A Vengeful Girl novel Chapter 156

Linda's heart stopped for a second. Did Brian know?

"Go ahead. What do you want to know?"

Brian had always been Charles' best friend, and therefore, Charles had no intention of keeping secrets from him. After all, Brian was in love with Bun and wanted to spend the rest of his life with her. So it was important for him to know what had happened to her in the past. He figured that it was better that they were frank and honest to each other, solving issues in the present rather than waiting until later.

Charles knew that Lord He wouldn't accept Bun as Brian's bride.

However, he knew that once Brian had made up his mind, no one could change it.

"Everything."

"Okay. What do you know of Bun's past?" Charles quipped. Brian gave a summary of what he had discovered. "Then I'm afraid my side of story is not much different from your investigation."

Charles replied, after Brian had finished.

With Brian's resources, it was easy to have someone investigated.

" So what did Lord Mu do to keep her alive?"

"Not sure. All I know is that it was my father who asked my grandfather for that favor, since Bun's father and mine had been friends for a long time. I know nothing more than you do, but I'll have Paul investigate further."

Brian then nodded solemnly, "Charles, you have to do this for me. It's way too important. I'm afraid someone will use it against Bun and put her in danger."

Although Brian was quite determined, Lord Ho was not willing to accept Bun because of her family background.

But if he thought it through, he would realize that Bun was actually the daughter of a lieutenant general.

Even the leak was merely an accident. Bun was only a child who had been kidnapped and hypnotized before revealing the tactics to their enemies. "Don't worry. I won't let anyone get to her or even have the chance to hurt her. But Brian, are you completely sure about it?

You know your grandfather will never agree no matter how keen you are on Bun."

"I've never been so sure in my life. She's the one for me."

"Fine."

Standing beside them, Linda saw the determination and the passion in Brian's eyes. She could tell that he was serious about this relationship. However, the only thing standing between them seemed to be that Bun was not just some ordinary girl.

They walked to the car, which Bun and Paul had retrieved from the car garage and parked it at the side of the road waiting for them. Brian wanted to catch a glimpse of Bun before he left. A few hundred meters away from the car, their eyes connected. Linda and Charles observed the unspoken connection and realized that their friend was truly in love. Bun reciprocated the feelings, evidenced through the bright red blush that was spreading across her face. Brian waved and she waved back. Then he left, rushing home before his grandfather noticed that he was gone.

Linda and Charles bid their friend goodbye and strolled towards the car. "Did you see that?" Linda asked.

"Yes I did. I could feel the chemistry between them. I do hope that their love is allowed to flourish. Oh honey, you look so tired. I will ask Paul to drive us straight home." Charles mused, as he placed his hands around Linda's waist. Linda was exhausted. It was her first day at work, and she could never have thought it would hold her up until this hour at night. Meanwhile, being a psychology teacher, she also felt so pleased to help one of her students clear his name.

Paul and Bun sat respectively on the driver's seat and the passenger side. Neither of them said anything.

No one knew exactly when it began, but something had definitely changed between them. Paul noticed the unspoken connection between Brian and Bun, and sadness washed over him. He watched Brian wave at Bun and walk away, and heard her sigh—she was in love. He had to say something. He had to tell her.

"Bun, what's going on between you and Master Brian?" Bun shook her head, "Nothing."

"You seemed quite close when we were walking. And just now, when he looked at you, there was something... Do you love him?"

"Its none of your business."

Bun replied vehemently. She didn't mean to. Though she knew deep down the mutual attraction between her and Paul had long gone since Brian came into her life.

Paul did like Bun. But he had never found a way to tell her how he truly felt. He didn't even know why he had never spoken up.

Before he could respond, Charles opened the back door, forcing Paul's words to remain unsaid.

Charles Mu carefully helped Linda get into the backseat and got in beside her. "Take us to the villa." Charles commanded.

Paul slowly started the car and drove back to the Mu's villa. Linda was quite worn out. She leaned against Charles and planned to rest her eyes for a little while, but she fell asleep soon after that.

They had already arrived at the villa when she woke up. Linda rubbed her eyes, but the nap had left her even more tired.

She got out of the car and wanted to go inside when Charles suddenly held her up.

"Let go of me, "

Linda said playfully, retreating her arms from around Charles' neck. There were servants outside of the villa and Linda was embarrassed to be seen like that.

"You're tired. Let me help you."

The servants around them were so used to Young Master Mu and Lady Linda showing up like this that they just looked up at them unfazed and continued with their work.

Paul had had a really bad feeling ever since he saw Brian earlier that day. He felt Bun was pushing him away. Seeing that Bun was following Linda into the house, Paul clenched his fists, "Bun, can you wait for a moment? I have something to show you." Linda looked over her shoulder at them. Was Paul finally making a move?

Did he decide to tell Bun how he felt about her?

Was it too late?

Linda could only shake her head and let Charles take her to their room. However, when they entered their room, Charles carried her to the bathroom.

"Let go of me. I want to take a bath and get some sleep! I can do this by myself." "I'll go with you."

Answered Charles slowly.

"Piss off! You can go first if you want to!"

Said Linda with her face turning pink.

"No."

"Bastard!" She retorted playfully, sharing a smile with her soon-to-be husband. In the garden, Paul and Bun sat side by side on the bench.

"Paul, what did you want to show me?

I'm tired and just want to have an early night."

Paul nodded and took a brocade box out of his pocket, "Here, it's for you."

"What is it?"

"A necklace. A gift for you."

Bun opened the box and saw a beautiful necklace inside. It seemed quite expensive.

"Why?"

Paul grabbed Bun's hands all of a sudden, "Bun, will you be my girlfriend? I've never known how to say this to you. But I still have feelings for you. I like you." Bun's heart stopped for a second. She shook his hands off her and stood up, "Paul, what are you doing? Why now?"

Paul smiled weakly when he saw the reluctance on Bun's face. "Bun... Are you in love with Young Master Ho?" "No!

Paul, it's just...

I just don't like you anymore..." Bun managed to say between her gritted teeth, which made Paul feel more miserable.
