Can't Let Go novel Chapter 181

“Dad...no... Don’t leave me don’t leave Laura...”

Boom! There was a sudden clap of thunder.

The little one who was tucking in her bed was waken and gave out a exclaim, “Dad...”

It was dream. It was Dream again.

The small hand of hers wiped tears stains on her face.

She dreamed of the very night when her father left again.

It had already been ten days since her father was gone..

But she still couldn’t accept this fact.

The door was knocked. A low and masculine voiced echoed from the other side of the door, “Miss, is anything alright?”

“No, I’m fine...” Laura Su replied in a hurry.

“Okay. If you need anything, just let me know!”

The sound of that man’s footsteps faded away.

Laura glanced around the room with her big, wide-open and tearful eyes. A sense of terror suddenly stroke her.

She huddled herself up, and and curled up to the bedside.

This was not the Su family.

This was the Huo family in Austral City,

the richest man in the city--Uncle Huo’s family...

Uncle Huo...

She had never had the chance to see that mysterious guy thought she had been here for three days.

Butler Pan had told her to call him Uncle Huo...

Well...

He must be an old guy!

The moment just before her father’s death, he made a phone call.

Soon after his father’s funeral was well finished,

she was sent to Austral City and was kept in this huge and isolated mansion...

The pouring rain just didn’t seem to stop outside her window.

While she couldn’t fall asleep this night.

She picked up her mobile phone with a cartoon shell. It was 1 a.m. in the morning...

Her stomach rumbled.

Okay...

Her belly was protesting.

She recalled that she didn’t eat much last night.

She didn’t like this place for she had to obey so many rules here.

Butler Pan had said that she was not allowed to speak during the meal.

He had also noted that no phone when she was eating.

Of course, no sound could be made at the table...

But she was used to talk with her dad when having meals.

She also liked to watched her favorite cartoon with her dad at the table.

What’s more, she preferred to smacked her lips to attract her dad’s attention...

But now...

Tears welled up in her eyes. Her lips twitched as if she wanted to restrain from bursting into tears.

Out of a sudden, she just failed to hold them back...

After a while, the girl stopped crying as she felt her belly was aching.

Hungry, she’s really hungry.

She got out of the bed barefoot, opened the door and was about to see what was like outside...

For an instant, a maid appeared from nowhere.

“Miss, what would you like?”

Laura was shocked and “Bang”, she shut the door.

She really didn’t like this place.

There were maids everywhere in this giant castle.

she felt that she was being watched 24 hours a day.

Soon, the door was knocked once again.

“Miss!”

Butler Pan called from the other side of the room door.

Laura slightly frowned her eyebrow, traipsed to the door, looked out and smiled awkwardly to ask, “Uncle Pan, are you calling me?”

“Miss, what do you want?” Butler Pan inquired patiently.

“Gu——”

Before she had the chance to reply him, her belly was protesting loudly.

Suddenly, she felt embarrassed that her face flushed.

Then Butler Pan said accordingly, “So you must be hungry. Let’s go to the kitchen. The chef is here. What do you wanna have?”

On hearing this, the girl beamed and walked out of her bedroom, “I want noodles!”

But Butler Pan frowned and said, “Miss, you forgot your shoes!”

Laura looked down, stuck out her tongue and dashed back to wear her shoes.

Then she just followed Butler Pan downstairs.

“Uncle Pan, it’s too late. Why chef’s not sleeping at this moment? Does he have to be on duty?” The girl asked curiously.

Butler Pan still held the iconic calm expression and replied slowly, “Because Mr Huo is having his meal downstairs.”

“Ah, so Mr Huo is hungry...”

She was suddenly stuck, stooped stepping down the stairs and gazed at Butler Pan.

“Uncle Pan, are you saying... Mr Huo, no, Uncle Huo... is having his meal downstairs?”

“Correct!”

Laura was speechless for a moment.

“Are you alright, Miss?”

Butler Pan saw her stop and bite her lips as if she was pretty anxious.

“No, nothing. I’m just... curious about Uncle Huo having meal late at night...”

“Mr Huo’s always busy. He has lots of business meetings and banquets. He couldn’t have his meals on time. So the kitchen will prepare his midnight snack everyday in case he would be feeling like eating some one day.” Uncle Pan explained evenly.

“Well...” The girl answered in a little voice and continued to follow him downstairs.

But numerous doubts were occupying her mind when she was going down.

She was desperate to know what that custodian uncle was like.

Did he have potbelly? Middle-aged? Or very easy-going?

She stepped down behind Butler Pan with an anxious mood.

The Huo family’s house was really big, which was several times larger than her old home.

The distance from the living room to the kitchen took her forever to walk.

