A Vengeful Girl novel Chapter 187

Everybody knows the saying; absence makes the heart grow fonder, So, Linda was kind of looking forward to the winter camp. She knew that it would be exciting to rejoin Charles, after her temporary absence.

By noon, the faculty was summoned for an emergency meeting concerning the camp. Lilian Li, the director, needed to brief the teachers who were going on the rules, stipulations and guidelines, before the new year.

"My fellow teachers, welcome. This meeting concerns the winter camp. I want to begin by assigning the tasks. First, the rooms. There will be seven teachers in total, four males and three females. So I'm afraid you three might have to share a room."

Lilian paused and looked at Linda.

In fact, what worried her the most was that Linda wouldn't be happy about the plan. After all, Linda wasn't some ordinary woman but the lady of the Mu clan, the one that she couldn't afford to offend.

The original plan was to pair Linda and Bun, but now that there was another one to share their room with, Lilian wasn't sure how Linda would react.

Linda didn't think too much about it. She was totally fine with sharing. After all, she had nothing to hide. And the more the merrier.

However, she had a nagging feeling that the person they were sharing the room with was someone she particularly did not like.

She knew at the back of her mind that the only other female teacher was Amber.

Amber was sitting right across from Linda. When Linda turned to look at her, their eyes locked awkwardly. Amber hesitated when she spoke, "Well, Ms. Xia, Ms. Lu, I suppose you wouldn't mind if we share a room?"

"You mean one room altogether?" Linda asked with a frown.

Linda wouldn't mind living in a single room with Bun, but she was really uncomfortable with the idea that there would be another stranger, especially one that she had trouble with in the past.

Lilian noticed the tension. "Don't worry. The accommodation that we have prepared will be large enough to ensure a single bedroom for each of you. It's more like a unit, and the only facility you have to share is the bathroom..."

That sounded perfectly acceptable. So Linda shook her head and responded, "No, I don't mind."

They were all women, and so it wouldn't be a problem living together when they all had their own private bedroom.

However, Linda was actually quite curious about Amber joining them for the winter camp. Amber was a married woman with a child, so how could she manage to leave her family for half a month? Didn't she have to take care of her daughter?

Amber looked at Bun, who shrugged in agreement with Linda's words, although the expression on her face belied confusion. "That's great. Thank you." Amber felt relieved.

The rest of the meeting continued, with Lilian listing out other tasks and the rules to be followed. An hour later, the meeting ended. Linda and Bun went back to the teachers' office.

The winter camp was open for those who had achieved excellent marks. Students from every grade had to make it to the top 20 list, to earn them a spot in the very camp.

And every penny spent on the camp would be covered by the Mu company, who had been the sole sponsor of the annual event for years.

Lilian and Amber were left behind in the meeting room when everyone else had gone. Amber seemed to be in good mood. "Come on, let's go have some lunch. My treat." She smiled.

Lilian looked confused by the happiness that Amber was exuding. "Are we celebrating something that I don't know about?" "No. I just want to have lunch with a good friend. You know, spend some quality girl time over some food." Amber spoke, reassuring Lilian. Lilian accepted the invitation with a nod. After all, who could say no to free lunch.

"Just give me a few minutes then." Amber smiled with her eyebrows slightly quirking up.

When they were leaving the room, Lilian turned to Amber who was beside her and asked, "Tell me. Why do you suddenly want to go to the winter camp? You are always the last one to volunteer to do the job? Who is going to take care of your daughter? And your husband? Is he okay with you leaving them for half a month?" Lilian asked, curiously.

"Ha! Those are too many questions my friend. My husband is okay with it and I've asked my mother-in-law to take care of my daughter for the time being, so she will be fine. As for me, I guess I just feel like volunteering this year."

"Well, if you say so. Let's go have lunch!"

Back in the office, Bun looked confused. She hesitated to ask. "My Lady, why didn't you ask for a room for yourself? You have every right to do so since both the summer and the winter camp are sponsored by the Mu company. Young Master will pay for it anyway."

Linda simply shook her head, "It's fine. It doesn't matter anyway. Each one of us will have our own bedroom. Besides, it's only half a month. I don't mind."

Linda had done some research and found out that in the past, three teachers had shared a unit. so she knew that

Lilian was not trying to pick on her deliberately. She could cope with that, if it had happened before. Linda didn't care for privileges so long as she had her own private bedroom.

In fact, Linda didn't hold a grudge against Amber. She simply didn't like her for being so dictatorial. Especially her belief that students must obey whatever their teachers. Linda thought that this was complete nonsense.

A knock on the door interrupted Bun from speaking. "Come in!" Linda called out.

It was John Lee. "Ms. Xia, Ms. Lu, are you going to be the instructors during this winter camp?" He asked eagerly as he entered the room.

Linda smiled, "Yes, we are."

John Lee jumped for joy, he was happy that his favorite teachers would be at the winter camp with him.
