Betty’s heart tugged painfully as shame and embarrassment clouded her chest.

“If you don’t remove Alice from this equation, you’ll never get your chance with Mr. Harper. You’ll end up being made a fool. So think carefully about what you want to do next!” Liana urged Betty on, using Sophia’s words to her advantage.

Finally, Betty nodded, her eyes determined.

Outside, the guests were still enthralled with the aria performance. Landon hadn’t been able to take his eyes away from Alyssa, who looked beautiful onstage.
