A Pigeon Pair: Sweetheart, Let's Get Married novel Chapter 180

Everly knew all the sordid things that Carolina did behind her back.

The situation didn't get worse and Maverick had made Carolina pay the price. Therefore, Everly decided to move on.

She didn't want to get involved in the mess.

Today, she met Carolina. And there was an imposing man beside her.

Everly recognized him. It was Gabriel Croke, the oldest son of the Crokes.

She used to seek sponsorship in the company so she knew many famous people in this field. And Gabriel was among one of them.

Gabriel was a very famous and outstanding young businessman in the country. He had his own skills in doing business.

Different from Maverick, he only did domestic business. And unlike Declan and Alex, he was clear about what he wanted so he had developed a large enterprise and was influential in the country.

Everly knew that other than the Rice family and the Kahl family, the Croke family also had huge power in City C. The Croke family was not related to the issues about Maverick. However, Carolina had been seeing Gabriel. What did this mean?

She was a little worried. Maverick was already exhausted now. If the Croke family also went against him, he would have to fight the three great families.

Everly stared at Carolina and Gabriel. She was not good at hiding her emotions. People could tell her real thoughts through her expression.

Carolina did not expect to see Everly here. However, she felt superior with Gabriel beside her. She looked at Everly and sneered. It was provocative though she didn't say anything.

Gabriel was handsome and extraordinary. He also saw Everly. Gabriel knew her because there had been many gossips about Everly.

He only took a glance and quickly looked away. He walked towards the entrance of the club. The manager had come out to welcome him. Carolina followed behind him, swaying her hips.

They didn't seem to be intimate. But would two strangers come to this place together? Their relationship was self-evident.

Everly was really worried.

"Isn't that the oldest son of the Crokes?" Dean came over.

Everly recover from worry and said, "What?"

Dean asked, "Don't you know him?"

"No."

Dean was surprised and said, "I think he should be a friend of your husband's. I have heard people saying that the relationship between the Kahl family and the Lamont family is not good. Isn't that Miss Kahl?"

Everly thought that as an artist, Dean should be cold and arrogant. And he should not be interested in rumors. But as he asked those questions, his image in Everly's mind totally changed. It was too unexpected to her.

It was probably human nature.

He was not a person of importance to her, so Everly didn't think much and didn't want to tell him the things behind it. She replied casually, "I don't pay much attention to these things. I won't have time to learn painting if I work on those business issues."

Dean wasn't stupid. He could tell that Everly didn't want to talk about it. He smiled and nodded, "With Mr. Maverick as your backing, you can do whatever you want. Everly, you are lucky. I can tell that he loves you very much."

Everly accepted his flattery and smiled.

Then they entered the club directly.

Lucus hadn't come so they sat down to wait. However, half an hour later. Dean apologetically told her that Lucus had something else to do and was not coming.

Although Everly was a little disappointed, she could understand.

They were a bit hungry now. Since Lucus was not coming, Dean suggested that they went to have some food. Everly failed to find an excuse and thus agreed.

During the meal, Dean went to answer a call. Everly took her handbag and went out for a bathroom.

By coincidence, when she found the bathroom, she heard Carolina talking on the phone. Carolina probably didn't notice Everly and said, "I know. I am trying. Don't expect success overnight. She can do it. So can I. And..."

Carolina felt someone was standing behind her. She suddenly turned around and saw Everly. She was shocked and her eyes widened.

Carolina hurriedly said to the person on the phone, "I have to go now. Bye."

"Everly, how can you eavesdrop on my call? Shame on you!" Carolina put away her phone and glared at Everly.

Everly was irritated due to the sudden scold. She said with a cold face, "This is a public bathroom. And you were talking too loudly. I am not eavesdropping on you. Should people cover their ears when they see you on your phone? I am not interested in your conversation. You don't need to be so nervous."

Carolina sneered, "You are not interested in it? I'm afraid that you are already worried to death because Maverick has been surrounded by enemies. Do you think you can remain so cocky after I get married to Gabriel?"

"Why should I be cocky in front of someone who only knows playing tricks? If you think I am annoying, maybe it is because you have low self-esteem. And I fear I can't help you on that."

"Everly, stop bragging. Maverick is almost over."

"If you can't get him, you would rather destroy him. Right?"

"Right. I have been by his side for so many years." Carolina became upset as she spoke, "I helped him take care of his daughter and didn't ask for any promise. Everly, do you really think that he is a good man? Don't be silly! Maverick is selfish and self-centered. He only cares about himself. You won't be better than me. You should be careful. Besides, you have a child. Do you think a man like Maverick can be loyal to one woman for a lifetime?"

Everly was stunned due to this question.

What Carolina said was women's biggest concern in a relationship.

But no matter how much Everly cared about it, she would not show it on her face.

She suddenly felt bored. Carolina had a happy life. Why would she get herself into trouble? What did she want?

She was probably mad.

Everly didn't want to argue with her and turned around to leave. But Carolina didn't want to let her go. She stepped forward and blocked her way, "You are worried about it, aren't you? There are many outstanding women around Maverick. How can you be sure that you are the one for him?"
