After Being Cheating novel Chapter 265

Raymond was waiting for Janet beside the car. He said, "Miss Janet, where do you want to go first?"

Without hesitation, Janet said, "The hospital."

"Okay."

They then got in the car and headed towards the hospital.

After all the Bentley cars had left, a man who was standing behind a nearby corner dialed a number on his phone. "Boss, Janet has arrived in Z Country. Somebody just picked her up from the airport earlier."

"Follow her. If you get the chance, bring her back safe, " said the man on the other end of the line.

The man immediately replied, "Yes, boss!"

On the way to the hospital, Janet asked one of the bodyguards in the front seat, "How is Caspar feeling now?"

The bodyguard honestly answered, "When we left the hospital, he is still in the emergency room."

"I see, " said Janet. She bowed her head, and prayed that Caspar would eventually turn out to be fine.

Half an hour later, when Janet arrived at the hospital, Dillon was quietly sitting on the long chair outside the emergency room.

Susy was standing beside him with bloodshot eyes; she must have cried a lot.

Janet also noticed a pool of blood on the floor.

Although it might not have necessarily been Caspar's blood, her intuition still kicked in.

Susy saw Janet first. "Miss Janet, " she greeted her.

Janet nodded at Susy, and then walked to Dillon and greeted him as well.

Dillon raised his head when he heard Janet's voice, and in a hoarse voice, said, "You've come, Janet."

Janet had felt very bad for what had happened, and heavily nodded her head. Dillon could sometimes be out of his mind, but Janet was aware that he now had a well restored state of mind in the current situation.

Janet asked, "Is he still in the emergency room?"

Susy answered, "Yes. It's been over six hours now."

After she heard Susy reply to her question, Janet's heart sunk in an instant.

Then Croft also arrived. He had rushed back to the hospital after he had changed his clothes.

Janet walked up to him, and asked, "Croft, what happened?"

Croft looked at Janet with a pair of weary eyes, and then took her outside. He lit a cigarette, and said, "Janet, did you encounter someone coming from the Black Moon Gang?"

Janet immediately thought of Hobson, and said, "I did, in C Country. I ran into a couple of them when I was hiking."

Croft remained silent.

Janet raised her head, and said, "Was he shot by the Black Moon?"

Croft looked right into her eyes and nodded.

He told her what had happened from the very beginning. Earlier that afternoon, Caspar and Croft were having a lunch meeting with several guys in a restaurant when they ran into Hobson.

Although they had recognized Hobson instantly, and had chosen to ignore his presence, the brief encounter with personal enemies made both Hobson and Caspar all the more furious.

Suddenly, while snickering, Hobson said to Caspar, "Caspar, didn't you know that Janet belonged to Daniel?"

Caspar had known that already very well, but he was still stumped for a brief moment.

"Hobson, that's none of your business, " said Caspar.

He then walked up to Caspar, and balefully said, "I heard that you also loved..."

Although Hobson didn't finish his sentence, everyone knew what he meant.

Caspar again ignored Hobson, and walked out of the restaurant with Croft.

Hobson followed them to the parking lot, and again shouted at Caspar, "Janet is pretty, very pretty, but it's unfortunate that she had some bastard's baby when she first came here four years ago. Then she's lived with you for a while here, hasn't she? But not that long ago she went on a camping trip with another man in C Country. I would never have thought that the first legitimate leader of the Tianye Men would turn out to be a whore."

Caspar couldn't stand any longer what Hobson was saying about Janet, and got into a fight with him.

Hobson was ruthless, and he had expressed his resentment towards Caspar before. Now they were in Z Country, on Hobson's own turf, and his bodyguards pulled their guns on them immediately, without any sort of hesitation.

Croft had called out for help, but one of Hobson's bodyguards had already shot Caspar in the shoulder when their own bodyguards arrived at the scene.

Croft pulled out his gun and shot dead one of Hobson's bodyguards.

More and more gang members from both sides came to the parking lot, and Caspar and Hobson were pulled apart by their own men. Before Caspar could safely get inside the car, he got shot again.

Hobson also had been shot several times by Caspar and the other bodyguards.

Before the policemen responded to the distress call, all the gang members were long gone.

Croft had also got two hacks on his back, and Caspar had slipped into a coma by the time he was sent into the private hospital. Croft had called someone to wipe the whole event clean, and then went home to change into fresh clothes, or otherwise the police would have already been there by now.

It was Hobson again.

Janet looked at Croft's back, and asked, "Croft, are you alright?"

"I'm fine, " said Croft. He had gotten used to this kind of events, because he had already been involved in the gang for several years.

"Caspar got shot close to his heart, but luckily he dodged a bit. It could be probably fatal..." continued Croft.

He tossed the cigarette butt on the ground, and stepped on it, and then leaned against the handrail.

The thought of Hobson upset her a lot. She had never thought that there could be such disgusting and despicable people out in the world.

A few minutes later, someone came and told them that the surgery was over.

Caspar was on his way out of the emergency room when they were back in the hallway, with tubes coming out from all over his body.

Janet panicked when she saw Caspar's dead pale face.

She pulled a doctor aside, and asked, "Doctor, is he going to be alright?"

Janet could tell that the doctor was tired from his weary eyes, and from the sweat coming from all over his face. He lowered his mask from his mouth, and said, "One of the bullets is in his chest, close to his heart. Although We managed to get all the bullets out of him, I have to tell you that it's hard to say if he'll make it or not. Tonight is crucial."

It was already night. What did he mean by tonight?

Janet repeated, "Tonight is crucial?"

The doctor thought for a second, and said, "If he can make it by midnight..."

Janet nodded her head, and then rushed to the ICU.

The ICU was a sterile environment, and Caspar was in a critical state. Beside the doctors and nurses, no one was allowed to enter the ICU.

Dillon stood in front of the window with his walking cane, and he looked at Caspar through it with an expressionless face.

"Grandpa Dillon, it's late, you should get some rest now. I'll call you if something happens, " said Janet. She felt very guilty after she heard what had happened. Hobson was disgusting, but If she had not confronted him face to face, Caspar might have probably not ended up in the ICU now.

Dillon reluctantly nodded his head.

Susy then came over and walked Dillon to the elevator.

Janet was standing in the same place as Dillon was, and also looked at Caspar through the window. He was laying peacefully in the bed.

Why hadn't she been the target?

She would not have been feeling guilty if she had been the one that had gotten shot.

As the clock ticked further away into the night, Croft told Janet to get some rest, but Janet refused.

Together, they stayed there, with Caspar.

It was almost midnight, and several doctors and nurses went into the ICU dressed in their sterile gowns.

Janet saw that they were doing all kinds of medical examinations on him, but she did not understand what the data on the equipment meant, whether it brought good, or bad news.
