A Vengeful Girl novel Chapter 77

"Robert?"

Looking up at the man in front of her, Linda felt a bit surprised.

The man gave Linda a warm, bright smile, which felt like a ray of sunshine in a cold, gloomy day.

He was Robert Huo who went to university two years eariler than Linda.

In her freshman year, Linda often went to the library and sat at her regular table.

Coincidentally, everytime Linda studied here, Robert Huo would show up and sat opposite her.

As they often sat together, they have got to know each other quite well.

And sometimes they would have an idle chat and read together.

But they lost contact after Robert went to study abroad in his senior year. .

"Yes." Robert Huo smiled with a nod and put the scattered books into the carton. "Let me help you, " said Robert.

"No, thanks. Robert. I can manage it."

But robert ignored what Linda just said and picked up the carton. He said, "Linda, you are always too proud to ask others for help. Let's go."

Walking in a trail of their university, Linda felt quite happy to meet her old friend again.

However, it didn't mean she's interested in him. Seeing a friend who you had not met for a long time was always delightful.

"How have you been the last 2 years?" Robert turned around and studied Linda with his limpid eyes.

In the past two years, a lot of things, even something unexpected, have hapended.

Linda opened her month, as if she got a a lot to say. But she hesitated and finally said, "Quite well."

Before they knew it, they had already arrived at the gate of the university. Bun had already come back from the lady's room and was waiting for Linda beside the car.

Upon seeing Linda, Bun trotted to her and cast a glance at Rober who's walking near Linda. She was surprised at the appearance of such a stranger.

"Bun, this is Robert Huo. a fellow schoolmate I met at university." Linda hastened to introduce Robert to Bun as she saw Bun was studying him.

Bun smiled politely and said, "Nice to meet you, Mr. Huo."

Robert wore a thin smile and nodded, "Nice to meet you, too."

Then Bun took the carton from Robert and said to Linda, "My Lady, shall we go home now? It looks as if it's going to rain."

Linda looked up at the sky, the southeastern part of which was covered with masses of dark clouds, a sure sign of rain.

The weather was so fickle.

After hearing Bun called Linda "My Lady", Robert's heart skipped a beat and he felt confused.

He returned home because his parents desired to see him get married.

Over the years Robert's parents have been fixing him up with many blind dates but he never met the right one for him.

Then he recalled Linda, the girl who he met everyday in the library.

An idea occurred to him that maybe he could marry her instead of a woman he didn't know at all.

Even if... his family members might look down their noses at Linda's family background.

But Robert didn't care what kind of family she's from.

So he went home.

But much to his disappointment, he suddenly realized that he didn't have her number.

They used to meet each other at the library as if by mutual agreement. So there was no need to have each other's phone number.

Robert had no choice but to ask Linda's teacher to find out whether they knew how to reach Linda.

But as luck would have it, he met a girl dropping her books over the ground when he was halfway across the campus.

There was only a thin smile on his face, but Robert's heart was actually leaping with joy.

"Linda? Have you got married?" Robert didn't give up and asked.

"Me? No yet. But I'm about to get engaged. Since you came home, I will be glad if you came to my engagement party."

Linda patted him on the shoulder and couldn't help smiling when she though of Charles Mu.

After a short silence, Robert nodded and said, "Fine. By the way, can you give me your phone number? Maybe we can go out for dinner sometime. I have been studying abroad for the past two years. I am afraid that I am not so familiar with everything here now."

"Ok, call me if you ever need anything."

Linda gave him her phone number.

After saying goodbye to Robert, Linda got into the car with Bun. The car moved forward slowly.

Robert kept staring at it and didn't move his eyes away until the car was out of sight.

He was surprised she's about to get engaged.

Robert lost his usual calmness and become rather fidgeted.

He shook his head to clear his thoughts and then started to walk out of the campus.

In the car, Bun bombarded Linda with questions before Linda could speak.

"My Lady, who is the that guy? I think he's interested in you."

Linda glanced at Bun and smiled, "He's just a senior fellow schoolmate I met at university and it's been two years since we met each other the last time. There's no way he's interested in me. We are just good friends."

"Really? But the guy kept looking at you with warm eyes and there was a rush of affection in them. I guess my Young Master got a competitor, "

Teased Bun.

"He's made that way. Robert treats everyone like this."

Robert Huo was pretty popular in the university. While he's reading in the library, many girls went there to see him, but just not dare to sit beside him.

Linda used to be set up more than once by those admirers.

"Don't mention it to Charles after getting home." Linda just wanted to stay out of trouble even though she and Robert were really just good friends.

She's afraid that Charles might get paranoid about it.

Linda was majored in psychology. So she understood how people acted in different situations and was sure that Charles would bother her with what'd happened today.

"Got it, My Lady. You are my boss now, not Young Master. So I will keep silent about it and probably I can keep a lookout for you if you want. How about that?"

Linda was amused by what Bun just said and stretched her hand to pinch Bun's face. "Stop talking nonsense or I will ask Charles to marry you off to Paul."

Bun flushed and lost control of the wheel. Then the car skidded off the road slightly. Bun called out, "Jesus, My Lady! I'm driving! Stop messing around with me, please. If we had a car crash and you got hurt, I will be in big trouble!"

"You feel shy?"

Bun's flushed face somehow amused Linda.

"Hum."

Bun pretended to focus on her driving. But her mind was in a turmoil and her eyes glazed over.

She's been having a crash on Paul for many years.

But... Nobody will be attracted to her after seeing the unsightly scars over her body.
