Can't Resist the Billionaire novel Chapter 51

After the car was pulled over, I got out of the car with Duke and went to inspect the villa. It was a duplex villa with fine decoration, which looked very luxurious. It seemed that Duke wasn't lying. He had planned to live in it, otherwise, the villa wouldn't be so luxuriously decorated.

Due to my injured leg, I didn't feel very comfortable when going up and downstairs, so Duke supported me gentlemanly. I glanced through the house, which was indeed wonderful. It was even like a dream for me to live in such a place.

When the inspection was almost done, Duke said, "This is just one of my villas. If you're not so into it, I can take you to check out other ones!"

I quickly said, "No, thank you. It's very nice here. I like it very much!"

Then I continued, "You planned to live in this house yourself, didn't you? You have even bought your bed as I can see. Why are you willing to sell it to us?"

A strange light flashed in Duke's eyes, and he said calmly, "Vincent and I are good friends, and he is in a hurry to get a house. That's why I gave up my love!"

His enthusiasm, however, made me feel a little embarrassed. My fear of him gradually disappeared through our interaction today. His constant gentlemanly behaviour made me feel less dismissive as well. I even felt that he was a little more approachable.

"You're a nice person, Mr. Murphy. It is our honour to know you!" I said modestly.

I didn't know why, but every time I praised Duke, he seemed very happy. This time I just gave a polite response, and he laughed happily. "You are nice and sweet too. Vincent always told me you were not good at talking, but I don't think you are that bad!"

I scratched my head sheepishly and smiled awkwardly. "I am flattered. I'm indeed not very social, or I will not let you see I was afraid of you!"

My words embarrassed both of us. Duke looked up at the sky and said. "It's almost noon. How about I treat you a meal?"

"No, it's okay. I still have something to do later!"

I did have something to do, as I want to pack my things at home when Vincent wasn't with me right now.

Since I had already decided to divorce Christopher, I should take my luggage away from his apartment as soon as possible.

Duke said flatly, "Well, then I'll treat you next time!"

After that, he ordered the driver next to him. "You send Jasmine back to the hotel first, and I'll leave later!"

There were a few maids cleaning in this villa right now, so it was no problem for Duke to stay here for the time being. But I didn't think it was appropriate, so I quickly said, "No, no, I'll get a taxi myself!"

Duke said very seriously, "This is the mansion area, which is hard to get a taxi. If you really feel sorry, I can go back with you. Otherwise, how could I explain this to Vincent?"

He had taken this a little seriously. But hearing his words, I could only say, "Okay, Thank you so much, then we go back together."

Making the driver send me alone was really a bit inappropriate, so I had to accept plan B.

Then I returned to the hotel by Duke's car. I had planned to taking a cab halfway to the Christopher's apartment to get my things, but now it seemed like I had no choice but to return to the hotel first.

Duke accompanied me all the way to the hotel room. As he was about to leave, I saw a woman standing at our door.

As the corridor was very long, I did not see clearly who was the woman. But after I got close, I found she was Naomi, my sister-in-law.

At that time, Duke was still by my side. When I saw her suddenly appear, my mind went blank. Why was she here? Who told her? Christopher? What was she doing here? Duke is still here. If we quarrel, how would he regard it??

Naomi must have pressed the doorbell for a long time, with no one answered her. She had a bad temper. Just as she was about to kick the door, she turned her head and saw me. Suddenly, she seemed to find her enemy and shouted at me with a twisted face, "Jasmine, where the f*ck have you been? You haven't opened the door for such a long time!"

I rolled my eyes and scolded her coldly, "Are you idiot? Of course no one will open the door for you if there's no one inside!"

I called her an idiot, whereupon Naomi, who was proud as a peacock, turned pale with rage. I thought she would diss me back with more vicious words, and I had even braced myself for a fight. But in the end she suddenly smiled obsequiously at me.

Her smile scared me to be more vigilant. As the old saying goes, the so-called fine gallantry, or rape or theft. Since she was so abnormal, there should be something bad!

"Oh, Isabella, are you still angry with my brother? In fact, my brother is regretting it now. He asked me to come and pick you up!"

As she spoke, Naomi purposefully walked over and hugged my arm, as if she was a good friend of mine.

Duke stood right next to me, so it wasn't a good time for me get mad at Naomi. After all, domestic shame should not be made public. I also very concerned about my own face, so I couldn't let an outsider like Duke know such embarrassing matter.

"Go inside if you have anything to say. Right now I have a guest!"

I glared at Naomi and said coldly.

Naomi smiled awkwardly. She probably knew that our matter shouldn't be talked in public, so she let go of my arm and retreated to the side.

I turned to Duke and apologised, "I'm sorry, Mr. Murphy. I have something to deal with, so I'm feared I couldn't let you in!"

Duke's eyes darkened, then he said, "I can see that as well, so I won't bother you any further. If you get into any trouble, call me if you can!"

I smiled politely at him and said perfunctorily, "Sure, I will!"
