Alpha Loren novel Chapter 70

November 17th

We reached the house and Leo flicked the light switch and the hallway was immediately illuminated with yellow light.

"I should probably wash my hands..." Leo stated looking down at the now dry blood that covered him.

As Leo went into the kitchen to use the sink I took my shoes off before hearing my phone buzz in my pocket.

I withdrew it and immediately noticed a notification from Amber.

"Who's texting you?" Leo asked from the kitchen.

Shit. Operation try to lie to Leo is a go.

"Oh nobody," I replied stuffing my phone back into my pocket.

"How can nobody text you? He doesn't even have a phone," Leo questioned in a slightly drunk manner.

"Just somebody from school," I clarified.

"Can I see then?" he asked raising an eyebrow and holding his now clean hand out to take my phone.

"Do you not trust me?" I questioned.

"Of course I don't fucking trust me," he said, "Give it to me."

I forced half a smile before placing it in his palm.

"Amber Valentinetti?" Leo stated his voice deepening. "One of them goes to your school you say?"

"Just because you've slept with her doesn't mean we can't be friends. We have at least one thing in common..." I argued.

"I thought I forbade you from talking to her?"

"I'm not talking to her. I haven't replied yet have I?"

He pressed a few buttons on my phone and there were a few beeps, "I deleted her number. Just in case you find yourself accidentally replying or some shit."

"Leo!" I said taking my phone back. "Who gave you the right to dictate who I talk to?"

"I'm Alpha," he said with a shrug. "Why do I have to keep reminding you that?"

I gave him a sarcastic smile before he leant back on the counter and let out a dramatic groan.

"I'm hungry," he announced. "Like really fucking hungry. Do we have any pancakes?"

"You're the one that did the grocery shopping," I replied.

"Did I buy pancakes?" He asked.

"I don't know. I wasn't there," I said.

"I went grocery shopping without you?"

I nodded.

"And I didn't get pancakes?"

I shrugged.

"Waffles?"

I shrugged again.

"Shit," he cursed leaning his forehead against the fridge. "What a fucking disaster."

I placed my fingers on my lips, stifling a laugh.

"It's not funny," he stated.

"I'd make you some pancakes," I offered.

"You would?" he asked his eyes lighting up like a child in a candy shop.

"Of course," I replied, "IF you hadn't treated me like a piece of shit today."

He let out a sigh.

"Can't you just do it because you love me?" he asked taking my hand and kissing it.

"I may love you but I certainly don't like you," I replied.

He put on a pair of puppy eyes.

"Ella please," he said.

I laughed as I shook my head.

He then came forward and lifted me up by my waist and up high above him.

"Please," he repeated as I squealed.

"You know I like to abide by the laws of gravity," I explained. "Put me down, Leonardo."

"Will you make me pancakes if I put you down?" he asked, only lifting me higher.

"No, I'd rather stay up here for the rest of my life," I hissed.

"Wow you're tall!" Leo declared. I wasn't quite sure if he was joking or generally drunkenly mistaken.

"I get that a lot," I replied sarcastically purely for my own amusement.

He then put me back down on the floor before he smiled and began collapsing onto the sofa.

"No, no, no," I said taking his hand. "Let's get you upstairs. You can't pass out here."

"I can," he grumbled. "And I will."

"Get your drunk ass upstairs, Nardo," I said. "Come on."

He dragged himself to his feet and I guided him upstairs to the bedroom where he immediately threw himself on the bed face down.

"You know most people don't sleep in jeans," I pointed out taking off my top and skirt.

He rolled over as I went to look for some pyjamas.

"Come here a second," he replied beckoning with his index finger. I walked to the edge of the bed.

"What?" I asked and he beckoned again with his finger so that I ended up leaning down to him. He reached his hand behind my neck and pulled me down further to his lips. He was a tiny bit more clumsy than usual with his tongue and lips, but it felt good all the same. I knew today I had been denying him all kind of physical affection but right now he was so drunk, did it matter if I gave in just once? And so I let him kiss me and even his hand slip up my top.

He then looked into my eyes stroked his hand along my hair before collapsing back onto the bed.

"You're like super pretty, I couldn't help myself," he grumbled.

"Thanks," I replied before going back to get some shorts and a t-shirt.

"So you agree? You think you're like really pretty?" He asked before giggling to himself.

"Shut up," I replied rolling my eyes. "Were you going to take your jeans off?" I asked perching beside him as he lay horizontally across the bed.

He grunted in response.

"Or move to your side maybe?" I added only to receive another grunt.

I sighed before switching on the lamp and getting up to turn the light off. As I returned Leo's phone began buzzing in his pocket.

"Are you going to answer that?" I asked scrambling into the small amount of covers I could get that he wasn't weighing down.

This time there wasn't even a grunt so I made the decision to answer it for him.

"Hey Luca it's Ella. Leo is unavailable right now due to his slight intoxication," I explained.

"I just wanted to know what type of bananas he buys," Luca replied down the phone.

"Why?" I questioned not really that surprised about the abnormality of the question.

"Because they are so good!"

"But a banana's a banana right?"

"Oh Ella. How simple minded you are," he stated.

"You aren't in the grocery store right now are you?" I asked.

"Why else would I be asking Leo the species of banana he buys?" he replied as if I was being stupid.

"It's midnight Luca and you are way too drunk to be out. Go home," I said.

"Not until I find the onion to my bhaji or the wibble to my wobble," he argued. I let out a chuckle. "Ella this is a serious matter. Stop laughing!"

"Okay okay! I'll go downstairs and see what bloody bananas the Alpha buys," I replied climbing back out of bed again and towards the door.

A minute later I was back in the kitchen and heading straight for the fruit bowl.

"They don't say a name," I told him eventually.

"What?!" he answered totally outraged. "Describe them to me."

"Well...they are yellow...straight with a slight bend...they just look like average bananas to be honest," I explained.

"Again with the simple minded attitude! They aren't any old bananas," he replied. "Do they look more like Musa..acu..minatas or....musa...balb..isanas?"

"No fucking idea Luca."

"Fuck. We really are between a rock and a hard place here Ella," he groaned.

"Why don't you buy a bunch of each?" I asked.

"Because I only brought a dollar," he answered as I made my way back upstairs to see if Leo had stirred.

"So you went to a grocery store, at midnight, with one dollar, to buy bananas?" I questioned.

"That is correct."

"Well guess it will just have to choose and hope for the best because Leo is still totally dead to the world," I concluded as Luca groaned some more.

Soon after we hung up and I put Leo's phone on the bedside table.

I then prodded him a few times in an attempt to get him to move. Eventually, I gave up and began trying to pull him with every ounce of strength within me.

He was heavy, but not unmovable. After a few minutes he was firmly on his side of the bed and I was able to get into mine.

I turned the lamp off and settled down to sleep hoping that Luca was happy with his banana choice.
