“Crack!”

A loud crash of thunder broke the silence of the night.

“Ah...” Linda Yun suddenly woke up with a scream.

“What’s wrong?” asked Michael in a sleepy voice. He woke up as soon as he heard the scream.

Sitting on the bed, Linda Yun realized that it was raining heavily outside. The rain s hit the window, making slight crackling sounds.

She didn’t say a word, instead, she just stared at the window. It seemed that she was thinking about something deeply in her mind.

“Did you have a nightmare just now?” Michael held Linda Yun in his arms to comfort her.

The sweat on her forehead had already made her hair wet. She slowly turned around and looked at him, eyes filled with fear and worry.

“What happened?”

Seeing her expression made Michael frown.

Linda Yun didn’t know why she could be like this. She quickly threw back the covers and said, “I’ll go to find George!”

Michael immediately got up and got in front of her saying, “What’s wrong? Didn’t we agree to pick him up tomorrow?

Linda Yun didn’t reply him. She was about to open the door without wearing shoes.

Michael walked to her and grabbed her wrist, “Look at me. Tell me, what’s wrong?”

Linda Yun stopped and slowly turned her sight to him, frowning. Her expression showed that she was frightened. Then she opened her mouth and said, “I, I just dreamed that...”

Tears fell down from her eyes before she could finish saying her words.

“Linda, I will go now. Take care of yourself and live a happy life!”

The voice was so clear.

It’s more like someone was whispering to her ears.

“Why do you cry?” Michael immediately took her into his arms and persuaded, “Don’t cry. You had a nightmare just now, right? Don’t worry. I’m here with you! Don’t be afraid!”

He knew that too many things had happened these days.

He reached out to get the phone and opened it.

Then Linda Yun walked to the dinning－table and looked at Michael saying, “Let’s go to the hospital now. George must have been waiting for a long time!”

Michael’s hand which held a spoon obviously paused. Then he looked up to her as his pupils slightly narrowed.

“Can, can you come to the Z City with me?”

Linda Yun frowned asking, “Go to the Z City?”

“Yes. I have a very important contract to sign there. But I don’t feel well today. Can you go with me?” Michael stared at her with his unnatural sight.

Linda Yun bit her lips.

Michael didn’t force her. He was waiting for her answer.

“Okay, but I should call George to tell him that we will go to pick him up later!” Then she took out her phone to call him.

Seeing that, Michael immediately stopped her and said, “I called him this morning!”

Linda Yun paused and then smiled, “Really? You did it so early. Well, when will we set out?”

“Right now!” Michael stood up and straightly stepped to her, holding her hand and taking her out.

Linda Yun got mixed up. “I haven’t changed my clothes. Isn’t it too casual? After all, you are going to sign a contract. It’s about business affairs.”

“It’s okay!” answered Michael without turning his head back. Then he got into the car with her.

Sitting in the car, Linda Yun took out her phone and was intended to turn it on. But before she could do that, her phone was taken away by Michael.

Linda Yun got speechless with his behaviour.

“Can you talk with me? Tell me about your childhood, okay?”

Linda Yun was a bit surprised for his request. But she didn’t mind it and said, “Okay!”

The Z City was not far away from the Austral City. It would take about three hours to get there.

Michael kept silent on the road, listening to Linda Yun talking about what happened when she was small.

Occasionally she referred to George Mo.

Michael finally knew that George Mo helped Linda Yun a lot during the past three years.

He also got to know how important George Mo was in Linda Yun’s heart.

Hearing Linda Yun’s words made Michael knitted his brows.

She cared about George Mo so much, so what would happen if she knew that her brother had lost his life?

Michael suddenly stopped his car on the emergency line with a sharp sound.

The sudden braking made Linda Yun move forward instantly even though she was wearing a seat belt.

“What’s wrong?” Linda Yun was frightened.

Michael turned his dark eyes to her. Panic, sorrow and struggle filled his eyes.

Looking into his eyes, Linda Yun couldn’t help frowning and saying, “Michael...”

Michael didn’t give her a response. He just turned the direction at the crossing road ahead.

“Well, why do you change the direction now? Aren’t we going to the Z City now?” asked Linda Yun confused. They could arrive in one hour but Michael was driving back now!

Michael kept driving silently without giving a word.

Linda Yun couldn’t understood his intention and she began to fall uneasy for his abnormal behaviour.

It took them another two hours to come back.

No one spoke a word on the road.

Only the sound of the air conditioner could be heard in the car.

Two hours later, the car ran to the road of the hospital.

Soon after that, Michael drove the car to the underground garage.

He braked to a halt and switched off, his hands holding the steering wheel tightly.

He didn’t move a bit, but his expression on his face was pretty different.

Linda Yun didn’t leave her seat too. After a while, she looked at Michael and asked tenderly, “Why, why do you go back?”

Michael didn’t know how to answer her question. He could only hold the steering wheel more tightly, which made his blue veins stood out on his hands.

At the same time, Linda Yun got more nervous.

She began to be flustered.

She tried to manage a smile on her face. But her smile looked so unnatural.

“What’s wrong? Are you keeping something from me?”

Michael still refused to reply.

Linda Yun fell into silence.

He just said that he was going to sign an important contract in the Z City.

But he went back when they were arriving there.

He took away her phone and let her keep talking on the road.

Something suddenly occurred to Linda Yun’s mind. She quickly opened the seat belt and was going to open the door of the car.

Michael quickly grabbed her hand.

Linda Yun looked back to him, she could saw that there was something different in his eyes. The colour of his eyes had turned to be rather dark and there seemed to be pain in them.

“He, he jump from a building last night!” Michael lowered his eyes. His body made a shadow under the light of the car.

Linda Yun got stunned as soon as she heard what he said.

She couldn’t help frowning. Her eyes shone under the light and her expression indicated how incredible the news was to her. But she still kept smiling, even though her smile was not sweet at all. “Who? Who jumped from a building?” asked Linda Yun.

Her palms gradually got sweaty in great uneasiness.

Michael felt heart ache as he looked at her face, but he didn’t know how to help her.

His Adam’s apple rolled and then he said in a low voice, “Linda, George Mo lives a painful life. He suffers from serious depression so he had to take so many pills to control himself and keep clear－headed by hurting himself. Maybe, maybe, it’s a relief for him to die...”

Linda Yun Knitted her brows, staring incredulously at him.

“Linda...”

Her sight made Michael felt scared.

He tried to held her wrist tightly.

“So... Do you mean that the one who jumped from a building is... George?” Linda Yun frowned, smiled. Her voice told Michael that she didn’t believe it at all.

He stared at her for two seconds, and then added in a husky voice, “He jumped from a high building last night. And he was dead on the spot!”

Linda Yun didn’t speak a word. But she burst into tears quickly.

She got shocked for a few seconds and then she got rid of his hands fiercely. “Michael, today is not April Fool’s Day. And this jock is not funny at all!”

With those words, she quickly opened the door and ran upstairs.

How could it be possible?

How could the one be George?

He just promised to her that he would live well and stopped drinking alcohol. He said that he would go to find a sister－in－law for her!

How could he jump from the building?
