A Vengeful Girl novel Chapter 64

"Why? Tell me why."

"There are no other reasons. All I hope is that you are happy." Donna Xie reached out her work-worn hand to run her fingers through Linda's hair.

With her hands trembling slightly, She looked affectionately at Linda.

Linda recalled that soon after she came back to live with Johnson Xia, he had mentioned that he wanted to thank Donna Xie for raising Linda. But Donna Xie refused to meet him and just accepted his medical aid.

Why?

Was Donna Xie unwilling to meet the Xias? Why's that?

Linda was confused. She felt things had gotten more complicated.

"Fine, I won't force you if you are unwilling to come."

"All right, good girl. You better go home. The rain has stopped. I am going to have a nap. The rain usually comes and goes these days. I am afraid that it will pour again. So hurry home and take a hot bath or you may get a cold."

"OK, mom. Have a good rest."

Maybe it was because she's too weak or too tired. Donna Xie fell asleep soon after lying on bed.

Seeing her foster mother dozing off, Linda tucked her in and tiptoed out.

Bun followed Linda quietly after they walked out of the ward.

The gentle rain came again and a gust of chill wind blew past them. Linda felt cold with her wet clothes.

"Sneeze"

Linda sneezed and rubbed her nose. It was easy to get a cold in such an awful weather.

"My Lady. May I go borrow an umbrella from Dr. Xu? It's raining outside." asked Bun while looking out of the window.

For Bun who had years of training in the army, the drizzle was just a piece of cake. But Linda would get sick after getting caught in the rain again.

Seeing that it was not a heavy rain, Linda shook her head and said, "No. I'm good. The car is over there. We just run to it and drive home quickly."

Gathering her clothes around her, Linda was about to trot over there with Bun.

Hardly did she and Bun start to walk outwards when she saw there were two familiar figures moving toward them.

In the thick rain, the man strode toward the hospital under an umbrella. He's strikingly good-looking and usually kept a straight face that made others feel like he's unfriendly.

Paul followed close at his heels with two bags.

Then Linda caught Charles's soft eyes.

The two men got more and more close.

"What brings you here? I thought you have gone to your office, " said Linda, who was surprised at his arrival.

Charles Mu furled the umbrella and shook the rain off it. He took over the two bags from Paul and walked up to Linda, wrapping his arm around her waist. Then they walked inside together.

"Well? Are you going to come home in your wet clothes?"

"I can change it after getting home."

"There is a private bathroom here. Go take a hot bath and change your wet clothes."

Charles said in a low, yet soothing voice and looked at Linda with calm and insistent eyes.

"How annoying you are!" Athough there rose a stream of warmth in her heart, Linda still protested in a coquettish voice. She took the bag from him which contained some clean clothes of hers.

"Take your wet clothes off quickly or I will help you."

"I will beat you!" Once again Linda blushed at what the man had said.

Charles Mu said with one eyebrow cocked, "Beat me all you like."

Outside the room.

Paul handed over another bag to Bun, scratching his head shyly and said, "Bun, go change your wet clothes lest you catch a cold."

"Thank you, Paul." Bun smiled charmingly and took the bag. It's not known whether she was affected by Linda and Charles or not. She blushed a bit and ran away, Leaving Paul standing where he was with a goofy smile.

On the top floor of the hospital, there was an private room for Charles. After having a hot bath, Linda started to put on these dry clothes Charles brought for her.

Seeing what's in the bag, Linda flushed.

There were Linda's bra and knickers at the bottom of the bag. These were pretty private. She did not expect that Charles Mu was thoughtful enough to bring them.

After changing, Linda stepped out of the bathroom.

Charles Mu was waiting for her in the room.

Seeing Linda out of the bathroom, he took out a hair drier from a drawer and waved at her, "Come here."

Linda nodded slightly and walked to him. All of it was so natural, as if they were a couple already.

Charles Mu took Linda in his arms and had her sit on his thighs. Then he began to dry her hair and asked, "How's Mrs. Xie?"

"Anna have given her a thorough examination. She got some cardiac problems and a benign tumour. Nothing that will endanger her life though."

"Well, "

Charles Mu asked no further questions and focused on drying her hair and ran his fingers through her hair.

"Oh, judging by the expression of May Shen today, there seems to be something fishy about the Huiteng Internet."

It had occurred to Linda that last night, Charles Mu asked her to go back to her father's home today and offer to take over Huiteng Internet, a subsidiary of the Xia's Group.

In the day after Linda came to Charles Mu's home, the Mu's Group pumped a large amount of money into the ailing Xia's Group.

However, within just half of a month, the Xia's Group ran into cash flow problems again, and some of its projects were short-funded.

As far as Charles Mu was concerned, what'd happened to the Xia's Group did not make sense as Charles remembered distinctly that the shares of the Xia Group went up by a few percentage points following the news of the company getting financial aid from the Mu Group.

With the financial aid from the Mu's Group and the surge in shares, those problems seemed highly unlikely.

There must be someone sabotaging it.

After some investigations, Charles Mu thought there must be something fishy going on with the Huiteng Internet.

"OK, I'll examine its accounts later. There must be something wrong with it." said Charles Mu dryly.

Afterwards, Linda, Charles, Paul and Bun left the hospital.

It's still raining outside. Charles Mu pulled his arm around Linda's shoulder and accordingly Linda slipped her arms around his waist, nestling against him.

Charles put up the umbrella and they got into the car. Everything was so natural.

In the villa of the Xia clan, May Shen thought she could never let Linda Xia take over the Huiteng Internet. But she could not figure out a way around it, as Johnson Xia had promised to let her have it.

At this thought, May Shen hurriedly left the room with her phone and went to a place without anybody around in the backyard.

"What's to be done? The old thing, Johnson, has promised Linda the Huiteng Internet."

"Take it easy. Let her have it. The Huiteng Internet is going to be set on fire tonight."
