A Vengeful Girl novel Chapter 80

Linda nestled up docilely against Charles Mu for a long while.

"Linda, we are going to be engaged tomorrow. How do you feel now?"

Linda closed her watery eyes and grabbed Charles Mu with her little hands. Like a idle little cat, she murmured slowly with a nod, "Hmm, more than happy... Can you go home with me later in the afternoon? I want to see my father."

Out of no reason, Linda suddenly thought of Johnson Xia again.

Linda didn't live in the Xia's villa with him, and with Lisa Xia gone missing and May Shen in jail, Johnson Xia was left alone in that big mansion.

It was not easy for an old man as Johnson Xia. So Linda, as his only daughter, wanted to do her best to look after her father.

"Sure. Don't worry about him. I will ask Anna to check on him regularly every month."

The whole food poison thing was way too horrible, and the most shocking part was that it was planned deliberately by someone. Johnson Xia could have die were it not for what Charles Mu had done for him.

And he would simply die of the so-called food poison, while May Shen would get away with everything she had done to Johnson Xia and inherit all his money.

The most tragic thing is that Lisa Xia, the one he had always been fond of, was not even his own daughter. It was too much to bear for a man in his age.

Linda had studied psychology before, and therefore she was worried that Johnson Xia couldn't let go and would instead do something silly. Linda couldn't afford to lose her father again now that she had finally got one.

No matter what he did back then, he had never harmed Linda.

Thinking that they hadn't had any lunch yet, Linda then got up from the bed and made a call to the Xia clan.

Vincent Zhou ran off after May Shen was arrested.

Linda didn't try to find Lisa Xia, and neither did she ask Charles Mu to hunt Vincent Zhou down and throw him into jail.

She only asked Charles Mu to find Johnson Xia a decent butler, at least someone he could count on.

It was Darren, the new butler, who answered the phone. He told Linda that Johnson Xia went to doctor Anna Xu for his physical examination in the Mu's private hospital, and he was not home yet.

So it seemed that they couldn't have lunch with Johnson Xia after all.

Linda then crooked her finger at Charles Mu, and when he leaned closer, she threw herself into his arms with her hands around his shoulders, "Is your family used to eat dumplings?"

Charles Mu shook his head while taking her hands in his. He felt so great to have her beside him, "I don't think so. Only a couple times when I was little as far as I can remember, and not after I grow up."

For a wealthy and prestigious family as the Mu clan, every meal was specially cooked by the five-star chef. And naturally, one could hardly find something so ordinary as dumplings on their dining table.

"Let's go home and I'll make dumplings for you and my father for lunch. What do you say?"

Charles Mu then fondled Linda's head gently with a doting smile, "I'd love to."

Linda was planning to visit her mother Donna Xia at the hospital before having lunch with Johnson Xia.

Donna Xia was getting better as she was taken good care of in the Mu's private hospital. And if it was possible, Linda would love to have her mother on her engagement party. Donna Xie was the one who had gone through so much and raised Linda as her own daughter, so it meant a lot to Linda to have Donna Xie there at one of the most important moments in her life.

Apart from that, Linda somehow felt there were some other reasons behind Donna Xie's reluctance to show up in Linda's engagement party.

Though Donna Xie kept avoiding telling Linda the truth.

Linda knew things were much more complicated than it appeared to be. Linda had always had a great sixth sense, and so she knew Donna Xie was keeping something from her.

"Then hurry up. The pork will be sold out if we keep on wasting time here, " said Linda sourly.

Charles Mu then let go of Linda and sat aside sulkily.

Linda didn't know whether to laugh or to be angry about his tantrum, "Come on! It's in the middle of the day! Can you at least think about if I can take it?"

Linda had never thought a cool and collected man as Charles Mu would someday acted like a spoiled boy in front of her, "What? You're my wife! Who else should I turn to? Except you?"

Linda's rosy lips were half opened and then failed to argued anything back.

The smirk was coming slowly back to Charles Mu's face again. He then threw his arms around Linda's shoulder and said, "Alright, just kidding. Come on, let's go and see our father, and have some delicious dumplings made by my wife."

Linda looked stunningly beautiful in the light sapphire dress she just changed into. There was no doubt that Paul and Bun was coming with them whenever they went out.

At Charles's order, Paul went to the garage to bring around the car and waited them at the front door.

And they left immediately for the market after the rest of them were seated into the car. It was a nice day with lovely sun and cool breeze.

It was approaching noon and the market was still filled with all kinds of noises when they arrived. Linda glanced over and turned to Charles Mu, "You can wait here and I'll go by myself. It won't take long. Ten minutes, tops."

But to her surprise, Charles Mu turned her down instantly. He quirked up his eyebrows and announced, "No way. I'm going with you."

"It smells in there. I don't think you can take it. I canl just go with Bun."

Linda thought he was worrying about her safety.

As the eldest son of the Mu clan, Charles Mu might never set his foot on such a place as vegetable market in his entire life.

And with the mixed smell of vegetables, meat and other raw ingredients, the place did smell rather unpleasant.

Charles Mu said nothing more. He just took Linda's hand and walked straightly into the market.

Linda was totally speechless. Did he even know where to find pork and dumpling skin? Or did he just walk randomly?

The shoppers in the market kept on eyeing Charles Mu and Linda when they showed up.

For handsome faces always drew people's attention at the first sight.

Charles Mu was calm and cold as he always was, which was constantly giving off the message of "Don't come any closer." But Linda knew his hands were actually warm to hold.

Suddenly there was a strong breeze and Linda'd dress was blown up in the air. She let out of a terrified scream and hurried to keep her dress down to cover her body.

But Charles Mu was a step ahead of her. He had already crouched down and held the edge of Linda's dress. Noticing the people around were all staring at Linda, he grew a little pissed and shouted out at the crowd, "Shut you damn eyes! What are you all looking at?"