It was beyond her imagination that how wealthy the man was to have this grand mansion in this extremely expensive city.

A man was sitting at a five meters long dining table in this enormous dining hall.

He was sitting upright and enjoying his food in a proper dining manner.

“Sir, Miss is hungry.” Butler Pan walked to him and said.

“Let the kitchen cook some food.” The guy’s voice was enchanting. He was the kind that could make an unforgettable impression by merely one sentence.

Laura was interested in him and she tried to look up to see this man.

But her eyes looked right into that pair of mysterious eyes.

Being frightened, she lowered her head and clutched her shirt hem worriedly.

She didn’t see it clear what this guy looked just now.

She only remembered a pair of eyes, which were...

different, and fearful...

“Miss, please sit. I’ll have the kitchen to cook some noodles for you.” After saying that, Butler Pan left the room for her food.

Laura was sitting motionlessly opposite the man and didn’t dare to look up at him.

The atmosphere was a little bit awkward in the dining room.

“You’re afraid of me?” The man asked in a gently voice.

“No, no...”

Apparently, her quivering voice betrayed her.

“Look up!”

Laura was all mixed up on hearing his order.

Her fingers were tangling unconsciously together and her doll-like eyelashes were quivering.

“Look at me!”

The man gave his order again whose voice obviously turned cold this time.

Laura didn’t dare to hesitate that she raised her head for the next second as if she was to be doomed.

But then she was stuck.

He’s not old.

Not at all.

This was the first impression of hers to him.

This uncle was handsome, whose facial features were exquisitely perfect, especially that pair of eyes.

He was even more charming than those Arabic models on magazine covers.

Debra Huo’s narrow sharp eyes were fixing on her, from which a cold and stern glint was shown.

His eyes were cold as ice that made her feel very uncomfortable.

“Mr... Mr Huo...” She tried to call him in a shaking voice.

“Uh-hum?” Debra Huo put up some friendliness and moved his lips, “From now on, I’m your custodian till you get married!”

Laura was shocked with her mouth wide open.

“Any problem?”

Debra Huo asked her again as he saw her being this astonished.

Laura shook her head, sighed and fiddled her fingers subconsciously.

He said he would keep her under his guardian till the day she got married...

Got married...

She was just seventeen,

She felt it was an extremely long period of time.

“I’ve arranged a school for you. You get up at 7:30 a.m., have breakfast and you will have a driver to take you to school!”

“I can go to the school?” Laura raised her head and was surprised.

Debra Huo didn’t reply but taking a sip of the tea.

“What? You wish someone will come here to teach you at home as before?”

“No, no, no, I will go to the school if you ask me to!” She grabbed his hand and implored, fearing that he would change his mind.

Debra Huo lowered his eyes and looked at that pair of fair white little hand were clutching and shaking his.

She looked down with his sights and noticed what she was doing.

She, she was holding his hand?

“Ah—”

She was shocked and pulled her hand away quickly.

Then she just stood up, took a bow and explained hastily, “So, so, sorry, Uncle Huo...”

She forgot herself.

She was over excited.

But the man seemed to be indifferent to her panic-stricken apologies and continued to finish his food.

Laura made a face awkwardly.

She really couldn’t be blamed for that...

As a matter of fact, she did not have mother all these seventeen years.

So her father spoiled her and gave all his love to her.

He built up a shield and protected her from being harmed.

So she received home schooling early from the age of going to kindergarten.

Although she had protested for a number of times, her father had never changed his mind.

And at present, Mr Huo said that she could go to school.

This was the kind of school life she had been dreaming of...

She was exerting her greatest efforts to restraining from laughing.

“Miss, here is your noodles.” Butler Pan placed it before her.

“Thank you, Uncle Pan.” The girl’s eyes were like a pair of crystals while her smiley eyes were like two crescent moons.

Uncle Pan smiled back involuntarily. But on thinking his identity of a housekeeper so he just coughed and stopped.

While Laura didn’t notice this, she was completely attracted by this nice big bowl of noodles.

And she started to have big mouthfuls with chopsticks.

Debra Huo put down his knife and forks and stared at her as he noticed her making some noises when having the noodles.

The maiden before his eyes was even younger than his own sister.

She had a lovely round face, pinky thin lips, fair skin, and an impressively dimpled chin. To his surprise, she even had a pair of pure, clear, and bright eyes.

It was not clear what she was thinking about at the moment that she just beamed at him like a little fairy.

What Laura’s father had said to him echoed in Debra Huo’s mind once again.

“Mr Huo, I’m aware that this marriage contract is what your grandfather arranged. I, of course, hope my daughter would be happy. So if you don’t love her, I’d suggest you leave her and break this promise. And after I die, I wish you could be her guardian for me as she grows up and till the day she gets married!”
