A Relentless Pursuit for Love novel Chapter 198

Chapter 198

Leah was scared to death. She finally saw Gwyneth for who she was, a femme fatale.

Leah was kept in the basement for as long as Zane was away. She was treated like a criminal, except worse. At least criminals were fed several times a day. Leah only had a few sips of water throughout the time. Every night, Gwyneth held up a whip and made her kneel in front of her, and lectured her. Leah had to do as told to survive. She tried to escape and defend herself, but Gwyneth replaced all the housing staff with her people. The home Leah once knew became a living hell. Finally, Gwyneth released Leah upon Zane’s return. Gwyneth had sent Leah away to the hospital as she had a high fever from the infections of her wounds. Gwyneth even lied to Zane that she got bullied in school, hence the wounds. Zane went to the hospital to visit Leah. Much to her dismay, her father did not even care about her but reprimanded her for picking a fight with others. “Look at yourself, what have you done to receive such a beating? You must have done something terrible if they picked on you and no one else!” Gwyneth put on a fake mask and said gently, “There, there, don’t get mad at her. Leah is still a kid, she’ll learn.” She looked at Leah who was now bright red and sighed. “This poor child. Hubby, it’s so tough being a stepmother. I’m worried about people saying that I abused her.” Zane comforted Gwyneth and continued reprimanding Leah, “Look at yourself! Think about her if you don’t care for yourself. People might blame her for treating you badly, how is she going to explain for herself?” Leah felt so disappointed in her father that day. Compared to her heart, her wounds felt no pain at all. That’s who her father really was. From that day onwards, Gwyneth’s attitude towards Leah worsened. Sometimes she would even slap her face in front of Zane, but to Zane, she was only teaching her proper manners. She was grounded at home by Gwyneth, and finally, it was the day of her college orientation. She could not believe Gwyneth stopped her from attending school and ripped her acceptance letter to pieces. Lucky for Leah, she finally ran away from this living hell and informed her school about her late arrival. If not, Leah might have already been dead a long time ago. She did not have a great time in college either. Leah had to work for her school fees as her father refused to pay for it ever since she ran away.

Many of them broke down as soon as they heard what Leah’s been through all these years.

“That’s ridiculous, what did a child do to you that you had to abuse her like that? You have a son, aren’t you worried karma will serve you?” Even the janitor could not take it anymore and cursed at Gwyneth.

“Yes! You have a son too, I can’t believe you’re such a vicious woman!” “She’s a beauty with an evil heart. I can’t believe this is happening in real life!”

“What beauty? Ivan said she was a whore and she did plastic surgery. No wonder she looked so fake.”

“I heard once from a friend from the Suburbs, that Gwyneth was infamous for being a sugar baby.” “What’s a sugar baby?”
