Billionaire Lost to His Surrogate In A Love Game novel Chapter 206

Zachariah met Bradwen’s gaze, aware that it was a battle between men, and he would lose the fight in an unguarded moment.

Just as Zachariah was about to speak, Helena’s voice came behind him, saving him from embarrassment.

"I heard that Cora was sent to hospital, so I came to visit her. What happened exactly? Why was she sent to hospital all of a sudden?"

Zachariah heaved a sigh and walked up to Helena, asking, "Mom, why are you here?"

Helena cast a glance at him and whispered, "Zachariah, look what you’ve done. I’ll talk to you about it later."

Zachariah simply listened to her silently.

Helena threw another glance at him and put on an anxious look at once, quickly making for the Fletcher couple.

"Bradwen, I heard that Cora was sent to hospital. So what’s exactly going on? Why was she sent to hospital all of a sudden?" Helena pretended to be worried and asked.

Gwylan glanced at Helena with mixed feelings and said, "You should be the happiest one to see Cora sent to hospital, right?"

Helena replied calmly, "The Fletcher family and the Chambers family have been friends for years. If you must think of me as an evil person, I can do nothing about it, but I don’t want to see Cora in the operating room either."

Seething with anger, Gwylan scowled at Helena.

Bradwen patted Gwylan on the shoulder, turned to Helena and comforted her, "Helena, Gwylan puts her foot in her mouth because she’s too anxious. Don’t take it to heart."

Helena shook her head knowingly, looking worried. "How long has it been since Cora was sent to the operating room? Did the surgeon say anything?"

Bradwen shook his head with a careworn look on his face. "We just arrived, and we know nothing about the details. It was Zachariah who told us about it, so I think he’s the only one who knows what happened."

Helena turned to look at Zachariah. "Zachariah, what’s going on? Why was Cora sent to hospital?"

Zachariah shook his head and replied, "I’m not clear about it either. Someone called me and here I am. Cora hasn’t come out of the operating room yet, so I also have no idea what happened to her."

Gwylan, nonetheless, was fuming.

"Zachariah Chambers, what kind of man are you? Cora is madly in love with you and pregnant with your child. She also gave up her bright future for the sake of you, but now her life is at stake, while you’re making the idle talk outside the operating room. Do you have any conscience left?" Extremely upset, Gwylan blamed Zachariah for Cora’s accident.

However, Zachariah remained calm.

Helena’s face darkened, and she said, "Gwylan, I know you’re very worried about Cora, but Zachariah isn’t clear about the whole story either, yet you tell him off right off the bat? As his mother, do you know how I feel when I see you treating him like that?"

Before Gwylan could talk back, Bradwen gave her shoulder a little squeeze and said apologetically, "Helena, please don’t get mad at her. Gwylan’s just too worried about Cora."

Helena pulled a long face.

Neither woman would give in, but at this moment, the light of the operating room finally went out, and a group of surgeons and nurses came out.

The Fletcher couple rushed up to them immediately. Gwylan grabbed the surgeon, who walked at the head of the group, by the arm and asked, "How’s my daughter, sir?"

Looking tired, the head surgeon answered her patiently, "Please calm down, lady. Your daughter’s doing fine, but she lost the baby. Since she had excessive loss of blood and her uterus got hurt, I’m afraid she might not be able to get pregnant again. So, be prepared for the worst."

Hearing that, Gwylan stumbled and almost fainted.

Looking devastated, Bradwen held Gwylan and said, "Sir, you were joking, weren’t you? My daughter has always been healthy. Even if she lost the baby this time, she’ll still be able to get pregnant in the future, right?"

The head surgeon replied, "Sir, we’re sorry for what happened to your daughter, but she lost so much blood this time, and too much time was wasted before she was sent here. Therefore, not only did she lose the baby, but her uterus was severely affected too. I’m afraid it’ll be hard for her to get pregnant again, but I’m not saying she definitely won’t be able to have a baby. As long as she’s taken good care of, chances are she’ll get pregnant again."

Gwylan wrenched herself free from Bradwen’s arms, seized the surgeon by the collar and snarled, "What do you mean by 'Chances are she’ll get pregnant again if she’s taken good care of'? My daughter is a kind and beautiful girl, and she’s nearly perfect. She will have as many babies as she wants. How dare you curse my daughter!"

The head surgeon got embarrassed, while the other surgeon and nurses gathered around him. "Lady, please calm down. When the patient was sent here, she had already lost too much blood, and we exerted ourselves to save her life. As for the baby, we’re also sorry that she lost it. Please try to understand us."

Gwylan seemed to be on the brink of collapse.

"My daughter is perfect. It’s all because of you quacks that she was turned into a wreck! I’ll sue the whole hospital if you don’t restore her to health! I’ll make all of you never be able to work in the hospital again!"
