A Vengeful Girl novel Chapter 144

Linda felt a little uncomfortable. With an awkward smile, she said, "Well... Maybe we can talk about this later."

"We can't wait any longer. I brought Charles to the world when I was only 23! You..."

Fortunately, Charles interrupted Violet before she could finish. Wrapping an arm around Linda's shoulders, Charles said, "Mother, isn't it time to eat? Let's have dinner."

"You only care about your wife, and not about your mother. I don't want to talk to you." Huffing angrily, Violet left to wash her hands and prepare for dinner.

"Violet is quite a woman. She didn't mean to offend you. Don't mind her, Linda." James stood up, patting Linda's shoulder with a reassuring smile.

"It doesn't matter, father."

At the Dinner Table.

Since Charles and Linda had joined them for dinner, the family had prepared a sumptuous feast. More than a dozen dishes were prepared on the table.

Linda began to worry when she heard the chefs were still cooking in the kitchen. "How can four people eat so much?"

Meanwhile, James opened a bottle of wine.

Linda seldom drank, But she heard that wine was good for women's health. After half a glass, her face turned a little red and she started feeling lightheaded. Charles steadied her when she wobbled in her seat.

Violet frowned at this, "Linda, you have to drink more in the future. If you go to banquets with Charles, what will you do if you get invited to drink?"

"I know, mother." Linda felt a little annoyed, but she didn't dare talk back and stick her tongue out.

"Mother, don't push her so hard. It doesn't matter that she can't hold her alcohol. Who would dare force my wife to drink?"

"Indeed, it's not bad that girls don't drink." James whispered in a low voice as he ate peanuts.

Violet was infuriated by the comment and said, "James, what are you saying? If you don't like girls who drink, then why did you marry me? Why didn't you marry someone who couldn't drink!"

Linda and Charles exchanged amused looks. They could see their father and mother got along well.

"Father, let's go to fishing someday." Charles interjected.

"Fishing? Why are you suddenly interested in fish?"

Charles looked at Linda and smiled, "I haven't spent much time with Linda recently. I want to take her out to fish and grow vegetables to experience your daily life."

"No problem, let's go next week."

Linda and Charles spent the night in the ancestral house of Mu Clan after dinner.

Charles' room was organized because it was regularly cleaned by servants. Lying on the sofa, Linda drank the bird's nest soup that was sent to up her as she?watched Charles work.

Although it was quiet in the room, they didn't feel uncomfortable.

After a few moments of silence, Charles turned to Linda and gently asked, "Honey, you don't want to have a baby, do you?"

Linda didn't know what he meant. "Why do you ask?"

"When father and mother asked you today, it seemed that you didn't want to."

Linda shook her head with smile, "Not really. I just think it's too early for us to have a baby. I just graduated from college and need time to work. And I want to spend more time with you before starting a family."

"Alright. I won't force you to do anything as long as you're happy."

Charles turned off the laptop and sat beside Linda, gathering her in his arms.

Linda leaned on his chest, listening to his steady heartbeat. She asked jokingly, "Darling, what will you do if I never want to have a baby?"

Charles'?arms tightened around her. "If you?don't want to have a baby, you don't have to. We'll be together forever, and every day will be just for us."

"Then no one will take care of us when we grow old, and bury us after we die."

After a little while, Charles said, "I don't smoke and seldom drink, so I can stay healthy. But since you're a foodie, you're fond of unhealthy fried food. You'll pass away before I do, and you won't have to worry about being lonely..."

Moved by his words, Linda didn't know how to describe how she felt. She felt heartened and was overcome with the urge to have a baby with Charles.

Let nature take its course. I'll have?a baby when I get pregnant. Johnson must want to have a grandson too. Linda thought to herself.

She felt like?luckiest woman in whole world.

Charles knew Linda wasn't used to living here, so he refused his mother's request to stay with them, and led Linda went back to the villa of Mu Clan.

On their first day back, Linda received news of getting accepted at Z High School as a Psychology teacher.

Bun escorted Linda to the school. Since the crane incident last time, Charles didn't want to risk his wife's safety.

The Mu Clan controlled the lifeblood of politics and economy in SH City, so they had a lot of enemies.

However, Linda thought having Bun at school was too strange and she didn't want to attract any attention.

While Linda?was at a loss, Paul went to the school and heard that a female P.E. teacher was pregnant. As a colonel, it was beneath Bun to become a teacher, but she applied for the position.

This way, Linda and Bun were able to go to school together without any fuss.

They reported on Sunday. With Paul's help, they were arranged in the same office, and Bun could keep an eye on Linda.

All the regular teachers and students didn't know who Linda and Bun were.

All they knew was that there were two new beautiful teachers at Z High School.
