Zed burst into laughter immediately after the words came out of Jean's mouth.

Upon hearing Zed's laughter, a bitter sadness and anger took over her. Zed hurriedly stopped laughing when he saw that Jean was glaring at him furiously. Then, he said seriously,"Jean, I know that you were really scared a couple of minutes ago. But saying that Jesse tried to kill you is an exaggeration! Well, don't be angry now. You can vent your anger on me if any..."

While he was finishing his sentence, Zed saw that Jean was abruptly running towards him.

At the sight of that, a small smile appeared on his face since Zed thought that Jean was coming for a hug. He assumed that Jean was still soft-hearted, so she cooled herself down after his short persuasion.

Assuming this, Zed stretched his hands out, in an attempt to give her a hug.

But to his shock, Jean rushed towards him, clenched her fists and fiercely swung them at him.

"Zed, you son of a bitch. Are you going to trust me only if I die?" As these words were uttered, her heart was wrought with fear and anger, because of which, her eyes turned reddish immediately.

Zed was stunned on hearing her words. He hadn't thought that Jean would react so intensely. Looking at her reddish eyes, he became anxious and had no idea what to do.

'Why are women so impervious and so hard to understand?

Can anyone please help me to calm her down?' Zed mumbled.

"Jean, what are you talking about?" Zed was so anxious that he tried to comfort her. He added,"Jesse was just joking with you. How could you associate it with death? From now on, I won't allow you to talk nonsense..."

Before Zed could finish his words, Jean struck his back with her fists again and again like raindrops. "Just shut up! I don't want to hear any words being uttered out of your mouth. Zed, you son of a bitch. You always pretend like my words have no value in your heart. When I complain about others, you immediately stop me and complain that I talk nonsense.

What can I expect from a man like you? You and Jesse have been together since you were a child. So you almost always trust her, right? And now the two of you can bully me together. "I dare you to say that again," Zed said with a grumpy face and an intense gaze.

"You are a wretched human-being! Wretched! Now what will you do?" Jean stared at him furiously and added,"I said that again. Now what?"

"No, it is not that. I asked you to repeat what you said before that..." Zed replied, with knitted eyebrows.

"Hmm..." Jean snorted coldly and impatiently against Zed's question. The rage had made her forget everything and she couldn't remember her words.

"Jean......" Zed turned his face closer to her. They were so close to each other that Jean could even feel his warm smell. Then, Zed said,"You can be naughty, lose temper in front of me, or turn cold but divorce! How can you mention that? I absolutely won't allow you to mention divorce..."

By that moment, Jean had finally understood why Zed's face had suddenly become grumpy. Upon hearing his words, she immediately sneered and retorted,"Zed, you even can't bear me mentioning divorce? Anyway, I know that you don't want to divorce me because you are afraid that your self-esteem may be negatively impacted and ruined..."

"Whatever you say, I don't care. I have told you that you can beat or scold me, but I won't allow you to mention that again," Zed replied, looking cross.

"You..." Jean wished badly to retort him in a very loud voice and repeat divorce forcefully in front of him.

But she was clear that Zed would really lose his temper if she dared to mention that again.

She didn't fear that he would get angry. Instead, she just felt that she would never win in arguing with him about this.

So she decided she would solve their current problem rather than waste time and energy in something that she couldn't win.

"Zed, we need to talk." Jean changed her tone and asked him in a calm voice.

Zed calmed himself down as he saw that Jean wasn't as agitated and furious as before. He nodded at her and said,"What do you want to talk about?"

"I only want to confirm with you about one thing. You don't believe that Jesse would do something bad to hurt me, right?" With her gaze fixed on him, Jean asked him seriously.

Zed involuntarily let out a deep sigh as that question was dropped on him.

"Jean, what's wrong with you? Why do you have so many complaints about Jesse? I know that you have been feeling uncomfortable since you saw us sleeping on the same bed as she is not my biological sister. How many times on earth do you want me to explain to you that there is nothing between us? That day, as I have told you again and again, nothing happened between us."

Despite his anger, Zed tried hard to explain to her patiently.

"You have told me about all of this earlier." A tinge of disappointment was shown on Jean's face. Then, she added in an unyielding tone,"I don't want to always hold a grudge against your relationship but... "

Before she could finish her words, Jean smirked and shook her head. Then, she added,"Zed, haven't you realized that she will always be the most trustworthy person in your life? I don't stand a chance! You believe her, no matter what she does or says. But the same can't be said about me; you never trust me!

Zed, is it because I am a loser? Or is it because we haven't gotten acquainted with each other as long as the two of you? Whatever the reason is, I feel frustrated and tired. As soon as she finished her speaking, Jean climbed into bed without casting another glance at Zed and immediately covered her own face with the quilt.

Zed asked, while he rubbed Jean's head with a towel.

"I cannot promise you anything," Jean replied expressionlessly with her eyes wide open.
