A Vengeful Girl novel Chapter 130

Charles Mu couldn't help but laugh when he heard the weird rumbling sound that was coming from his soon-to-be-wife's stomach.

A bright pink flush spread across Linda's?face as she clutched her stomach. She wasn't amused at the fact that Charles found humuor in her embarrassment.

"Shoot, stop laughing! It's because of you that I missed my lunch!" replied Linda sourly.

She felt a little bit irritated.

Charles Mu turned around and reached out to pick up a bag that was on the backseat.

"I brought you something to eat."

"Did you? Aww, how sweet of you. What is it?" Charles opened the bag, and the smell of roasted meat wafted in the air. Linda couldn't resist and her stomach grumbled in agreement.

"Here, have some. Or do you want me to spoon-feed it to you?" Charles asked, feigning annoyance. He knew she was hungry and wanted to tease her a little.

Linda pulled out three lunch boxes from the bag. The first box contained roasted chicken, the second, pea and ham soup, and the last one, some rice.

Linda felt starved looking at the display of tasty dishes before her. She asked, "Where did you get them? Did you buy them from somewhere?"

"I cooked them myself, "

Said Charles. Linda looked at him in surprise, wondering whether he was telling the truth. The look on his face revealed that he was but she had her doubts. But wasn't Charles at work today morning? And surely he must have been busy discussing projects and attending meetings? How could he have time to cook the dishes?

Linda thought it was too good to be true.

"I don't buy it. Where did you get them?" She asked. " Our company had our team building exercises for this season scheduled for today morning and everyone was required to take one of their favorite dishes.

One guy brought some roasted chicken, so I asked him to teach me how to cook it." Charles replied, sensing the accusatory undertones in Linda's voice.

"So, it's your first attempt at cooking? People seldom have any success on their first trial. I bet these dishes are not tasty."

Even as she said it, Linda felt very happy because Charles had cooked for her.

Linda had a smile on her face when Charles looked to her. "Dig in. Its all yours." He said, watching as she opened each lunch box and smelt the food appreciatively. He put the keys in the ignition and his Lamborghini purred to life. He began to drive towards the direction of his house.

As Linda enjoyed her lunch, she had an idle chat with her husband-to-be.

"Tell me something about Robert Huo."

"Are you so interested in him?" Charles asked, attempting to suppress annoyance. Linda rolled her eyes at Charles and snorted, "No way! I'm just curious, you know.

Robert was a senior schoolmate in my university and a popular guy in the Chemistry Department. He was a bright guy, a genius even, and always helped me with my homework. I thought that he came from a well-educated family. But I heard you address him as Young Master Huo, why is that?" "Have you ever heard of the Four Powerful Clans?"

Said Charles Mu dryly.

Linda nodded at him, taking a spoonful of the meal that was before her. Bun had mentioned it to her sometimes back.

"Well, The Four Powerful Clans are the Mu, Ho, Huo and Wang clans.

Robert belongs to the Huo clan." Charles responded, uninterested in continuing with the conversation. "Then how did you get to know him??

You greeted him with the phrase "No time no see", so does that mean that you two have seen each other before?" Linda pushed on, more concerned with eating than Charles' disinterest in the topic.

Charles Mu nodded, "We were friends when we were children." "Then why didn't you two keep in touch?

Is it because you are busy?"

Charles shook his head with an unreadble expression on his face and patted Linda on the head. He said, "It's a long story and I might tell you later. For some reason the Mu's and the Huo's have not seen each other for many years."

Linda stuck out her tongue at him and responded, "Fine, you owe me a story. Now shush, let me finish eating this scrumptious meal." They sat in silence, except for Linda's occasional appreciative noises.

Just as Linda finished eating, they arrived at the Mansion. Linda proposed they should treat Robert Huo to lunch next time to make it up to him.

Linda wanted to apologize to Robert for the mess she caused.

Even if he wanted to refuse, Charles finally agreed to Linda's suggestions. But his only condition was that Linda had to take Bun with her and the lunch was limited to two hours.

Even though she found it unreasonable, Linda agreed to it with a wry smile.

After Charles and Paul left the mansion of the Mu clan, Bun approached Linda and asked her what happened after they had left.

Bun peeked through the kitchen door just to make sure that Charles wasn't within earshot. She asked, "My Lady, are you okay?"

"I'm okay, why do you ask?" "I saw the expression on Young Master's face...

And thought you must have argued with each other." "We did, but we're clear now. You see, I always win when we have arguments. There's no way he can say no to me!"

Linda smiled smugly and satisfied, which Bun found amusing.

"As far as I know, you are the first one who has ever been able to handle him during arguments."

Linda looked surprised and asked curiously, "Really?" "Of course.

It's because no one has the nerve to argue with him, you see. People are scared around him and what he says goes."

"Well, with me its different."

"Yes it is My Lady, yes it is."

Bun said amusedly and laughed.

After Charles took Linda away from the restaurant, Robert Huo stared at Charle's Lamborghini as they drove away.

Even if he maintained his usual composure, Robert's mind was in turmoil and his heart ached.

It upset him to see the woman he loved had fallen in love with another man.

Robert Huo thought that Linda's husband-to-be must be someone from an ordinary family. Someone he would have had an advantage over because he's from an affluent background, from the Huo clan, one of the most powerful clans. He could have been able to steal her away and make her his once again.

But it turned out that the guy was Charles Mu. Charles was the number one threat that Robert hadn't considered.

Robert shook his head and walked to his car. As he turned onto the main freeway towards home, his unwillingness to give up Linda grew stronger

Why did he let Charles Mu take Linda away from him?

Plus, it was Charles Mu's fault that his brother couldn't lead a normal life and had to stay at home all day.

Robert wanted another shot at winning Linda's love.

He didn't believe Charles Mu really loved her. Charles was too proud to love anyone other than himself. Robert recalled that, when they were teenagers, Amy Qi give a love letter to Charles Mu and he tore it up, without even looking at it. He was heartless then, and behaviour like that get worse with age not better. Robert tried to console himself.

But how will he get a chance to meet Linda again and win her heart?

After the incident at the restaurant, Charles would not let Linda out of his sight, especially with the history between him and Robert.

But he had to find a way in.

Suddenly, an idea occured to him.

Linda had told him that she was interested in teaching chemistry at a school. His problem could be settled by getting a job at the school, and he could spend time with her everyday.
