Alpha Loren novel Chapter 108

"Let's skip the whole 'who are you? What are you doing here thing?'. Been there done that. All you need to know is I am looking for the Chiaramonti Hereditarium and this is my occasionally useful sidekick," I said kicking open the door that the guard had directed us to after Max had been almost strangling him to death for five minutes straight.

What can I say? We get shit done.

"Now which one of you is a decedent of Hecate Chiaramonti? Your guard told us he would be here."

At the window of the room were three, dark-haired, muscular men. Within moments two had exited the office through a side door leaving the tallest leant casually against the wall.

"Looks like we found our guy," Max said clapping his hands together once.

"Where is the Chiaramonti Hereditarium?" I demanded.

"Italian isn't your mother tongue is it?" the mystery man before me said. "But you speak it very well. Almost fluent in fact," he added slowly walked closer. His eyes were black and devious and on his chin was a neat stubble shaved to the millimetre of perfection.

"I don't see how this is relevant," I responded. "Now answer the question."

"Are you a mother, my dear?" He asked oblivious to my request.

"Yes," I responded sharply.

"Of how many? One? Two? Three? Four? Five?... Six? " He questioned emphasising his final word as if he already knew the truth.

"The latter," I said. His lips cracked into a sentiment smirk. He then slowly walked over to me and gently brushed my hair away from my neck. Softly, he ran his fingers from my jaw to the crook of my neck going over my mark in the process.

"You don't need to tell me who you are Ella Loren. I already know. I also know your Alpha- very well in fact," he said deeply before taking his hand off me. "Did you know that I am a loyal servant of his?"

"Tell me where the Hecate family tree is and I will leave without any trouble," I said beginning to lose my patience with this man.

"You couldn't hurt a fly," he sneered looking me up and down. I raised my left eyebrow.

"I wouldn't underestimate her if I were you..." Max said making himself at home on the black, leather swivel chair giving the man only seconds of warning before his back slammed into the elegantly engraved wall.

"The second this knife comes in contact with your blood, you will be paralysed for twelve hours," I hissed holding the Praesidium Deae Astra under his throat. "By the time you are able to breathe a word of this to anyone, we will be far away."

"You don't know what you're getting yourself into, little girl," he said the same smirk on his face. "Mess with just one of us and you are done for."

"Why not add the Italian Mafia to the long list of people I'm already running from? There is no one in this world that is more 'done for' than me," I replied referring to all the Italian packs and rogues my cousin and I had disturbed in the last three months on top of Leo and my entire pack that are all currently hunting us down. "So tell us the information we need or I will freeze every single muscle in your body within seconds."

"Take it from me, it hurts like a bitch," Max said in a bored tone.

"First-hand experience," I seconded. A glint of fear crossed the man's face. We stood silently for a few moments.

"Chop, chop. We don't have all day," Max said standing up from the chair and casually leaning against the wall next to where I was holding the man.

I narrowed my eyes and pressed the knife on his bare skin.

"Third door on your right, 4th level from the top of the second shelf on the left," the man said eventually.

"Pleasure doing business with you," I said before using the Praesidium Deae Astra to make a small slit on his hand.

"You really are a bitch," Max said in an amused tone as I allowed the man to drop to the floor.

"He was getting on my nerves," I said walking to the door without looking behind.

Nobody messes with Ella Jones either, my friend.
