Arrogant Man VS Unyielding Woman novel Chapter 213

"Stay where you are! Don't come closer." Jean raised her voice. Their relentless behavior had caused Jean to lose her temper.

Jean's yelling stunned the two guys and even Maranda. They froze as they looked at Jean with surprise.

She was already showing more than a hint of impatience. Sensing that she may have overdone it, Jean glanced over Ron and Calvin's faces and forced a smile at Maranda who didn't know what to say. "Thanks everyone for coming. I am also glad that I came. But you don't have to drive me home. I have already made arrangements for a taxi to pick me up. And as for you two gentlemen, I think you must be clear about why I came here tonight. You are smart and sensible men, aren't you? Do you think it is worth your time to badger me like this?"

"How could it not be?" Calvin grimaced as he replied, "Essentially, I just came here with Ron for fun. However, I wasn't expecting to see a wonderful and entertaining show like this. It's been absolutely fun for me. Jean, you really surprised me a lot. Maybe it's because I have lived abroad for too long, the current social scene here has already become unfamiliar to me. May I have the pleasure of asking you to help me with it?"

"What do you mean?" Maranda instantly tensed up and leaned forward after hearing what Calvin said.

"He meant nothing. He just wanted to invite your friend to hang out another day." Ron explained.

"Ohh, with a guy as conceited as him? She would definitely not agree, right Jean?" Maranda said in a ruffled tone as she glanced at her friend before turning back over to glare at Ron.

"I'm not compelling you. You have the right to say no. But I should remind you first, you wouldn't want to let Maranda's parents know what happened tonight, would you?" Calvin replied without looking up, inspecting his fingernails.

"You..." Maranda's aggressive look faded immediately after hearing Calvin's words. She was still pissed but she didn't know what to say back to Ron's cocky friend.

By this time, Jean realized that she had gotten herself in trouble.

Instead of turning them off, Jean's obnoxious appearance and behavior were so eye-catching and out of the ordinary that it impressed them. Jean's face soured as she realized that her plan had backfired.

Ron was an excellent and outstanding man who had a strong sense of dignity and he had come here essentially just for fun. He would in no way put up seeing himself involved in Maranda's plan to sabotage this date.

It was obvious that they were threatening Jean!

After being made fools with Jean's eccentric show, they now wanted Jean and Maranda to give in to their demands. This was the perfect way to get even with these two conniving ladies and make themselves feel better.

Coming to realize this, Jean suddenly suffered a headache.

It seemed that everything had been going against Jean tonight, making it impossible for her to get through the evening peacefully.

Bad luck was really picking on her this time.

Jean unwillingly raised her head and found that Maranda's face had already been full of worry. She realized that Calvin's threat had really gotten to Maranda. However, it was unfair for Maranda to get in any trouble because Jean was the one who had messed up the evening.

"Well, how about this! We are not proud of what we did tonight, but it's too late to talk about this now. To show my sincerity and regret, Maranda and I would like to meet you both again. You name the time and place. I think that is quite fair, don't you think? We apologize for our arrogance and for our misconception of you two!" Jean squeezed a flattering smile as she asked.

"Jean…" Maranda glared over to Ron before turning to Jean and saying, "Don't worry about it Jean. I will probably just get a lengthy lecture at worst if my father found out about this. We don't have to bow down to these two jerks."

"Maranda, we're the ones who made the mistake in the first place. We should take the responsibility and have the courage to admit it." Jean hastened to appease Maranda and added, "Don't you see that Ron and Calvin are giving us an opportunity to not cause you any more trouble? Regardless of the relationship between your parents and Ron's, you two may become good friends after having a good talk.

"Friends?" Maranda looked again at Ron with contempt and said in a disgusted tone, "I don't believe so! It's enough for me to have you as my friend. I don't want to make any other friends at all."

"I agree with Jean." Ron didn't get irritated with Maranda. Instead, he motioned towards Jean with smile, "I think Jean is right. We could become good friends. Maranda, don't you hate being pressured by your parents to go on blind dates? If you refuse to meet me to talk about a possible cooperation, you will only get stuck in your agony, going on blind dates again and again."

"So you hate going on blind dates too?" Maranda asked with surprise. Ron's words had gotten Maranda's attention.

"Absolutely! Why do you think I came out here tonight with Calvin tagging along?" Ron countered with a smile.

The moment Maranda heard Ron's words, she had forgotten about her anger and displeasure. She clapped and said with a chuckle, "You are right. I must have been too pissed and preoccupied to notice. Okay, now that we all hate dating, when we can arrange for our next appointment?"

"And together with your friend, Jean, of course. She is going to be very helpful to our cooperation." Ron winked at Maranda as he said this.

"Okay. Sure, I understand." Maranda had transformed into a different person from when she arrived earlier tonight. She reached out her hands and patted Ron on the shoulder, as if talking to a brother. "You could have just told me earlier. If we have known your true purpose, we wouldn't have been so aggressive towards you."

Ron reacted with a bitter smile. He studied Maranda's smiling face in an inconspicuous manner. A slight trace of a twinkle flashed across his deep-set eyes.

Seeing Maranda being subdued so easily by Ron, Jean grimaced in disappointment, touching her aching forehead and heaved a sigh. How could Maranda be so na?ve that she could spill out all her plans to a man whom she hadn't thoroughly known?

Ron was in no way a simple person and never to be underestimated.

If he had Maranda trapped, it would definitely be impossible for her to get away from his control. She could only accept it and regret it endlessly.

"Since we now have a deal, we can drive you home now! Calvin, take care of Jean." Ron changed back to his original kind expression, looking at his friend.

"Thanks. But I'm not going with you. You need only take Maranda home if you want. My home is very close from here and the taxi I called has already arrived." Jean quickly refused and then made eye contact with Maranda to signal her for support.

Maranda immediately understood what Jean meant. She flashed another smile, "Yes, it's true. It's really unnecessary to take her home. Ron and Calvin, thank you both for your concern."

If Zed found out that Jean was driven home by either guy, he would definitely be enraged and no one knew what he would do to Jean.

It was too risky to be seen with them, much worse to get driven home. Zed's jealousy was just too dangerous for Jean.

Ron and Calvin were confused. However, it would be too unnatural for them to insist further. So they just let it go.

"Okay, as you wish. It will be ungentlemanly for us if we push too much. We will bid goodbye for now and hope to see you soon. Take care, Jean."

The four of them stepped out of the club together. Seeing the taxi that Jean had reserved, Ron quickly approached it and opened the door for her.

"Thanks." Jean then smiled at Ron and waved her hand to the other two before getting into the backseat and left.

"Ron, take care of Maranda, I am leaving, as well." Calvin said with a smile. He then got into another taxi and left.

"Didn't Calvin drive to come here?" Maranda asked Ron trying to remember what she saw earlier that evening.

"Em…" Ron's face showed a bit of embarassment. He then explained, "He had just come back from abroad. There is still no car available for him and he also needed time to go through the licensing procedures."
