Alpha Loren novel Chapter 51

November 4th

"Regained consciousness. Going to be okay," Leo said eventually. Bella slumped into Lisa's arms who already had her hand joined to Lia's.

"Thank God," Bella breathed as Maria joined the hug.

"I'm sorry about earlier Leo. I was just upset about Elena," Maria said leaving her sisters and going over to her eldest brother.

"That's alright, but I still go by what I said, understand? No secret training or going behind my back okay?" he said pulling Maria into a hug. She nodded her head in agreement, which surprised me a little.

That doesn't seem like Maria. She just gave into him. She can't be serious, surely?

As Maria turned to go back upstairs, I got her eye and she winked before disappearing out of the room.

Of course she isn't.

"When can we go and see her Leo?" Bella asked, hopefully.

"Maybe after you've had some sleep," Leo said.

Ten minutes later all four girls had gone upstairs to their beds leaving Leo and I in the kitchen. It was the morning but nobody had slept all night.

"Do you not have anything to do?" I asked as he wrapped his arms around my waist.

"I just wanna cuddle for a bit, I've barely seen you all night, I also don't know whether you are aware that Ayas warriors freed the prisoners in the northern prison?" Leo said. "That could mean that Max is lurking around on my territory somewhere."

"He's not. I came across him in the woods and he told me he was going far away from here and you," I answered skipping out the bit about Milly, who Leo clearly didn't know the existence of.

"He didn't... do anything to you did he?" Leo said his muscles tensing slightly.

"No, he saved me from 3 Ayas warriors actually," I answered.

"Are we talking about the same person? The one who handed you into my biggest enemy who is also the one who wants to see you dead most in this world?" Leo said hesitantly.

"Must just be having a good day," I responded with a smile as I rested my head on his chest.

He softly played with my hair as my smile faded.

"I can't believe he killed Scarlet," I whispered. "I can't believe she is dead."

"I can't believe you found someone willing to take on 6 of someone else's kids," Leo said.

"I can't believe any of this has happened. How many people have died Leo?" I asked.

He looked down at me and just continued to stroke my hair.

"How many people have died?" I repeated

"159," He said. "Only 98 were warriors. It's less than I thought, but most of the bodies out there belong to Ayas."

"61 civilians," I whispered tears falling from my eyes again. "61 Scarlets."

For a few minutes, I stood silently in the hallway in Leo's arms.

"Um I know you aren't the best of friends, but do you have any idea where my brother is?" I asked.

"Right here," I heard Luca's voice said as the front door opened. "Any news on Elena?" Luca said as he came into the kitchen with Connor.

"Antonio says she's going to be alright," Leo said as I went over to hug Connor. I noticed Leo's eyes flicker slightly as we made contact, but he seemed okay with it.

"Where are the girls?" Luca asked.

"They've gone to bed for a few hours," Leo answered, that was when I noticed how Connor was looking at Leo.

"Connor no," I hissed. "We've already had enough conflict today," I added hoping Leo couldn't hear even though really I knew he could.

"I can't accept him as your mate" Connor replied hardly audibly whilst looking away from Leo briefly.

"You have no choic," I said clicking my fingers in his face to draw his attention away from Leo again.

Connor sighed and I went back over to Leo.

"I think I'm gonna go and get some sleep too," I said to Leo. He nodded.

"I'll be up in a bit," He replied kissing my forehead.

"Bye Connor, Bye Luca," I said waving weakly. I then headed up to the spare room I had slept in only a night ago.

"Ella psst," I heard a voice say once I reached the top of the stairs.

"I'm not listening to him," Maria said quietly, but firmly from her bedroom door that was creaked open. "I'm starting a training camp for she-wolves. Now that I know Elena is going to get better, she can run it with me."

"I think that's an amazing idea Maria, but how do you plan to do such a thing behind the back of your brother a.k.a Alpha Leonardo Loren?" I asked.

"I'll explain when Elena is better," she said. "Sleep well."

"You too," I said with a smile.
