand?"

These words were like chocolate wrapped in colored paper.

It was so sweet that she was deeply touched.

"You... Don't you think I am just a nobody?" She pursed her lips and looked at Maverick with watery eyes.

Maverick was a smart person, so he immediately got what she meant.

Actually, he felt that Everly was a proud little woman.

Everly repeated those words over and over again. She carefully thought about them. Then, like soft bubbles, they spread and filled her heart. It was magical and she felt secure.

Everly was angry and said, "What do you mean? Do you really think she is prettier than me?"

Everly realized that she was being self-contradictory. So, she added, "Right. She is prettier than me. In a word, she is better than me in everything."

Maverick was amused by her being grouchy and said, "Baby, you are so cute. Alright, it doesn't matter whether you are beautiful or not. Do you remember what I told you a long time ago? I said I had many choices if I wanted someone more beautiful than you to make fun of. But the fact is, I only want you."

Joy flashed across Everly's eyes.

'It seems that I have gone too far.' Everly thought.
