Arrogant Man VS Unyielding Woman novel Chapter 196

But, the Wen family continued to go too far and cross the line. Not only had they kidnapped her grandmother, they also deliberately gave a dirty meaning to her relationship with Moore after they saw Jean visiting him.

If she didn't teach them a lesson, who knew what else they would do in the future.

"Huh? What does he mean?" Zed turned to Jean and asked with a frown on his face.

Though he knew clearly that Jean came to visit Moore and that they were innocent, Jean was too careless that now, the evil Shirley was using it to spin destructive stories against her.

Shirley has been known to have an evil tongue. Jean knew this as well.

She could have been more careful.

Jean was stunned. She didn't expect Zed to ask her. She merely replied, "It is purely a set up. Shirley used my visit to Moore to sabotage our relationship and tear us apart."

Jean was clearly aware of the situation.

Zed nodded, satisfied with Jean's explanation. He turned his cold stare on to Shirley, "So that is what you also wanted to say?"

All this time, Shirley had been frantically trying to come up with something to turn the situation around to her favor. She got nothing. She just shivered, looked at Zed and kept shaking her head.

"I..."

It's like the cat got her tongue. She couldn't speak another single word.

Damn it. Was she wrong this time? Seeing Zed's protective attitude toward Jean, she knew that it would be impossible to go further today. It might only make it worse for her.

"I am just concerned about your relationship. If there really was nothing between them, then I must have seen it wrongly. Now that you are here to pick up your wife, I won't bother either of you any more." Shirley forced a smile and turned to leave.

Winner had not completely processed in his head what just happened. He looked at Shirley's quick receding back, looked towards Zed and Jean, then back at Shirley.

"Wait..." Zed yelled out at Shirley.

Confused, she turned around and asked stiffly, "Brother-in-law, is there anything else?"

"You seem to have forgotten what I have told you last time. I have warned you. If you dared mess up with Jean again, I would not be merciful to the Wen family. Remember? I even told you to think about it. Have you not given it any thought? You never change. You never did and you never will. You have brought trouble to yourself and you deserve it."

Zed's expression said it all. He continued, "Since your family likes looking for trouble, then I'll let you have it."

There was coldness and cruelty in Zed's voice and on his face.

Shirley's heart sank. She knew how powerful Zed could be when he wanted to. With a frightened look, she staggered toward him, weakly shaking her head and tears welling up in her eyes. "No! Please don't, Mr. Qi. Our family is in a very difficult situation. You can't do this to us... Please... I am begging you..."

Shirley was scared to death and close to dropping on her knees. She liked to play tricks to make trouble between Zed and Jean, but it didn't mean that she was stupid.

If Zed did something to the Wen family, they would truly have no place to stay in H City.

Seeing Zed's stern and unforgiving expression, Shirley grabbed Jean's hand. Her fear was getting out of control and she was about to break down. She got so weak that her body started drooping to the floor as she started to beg, "I know I have done many terrible things. But you can't just sit from a distance and watch your father die. The Wen family... can't afford any more trouble."

Tears flowed uncontrollably down her cheeks.

Jean was surprised and she looked at Shirley who was a complete mess. She wasn't sure how she felt about her deceitful half sister acting like a victim.

To her memory, Shirley had always either arrogantly bullied her or complacently sneered at her, since childhood.

Now, she was begging her in such a humble manner. It was strange to see her like this.

Jean looked indecisive. She was struggling in her mind.

She knew that she couldn't be softhearted at this moment.

If she hadn't heard the nurse with her own ears last night, she probably would show no mercy.

But if Zed really made any action, then the Wen family would be doomed.

She did not care for anything but Henry, her father.

Thinking of him, Jean took a deep breath. What to say of him?

Though he didn't treat her as a daughter, she had his blood running in her veins. She couldn't burn bridges and turn her back on him to let him die.

She was not heartless enough to do it.

"Jean..." Zed furrowed. Seeing Jean's entangled look, he had a bad feeling. He sort of knew what his wife was about to say.

"Zed, I want to talk to you." Jean walked to Zed and looked at him.

Zed knew what Jean would say. But he still let Jean lead him to the lawn.

"Don't tell me that you have become softhearted and changed your mind." Before Jean could speak, Zed cut in and furrowed.

"You know better than I do, that the Wen family is in a difficult situation. Any action you do now, would kill Henry Wen. He... is even barely alive now and hasn't much time left." Jean said with a heavy heart.

"You have heard the news about him?" Zed's face changed and said surprisingly, "Jean, I don't blame you. It is hard to completely turn your back on your family. Blood is thicker than water. But have you forgotten the way you were treated and the sufferings that you have gone through?"

"I haven't." Jean shook her head, sighed and explained, "Last night, I heard Shirley arguing with a nurse. I know that Henry Wen... is really sick this time. And the Wen family is in deep trouble. None of these is my doing. They deserve it. But, Zed, anyway, I am of the Wen family. No matter how bad our relationships are, I don't want to take advantage of their precarious situation.

Zed, I believe that after this, the Wen family would no longer retrieve its glorious past. As long as we make clear our attitude not to harm them and they promise not to get in our way, I think this time Shirley would definitely learn her lesson and behave well. Why not let the trouble disappear rather than solve it by yourself? What do you think?"

Jean implored sincerely, looking at her husband's eyes.

"I don't know what to do with you." Zed couldn't help but caress the back of her head and stare at her with his soft eyes, "What else could I do? I have to give in to your request, since you have successfully convinced me."

"Zed, you are such a wonderful man!" Hearing Zed's answer, Jean was overcome with joy and excitement.

Seeing her face blushing, Zed swallowed and held her close. "Jean, now that I have promised not to touch your family, you will have to serve me well tonight."

Zed's face was flirtatious. He gazed at Jean with soft eyes, and then gently lifted her cheeks and leaned on her forehead.

Warm breath was exhaled on her face. The mist carried his strong hormones flying in the air.

Jean's face turned red and she lowered her head trying to hide her own excitement, looking forward to that night.
