A Relentless Pursuit for Love novel Chapter 41

Chapter 41

Be friends?

Sage tugged at the corner of her lips, supported her head with her hands, and replied, “Hmm…let’s see. You’re twenty-seven this year, and you’re of Romani descent. Your father trained all your siblings harshly, save you, the youngest. He adored and pampered you. You were kidnapped at nine, and you almost lost your life. Your father mobilized his entire clan to save you, and you were able to return home unscathed. But, your seven brothers were not so lucky. Some were hurt, and some had even died during that mission. All to save you.”

Unfazed, Yoel broke into a grin. “You looked me up online? It seems to me Miss Sage, you are rather interested in me.”

He was about to move closer to Sage when she continued, “You first had sex when you were sixteen. You did it with a French woman who was five years older than you. Since then, you have only dated older women. At eighteen you were known as a notorious philanderer-changing partners like you changed clothes. You changed them at least once a month on average. By this time, I think you would already have at least had a hundred partners. So tell me, am I your new prey?”

“Philanderer? That’s a first.” He behaved as if he had not known that she was mocking him. Resting his chin on his hand, he chuckled, “I like the title.”

Sage could not wrap her head around how Jace had become good friends with a casanova like Yoel. One was a womanizer while the other was uptight. Could it be that they were both looking for someone to complement them?

*I don’t think you understand what I’m trying to say. Let me put it in simpler terms, I’m not interested in you.”

Sage then said, “As a philanderer, you should live up to your reputation. You should go with someone who is willing to play your game. Someone like Sienna. She should be able to understand you. Doesn’t that sound like a better match?”

“Hold up, Sienna and I are totally different. Yes, I’m a playboy, but I don’t just sleep around with anyone.” Yoel felt as if he was being insulted.

Sage scoffed and said, “Isn’t it the same? You should take it as a compliment.”

Yoel though looked as if he had nothing to hide. “I do agree that I have plenty of experience being in relationships. But there will come a day when I will be more interested in settling down. Maybe, I kept changing partners because I did not find any of them suitable? But now that I have seen you, I think I’d like to settle down.”

“I suppose you say this to every lady that you meet, huh? But Mr. Yoel, I am a divorcee, not some innocent and naive young lady.”

“So what if you’re a divorcee? I don’t care.”

Yoel sounded as if he was accepting and open-minded. “Who here doesn’t have a past? And besides, Jace and you were only married for three years. I don’t think you guys did it often.”

Sage was confused. “Do what?”

Startled, Yoel looked at her and replied, “Sex.”

Sage was rendered speechless.

Without hesitation, Sage kicked his shin.

Yoel burst into laughter. “This is getting interesting. I didn’t think that you were still an innocent lady. Well, I must say that Jace is a bit cruel. You could see him, but you could never touch him.”

Yoel’s continuous insulting of Sage filled even Hunter and the other assistants with a desire to kick him out of the car.

Yoel felt the sudden change in the air and knew to stop. Looking at how Sage was glaring at him fiercely with her cheeks flushed red, Yoel found her adorable. He felt as if he had found himself a rare treasure.

“My friend, what a pity that you don’t know how to cherish such a rare treasure. If that’s the case, I’ll gladly do it for you,” Yoel thought to himself.
