CEO Proposed to His Ex-wife 99 Times novel Chapter 283

Katherine had heard from Kyle that Clara had hired a bulk of online supporters to add fuel to the fire.

Seeing that the topic was shifted to that, Katherine then curled her lips up and remained silent.

Rosalie smiled, "It is actually understandable, since Clara and Marshall had already gotten engaged before you suddenly appeared and took Marshall away. You know, Clara is clearly not resigned to that."

The grievance for something unobtainable was one of the most terrible human natures, which, sometimes, would even drive people crazy for something they didn't actually want, and, at last, bring them with nothing but waste of their effort and the suffering of others.

Rosalie then continued, "Therefore, that is why I say that they are not the right one for us. I don't like to associate and do business with these kinds of people."

Katherine nodded, "Now, I see."

On the other hand, Mr. Haverford was chatting with Hector about his family.

Implicitly, he just told Mr. Haverford that everything was seemingly fine: he still needed time to get familiar with his work, and the members of Bennett Family were leading quite a peaceful and normal life with each other.

Looking at Hector for a while, Rosalie whispered to Katherine, "I think if Hector is really going to find another career, attending the talent show and becoming a singing star will be an advisable option for him. He won't last long staying in the company of his family."

Katherine answered, "Indeed. It's really hard for him."

Katherine thought that Hector was leading a tough life filled with adversities and dilemmas, which was even more complicated and bitter than that of her.

Not until it was dark were Katherine and Hector be going to leave.

Kyle wanted to go with them, while Rosalie caught his collar and stopped him, "It's been a long time since the last time you stayed here and accompanied dad. Don't you try to run away this time."

Gritting his teeth like a child, Kyle failed to say anything to refute his older sister.

Rosalie ordered her driver to send Katherine and Hector home.

In the car, Hector told the driver to drive to her home first.

Without refusing it, she was still delightedly talking about the hospitality and amicability of Haverford Family's people.

After a while, they arrived at Katherine's home.

As Katherine got out of the car, Hector followed as well.

Dumbfounded, Katherine asked, "What's wrong?"

Hector smiled, "Nothing. I shall watch you go inside."

Katherine laughed, "I'm fine! Are you worried if there is anyone breaking into my house or what?"

Stepping into the front yard, she then unlocked the front door with her fingerprint, and turned to Hector, "Don't worry about me. I'm doing fine! Just go."

Hesitate for awhile, Hector turned back into the car.

Katherine changed her shoes at the doorway, and as she walked to the staircase, her phone rang — Hector was calling in.

She turned around and looked outside of the window, seeing that Hector got out of the car at full speed and rushed into the yard.

Confusedly, Katherine walked to the door and opened it, "What…"

Hector put down the phone immediately, and put one finger on his lips to hint at keeping quiet.

He then whispered, "Get in the car and wait for me."

The driver also got out of the car and stood aside.

Katherine, in confusion, asked Hector, "What happened?"

Hector pointed upwards and said in a low voice, "Someone is up there."

Katherine was stunned and continued, "What? Where? Is that he is in my house?"

Hector answered quietly, "The one is on the second floor. Just go out for a while."

Katherine was frightened to hear that someone had secretly broken into her house. She then nodded, left the living room and quietly gave the driver tips to come in and help Hector, since she had no idea about what was waiting for Hector and her in the house.

The driver soon came in as well. Without getting into the car, she searched around the whole yard and grabbed a stick from the corner.

The stick was previously the handling of a mop, which was broken in a house cleaning.

Waving the stick, Katherine thought that it was a good enough weapon to defend herself, and then went back to the living room with the stick in her hands.

Both Hector and the driver were slowly waking up the stairs.

At this moment, Katherine offered a dry cough to hint at that she should be the first one to go upstairs, since definitely the man had long been waiting for her up there since the moment when she opened the door.

Regardless of what Hector tried to say, she pretended to say to herself, "Damn, I'm tired! What a busy day."

Saying so, she stepped up the stairs fearlessly with the mop handle in her hands.

Hector then slowed down his pace and followed.

Katherine walked to her room, and stopped in front of the door

She seldom closed the door and the windows of her room when she went out, since she was living alone, and wanted to keep her room ventilated.

And now, the door was closed, which was exceptionally unusual.

With the stick clenched in her hands, she opened the door, and found that everything inside was quite neat and normal.

Stepping inside, she pretended to murmur, "I'm so bored. Maybe I should try to find something to do."

Saying so, she then walked to the bathroom. The door of the bathroom was opened, and there was no one inside.

In confusion, Katherine was wondering where the one was exactly hiding.

Then, she turned around, and saw that Hector was standing vigilantly beside the closet.

Nodding, Katherine soon figured out what Hector meant.

She held the stick in her hands, stood by the other side of the closet and opened it at lightning speed.

It was quite a big closet, inside of which were all the clothes of Katherine.

Inside of the closet, the space was large enough to hold a man, since she had previously cleared away the clothes that she didn't like.

As the closet was opened, the man hiding inside, who seemingly knew that he had been detected by Katherine, soon jumped out of it fiercely.

Sadly, he jumped on nothing but the air, and as he tried to keep his feet, he was again kicked down by Hector.

Lying on the ground, the man was stunned to see there were also others in the house.

Suddenly, Katherine shouted, "Take this, fucker!"

Violently, she then hit the man with the stick in her hands.

Possibly, thanks to the her previous experience fighting Mrs. Grant, she was now hitting the man with skills and preciseness. Hector stood aside, looked at this and found that there was nothing he can do.

As Katherine was kicking and hitting the man with the stick, the man struggled to reach out his hand, trying to disarm Katherine.

However, Katherine was waving the stick so hard and so fast that the man could hardly touch it.

Hector, who was originally worried about Katherine's safety, was now standing aside and watching with a relaxed expression on his face.

For the driver, he was watching all this with astonishment in his eyes.

After a while, with his hands covering his head, the man seemed to be in pain and tried to dodge Katherine's attack.

Though the stick was by no means a lethal weapon, it would still hurt if someone used it to hit others with strength.

Unwittingly, Katherine seemed to regard this man as Mrs. Grant, a hateful old woman who she could never hit like that.

What's more, as a woman who had been living high on hogs for years, Mrs. Grant would definitely take the most spiteful and wicked revenge on her if she really did so.

This time, by hitting the intruder with all her strength, Katherine had successfully vented all her accumulated spleen for Mrs. Grant.

At last, Hector took her arms, stopped her and said helplessly, "Just stop it. You're almost killing him."

Katherine tidied her hair and stood with her hands on her hips, "I was born in a farmer family, you know. And that's why I'm as strong as such. To be honest, in my hometown, if there is any theft daring to intrude into one's house, he will be knocked even harder."

Looking at the man curling up on the ground, Hector was amused.

It seemed that Katherine was really good at fighting. Though the man had tried several times to run away, he was always knocked back by Katherine with her stick.

Katherine stared at the man tremblingly curling up on the ground and said with disdain, "Not any middle-aged woman would ever dare to fight me in my hometown."

As a girl brought up by her grandpa, she had suffered a lot of grievances from the others in the village.

Her grandpa was a good-tempered and tolerant old man, and thus would always pass over what others had done to him.

However, Katherine was the sort of woman who will never resign herself to the people who tried to bully her.

Taking a deep breath, Katherine kicked the man lying on the ground and asked, "Now, let's talk about why the hell you are in my house."
