Outside of the window, there were several guards as well. Lisa could not make it solely on her own. She needed help from Robert and his men.

In order to successfully carry out their plan for Lisa's escape, they must prepare thoroughly and enlist enough manpower.

After they had agreed on everything, Robert nodded with confidence and drove away.

They could not take action during the day because they could easily attract everyone's attention.

They had to wait until it was dark.

Charles wouldn't be home anyway. They would have plenty of time to escape.

Adam sat in the sofa with his legs crossed. He aimlessly stared at the TV, his mind somewhere else.

When someone tried to open the door, Adam slightly curled up his lips.

He was glad that Lisa still had some sense in her. Everything seemed to be working out according to his plan.

However, he stood up from the sofa, pretended to be surprised, and shouted toward the door, "Brother, how come you are home now? I thought you are going to the Mu clan's villa!"

Robert looked really defeated. Adam could tell that he was in a very bad mood. Robert was this close to drag 'Linda' out just now, but he controlled himself at the last minute.

He knew he could not behave hastily.

He had to wait patiently until tonight.

It would be a long wait for him, but he had to do it for Linda's sake...

"Charles is such a heartless bastard! I am taking Linda here this evening, " Robert uttered between gritted teeth.

"Why? What did he do?"

"It is outrageous! He locked up Linda in the house, forbade her to go out, and treated her like garbage when he found out she might not be able to conceive again after the miscarriage. What kind of man behaves like that? If he can't handle the responsibilities, he shouldn't have decided to marry her in the first place!" Robert snapped as he walked straight toward the kitchen. There, Alice served him a glass of iced water. Robert gulped it down, feeling a bit better after he did.

"Don't you know that Charles is a bastard? You should have realized his true character a long time ago when he hurt me for the sake of winning. Even though he told everyone that it was merely an accident, I knew it was not! Who knows what he was up to! Brother, sometimes we really need to think about ourselves!"

Robert's face darkened. He didn't know what to say. Today, he found out too much about Charles and the horrible things he did. One blow after the other, Robert found it hard to accept the facts.

Adam continued, "Brother, should I remind you that Linda and Charles are only engaged and not married? I had someone check in the Civil Affairs Bureau and found out that they don't have a registered marriage contract. If Charles dumps Linda right now, he is not obliged to give her any money nor does he need to take any responsibility for her."

Adam's words clearly made an impact on Robert whose eyes glared with anger.

Robert was so furious that his fists clenched hard. He had never felt this angry in his life.

"I am glad that I did not act hastily just now. If I had taken Linda out under broad daylight, people would definitely speak ill of us. We decided to carry out the plan in the evening and bring her here secretly. Since Charles no longer cherishes her, I will take his place and look after Linda from now on!"

Robert raised his fists. His face looked confident, his voice loud. He had decided that he would take care of Linda and give her a good life. All of a sudden, Robert found a newfound hope.

He said to himself, 'Linda, I will replace Charles and give you everything you desire.

I will make sure that I would love you more than Charles ever did.

The Huo clan is also a prestigious family who has profound wealth. Charles failed to give you a grand wedding, but I will make it up to you and provide you the most fabulous wedding anyone has ever seen.'

Adam was genuinely amused by the expression on Robert's face. He yawned and told Robert, "Brother, I feel sleepy. I'll go to bed and take a nap. I will wake up and greet my sister-in-law in the evening after you bring her here."

He wouldn't mind Lisa becoming his sister-in-law. It didn't seem to be a bad idea.

The real Linda was dead. Therefore, keeping Lisa by Robert's side sounded like a good idea. He couldn't wait to have fun with his little "bitch". It greatly amused him to have Lisa by his side as his dear sister-in-law!

The thought of manipulating her thrilled Adam. He had something special planned for his future sister-in-law already.

At 11:30 PM, Robert set out from his house.

In order to rescue Lisa safely and discreetly, Robert had asked the elite security team from the Huo Group to carry out the mission.

The night was long. Ten masked men rode in two cars and stormed toward the Mu clan's villa.

When they reached the villa, they waited around the building in silence, waiting for the signal from Robert for their next move. Robert checked his watch impatiently. He was waiting for 12 o'clock sharp, the time the servants would change shifts.

Lisa had been standing next to the window of the bathroom for quite some time.

Big beads of sweat formed on her forehead as she constantly peeped at her watch. Where was Robert? Lisa's heart was beating fast; she was scared.

Finally, she heard one of the servants shouting in panic, "Fire! Fire!"

"The lawn is on fire! Help! Help!"

Lisa curled up her lips. She knew Robert was here for her.

Within one minute, Robert appeared outside the window where she was standing.

Robert was delighted to see his beloved woman again. She looked pale, her eyes brimming with tears. Without further delay, he quickly reached out for her hands. The moment he touched her cold hands, Robert's heart skipped a beat. 'She must have suffered a lot!', thought Robert sadly. He took her hands and rubbed them carefully with his. Then, he put them into his coat pocket to keep them warm.

Lisa was moved by his gentle gesture. What a wonderful man he was. As she lowered her head, big drops of tears ran down her cheeks.

It was probably for the best if she married him!

As for Charles, she should force herself to get over him soon!

Lisa fondly looked at Robert. She thought about how he seemed to have this magic power to make her heart sing. Just then, Robert opened his mouth and broke her heart instantly.

He said, "I am here for you, Linda."

Lisa burst into tears. She sadly realised that he came here not for her, but for the woman she resembled - Linda. He was risking everything to rescue "Linda".

He thought she was his "Linda".

The love he had toward her was not for her. It was for Linda all this time.

Lisa wiped her tears away, forced a smile, and softly said, "Take me with you then."

She should just ignore it since Linda was already dead. The love and attention that belonged to Linda was hers now. She was the victorious one.

The thought cheered Lisa up. She shouldn't dwell on the past anymore, especially since the challenging future awaited her.

Robert held Lisa with great care and helped her slowly climb out of the window. Once her feet reached the ground, he signaled his men to bring her to the car waiting outside of the villa.

On the way to the Huo's villa

Robert asked the driver to put the heat on as he noticed Lisa's hands were freezing cold.

Lisa's heart filled with joy. She looked at him with much appreciation. She couldn't help but wonder why Linda was able to win everyone's heart. Robert's considerate move belonged to Linda, not her. It was so unfair.

"Are you still cold? Linda?" Robert fondly gazed at Lisa. From his eyes, she could tell that he really cared for "her".

Lisa smiled and slowly shook her head. She said to him, "Not anymore."

"Don't be scared. Let me take you home."

"Thank you."
