A Relentless Pursuit for Love novel Chapter 87

Chapter 87

As soon as Brody had completed his sentence, his father slapped him across the face. The slap was so hard that Brody almost fell over.

Lionel bellowed furiously, “You bastard, how dare you run your mouth like that?”

Jace, on the other hand, sat on the sofa and watched them silently. He had yet to utter a single word, and it had been a single-act show featuring Lionel and Brody.

After being slapped on the face, Brody heeded the warning from his father and sat down quietly.

Compared to the wild and frivolous Brody, his father, Lionel, better knew how to navigate social situations.

“I’m so sorry about that, Mr. Jace. I’ve pampered my son too much. All he knows are the relationships between men and women.”

Lionel smiled politely. “We as men should still prioritize work. Relationships are nice to have, but one should not let these meager feelings affect us, don’t you agree?”

Jace looked up at him.

“Are you referring to me?”

The smile froze on Lionel’s face.

On normal days, Lionel would be able to joke around with Jace but judging from the situation he was in, it was difficult for him to walk around Jace.

Jace was not much older than his son, but Jace had an intimidating and imposing demeanor. It was something that only those with potential and skill would possess.

“Absolutely not. You’re definitely not the type to take things personally.”

“Therefore, you should trust that I have my reasons for withdrawing from the partnership with Starship Entertainment.”

Leaning back in his chair, Jace lifted his hand and took the documents that Zayne handed him, and passed them to Lionel. Taking the documents from Jace, Lionel could not help but have a bad feeling bubbling within him.

After going through the first few pages, Lionel’s face slowly darkened whereas Brody who was peeking from behind turned pale.

“Why do you have this?”

Brody glared at Jace. “Where did you get this? Are you trying to sabotage me?”

Brody started getting all worked up. He charged at Jace but was stopped by Zayne. Zayne locked Brody’s arms tightly behind his back, causing Brody to cry out in pain. The lock felt like it would break his arms.

“Please have mercy on us, Mr. Jace!”

Lionel could not sit still anymore. At the end of the day, even though he was a disappointment, Brody was still his son.

Still seated on the sofa, Jace said in a calm voice, “Nothing good comes out of being too impulsive. It’s fine if he wants to play around, but he should know the weight of the consequences. It’d be terrible if he commits a crime.”

His words sent chills down Lionel’s spine.

“I intercepted and got my hands on them before they could fall into the wrong hands. Take these documents along with the contract. Doting on a child is the same as killing him. I hope that you’ll do what’s best for you.”

Jace was dressed from head to toe in black. Even the chair he sat in was black. Throughout the meeting, he had sat in the chair, unfazed, and his voice carried no emotion.

It was impossible for someone like him to be swayed by emotions.

Lionel broke out in cold sweat. He felt that everything had happened too abruptly, sending the helve after the hatchet.

Dragging his son along with him, Lionel left Jace’s office defeated.

As soon as they had left, Zayne asked Jace worriedly, “Sir, the Liams are known to be notorious. Do you think that they would chalk it up to ma’am?”

Jace had a cold expression on his face. Of course, he knew how the Liams were.

“Send some people to keep an eye on them. Let me know right away when they notice anything. Send two people to keep an eye on Sage as well.”

“Yes, Sir, I’ll get this done right away.” Zayne then left to carry out his orders.

After dinner, Sage went to pick out a piece of material and planned to do some carving.
