A Vengeful Girl novel Chapter 191

"It's just a nightmare, My Lady. Don't think too much about it. We have to get up early tomorrow morning and go to school at six o'clock. It's just a bad dream." Bun comforted Linda, while wiping the cold sweat that had formed from her forehead.

"All right. Let me go back to sleep. Good night, Bun." Linda said, with a slight smile. After Bun saw that Linda suck into her bed covers, she left.

But Linda couldn't fall asleep again. She was still haunted by the nightmare.

She wanted to call Charles, so she picked up her phone from the nightstand and dialled his number. After a couple of rings, the phone call was cut. Linda was confused. Seconds later, she received a message from Charles saying that he was busy and would call her in the morning.

Linda wondered what Charles was busy doing at midnight. She was desperate to hear his voice. She knew that she wouldn't be able to speak to him the morning, because they were leaving early for the 2-week winter camp.

Linda dialed Charles' number again. "The number you have dialed is switched off, please redial later." Hearing that emotionless voice, Linda frowned.

What is happenning? Why isn't Charles answering his phone? It doesn't make sense! Linda thought, confused at the situation.

Charles always kept his mobile phone switched on, because he knew Linda would worry about him if she couldn't reach him.

Linda shrugged away the confusion, and tried to fall asleep. After all, she needed to wake up very early the next morning. She kept tossing and turning for a long time and finally drifted off.

Bun knocked on the door to wake Linda up the next morning.

Linda woke up and soon realised that Charles had not been home. His side of the bed was still neatly made. Linda didn't think much of it, since sometimes Charles would get busy in the office and end up sleeping there. However, it nagged her a bit that he didn't want to come see her off, since he wasn't going to see her for the next 2 weeks.

She picked up her phone and sent Charles a message, telling him that she was leaving home for the winter camp. Then, she showered, dressed and grabbed her bag and headed to school with Bun.

When they arrived at school, students had already lined up in front of the school gate, waiting for coaches. All the teachers were there as well, with Linda and Bun the last to arrive.

Linda was surprised to see Robert at the school gate.

Because she remembered Robert's name wasn't on the teachers list or she hadn't seen him during the briefing the other day.

Robert had already spotted Linda and Bun, so he walked up to greet them. "Good morning, Linda. Good morning Bun."

"Good morning, Robert. What are you doing here?" Linda responded, and Bun gave a brief nod.

"I'm one of the teachers in charge of the winter camp." Robert replied with a warm smile.

"But I didn't see your name on the list? And you didn't come for the teachers briefing meeting?" Linda asked, curiously.

"Mr. Chan couldn't make it because of an emergency, so I volunteered to fill in for him."

Bun wasn't convinced. She could tell that Robert was lying. Before Linda could respond, Bun squinted her eyes and said, "Could it be that Master Huo asked the principal to replace Mr. Chan?"

Bun knew that Robert had feelings for Linda. But come rain or sunshine, she was definitely on Charles' side.

Master Huo knows My Lady is engaged to our Young Master Mu. But he is still trying to get close to her. What is he planning to do? Bun thought.

Upon hearing Bun's words, Robert flushed bright red, out of embarrassment.

But he managed to keep calm.

"Miss. Lu, It's not like that. You think too much." Robert feigned annoyance. He didn't like Bun butting into his business, she was bound to ruin his plans if she continued.

"That would be best, Master Huo. My Lady is engaged to Young Master Mu. Master Huo, shift your attention to other ladies." Bun said.

Bun's warning made Robert smile.

Linda said nothing throughout. What Bun just said was exactly what she wanted to tell Robert. She had been afraid of hurting his feelings. After all, he was her senior who had been helping and taking care of her at college. She didn't want to ruin her friendship with him.

Thus, Linda was grateful to Bun for helping her warn Robert.

After a while, coaches finally arrived at the school gate.

Bun boarded one of the coaches together with Linda since, she was planing to sit with her. But Amber pushed her to another seat and said, "Miss. Lu, may I sit with you? I'm not familiar with those male teachers."

"I'm sorry, Miss Tang. I want to sit with Miss Xia." Bun responded, shaking her head in the process.

"Miss Xia is close with Mr. Huo, so they can sit together!" Amber responded, gleefully.

Bun was upset, "How can you tell Miss Xia and Mr. Huo are close?"

"I often see them talking and laughing together. What's more, I heard Miss Xia and Mr. Huo were schoolmates before..."

"Miss Xia is engaged." Bun interjected, her rage boiling underneath the surface. The nerve of this woman, Bun thought.

"I know. I didn't say there was anything between them. I just said they have a good relationship..." Amber retorted, confused as to why Bun was reacting the way she did.

Bun didn't want to argue with Amber any more. She stood up and headed to where Linda was sitting, several rows behind.

However, it was too late. Robert was faster than Bun, and by the time she reached Linda, he had already sat down beside her. Robert asked politely after he had sat down, "Do you mind if I sit here?"

Linda smiled awkwardly, "Does it matter? You've already sat down."
