CEO Proposed to His Ex-wife 99 Times novel Chapter 264

Of course Katherine was aware of this.

Under normal circumstances, Marshall can just deny that he had any anything with Clara beyond friends.

Surly the Hendersons wouldn’t want to tarnish Clara’s reputation.

Then the both parties could issue a joint statement, saying that they were only together for work.

Then she would come forward and say that she trusted Marshall 100% and doused the public opinion.

But the thing was, it was a bit special at this moment. There were people who wanted to capitalize on the whole accident and were spreading the rumors that there was something more between Marshall and Clara beside the business relationship.

So their explanation probably wouldn’t be believed.

And the most important thing was that Mrs. Grant showed the divorce certificate to Clara.

So Katherine guessed that the reason Marshall brought about the getting back together thing was that he didn’t have a fruitful discussion with the Hendersons.

If the Hendersons agreed to cooperate, Marshall wouldn’t want to go this far.

Katherine laughed, “It’s okay. I really don’t mind this sort of things honestly.”

Marshall let out a breath and was obviously conflicted.

Katherine even grinned, “I’m actually wondering what did you say to the Hendersons?”

Sitting with legs crossed, Marshall tapped his fingers on the lap, “The Hendersons are worried about Clara’s image. This we can understand.”

Katherine nodded, “Well, got it.”

The Hendersons must know that if they chose to cooperate with Marshall by clearing his name, Clara’s image would still be somewhat damaged.

The fact was that a lot of by-standers didn’t really care what the truth was, they would only believe what they were exposed to and actually would enjoy some dramatic plot.

Katherine didn’t want to continue. Some things would still remain the same no matter how much they discussed.

Katherine stood up, “Marshall, I actually wanted the public to know our divorce, too. It got nothing to do with what happened. It was just that I really feel like we can’t pretend like this anymore. We need to confront it.”

Marshall remained silent.

Katherine stared at him for a while and then went upstairs.

After returning back to her room, Katherine locked herself in and lied on the bed.

Then she touched her chest. Well, she actually didn’t feel that bad.

Good for her.

Marshall went out again at night.

Katherine actually heard the car driving away, but she didn’t mind it and went to the study.

Her Driver’s License Test One was around the corner and she had to review it.

She got a lot on her plate right now.

Katherine stayed at the study until midnight and Marshall didn’t return. She picked up the phone and checked the time. Then she gave Kyle a call.

Kyle was in the Haverfords’ mansion and she can hear women’s voice.

Katherine firstly smiled, “Can you talk right now?”

Kyle was available when it came to Katherine.

He replied, “Yeah. I’m all free.”

Katherine paused for a while and continued, “You know, the photo that you intercepted earlier is actually true. I divorced with Marshall long ago. But it’s just that I had a pact with him because of something, so the thing became what it is today.”

Kyle was not a bit surprised and answered, “Yeah. I’ve guessed it.”

Katherine immediately giggled, “I knew it.”

So Kyle instead asked another question, “What are you going to do now?”

Katherine didn’t really know. She just wanted to wait and see how would Marshall announce the news to the public.

But quite frankly, there wasn’t a great solution to this.

The public opinion would somewhat be the same no matter what they ended up doing.

Katherine thought for a while and said, “Marshall should know how to deal with this. Well, I honestly feel like that this whole accident wouldn’t affect me that much.”

It would mainly have influence on Marshall and Clara.

Katherine got the victim card on her hand no matter what the whole drama turned into.

She would only be pitied by the public.

Kyle was still occupied, so they didn’t chat for too long.

Katherine then hung up the phone and hit the sack.

Marshall was out all night.

The Internet had blown up with her divorce with Marshall when she woke up the next day.

Katherine specifically turned off her phone to get a good sleep last night, so the phone buzzed with unread messages and missed calls when she powered on the phone.

Katherine was taken aback and clutched at the vibrating phone eyebrows furrowed.

Actually, they were all the calls and messages from her little group of friends.

Kyle even dialed her dozens of times.

Katherine got carried away and was picturing Kyle dialing her number again and again.

How stubborn yet cute.

After the phone finally went quiet, Katherine checked the messages first.

Kyle sent her the most and then Hector.

The gist of their messages was that the Internet gossiping was all heated now and she shouldn’t care about it. It wouldn’t have any actual impact on her. The public opinion was mostly on her side.

Katherine instantly knew that her divorce with Marshall must be all over the Internet.

After reading all the messages, she went to check the news on the Internet.

Just like what she had said, the Grants had released the divorce to the public and of course modified the date on the divorce paper.

It created quite a stir.

Katherine glanced at the figures down at the comment section and instantly quit the idea of reading them.

It would take forever for her to read through.

But all the articles were quite objective.

They merely explained that they were not right for each other and didn’t find each other compatible because of all the little details in life, so the pair thought that they would be making things difficult for each other if they continued to be together. It was the best decision for both to part ways now.

Actually, this explanation was totally acceptable since there was a huge gap between them regarding their backgrounds.

Katherine suddenly remembered a meal with Marshall.

She had already forgot what she had for that lunch, but she can still recall that uneasiness. She dared even not to drink the lemon juice before the meal because she was afraid that it might be used to wash one’s hands. That palpable anxiety and fear were still lingering till this day.

But Marshall was quite undisturbed since he had got used to everything that Katherine was feeling anxious for.

From that moment on, she knew that there was an unbridgeable gap between she and Marshall.

This gap was there right the second they were born.

They were in two different worlds.

She didn’t get the chance to experience the world, so she was feeling uneasy and belittled around Marshall.

Right when she packed all those leftovers at that farewell dinner, on the one hand, she was deliberately trying to embarrass Marshall, but on the other, she hated to see all those food being wasted.

This frugal mindset was in her blood and she couldn’t change it.

While for Marshall, he didn’t ever worry things that can be weighted by money. It was in his blood too.

Thinking of this, Katherine got upset.

She got out of the bed and had a shower. The Internet was bombarded with her news right now, so it would be better for her if she just stayed at home for now.

She then went downstairs and wanted to fix her a meal. But she then suddenly saw Marshall sitting on the sofa.

Katherine paused and suddenly remembered it was Monday. He should be working right now.

But it was way pass the working hours by now.

Marshall waited for a few seconds and looked up coldly.
