CEO Proposed to His Ex-wife 99 Times novel Chapter 285

At first, Marshall was anxiously worried about the condition of Katherine, but now, seeing Katherine casually sitting in her room safe and sound, he was filled with a sense of loss.

He then asked, "So, why did you call me here?"

Seeing that Marshall was here, Katherine smiled, "Finally, you are here."

Following closely behind Marshall, Kyle rushed into the room either, "Kathy! Where are you, Kathy?"

As he saw the scene, he was frozen on the ground, "Wait… Wow, so many people are around here."

Katherine frowned, "Hey, why are you here?"

Kyle could tell from the scene he saw that nothing had really happened. He then sighed, "I heard that something went wrong here, and so I came and check."

He was by no doubt told by the driver, and it was likely that something was missing when the driver described the situation.

However, currently, why Kyle was here was not the point.

Katherine turned to Husky and beckoned him to come and explain everything to Marshall, "Come, Husky! Come and tell Mr. Grant everything that you have told me!"

Kyle frowned with confusion, "Wait, is that his name?"

Katherine then offered a sharp look to Kyle and said firmly, "Be quiet!"

Husky looked at Katherine, and then turned to Marshall, "I'm sorry. I shouldn't have been blinded by money, shouldn't have violated the inner kindness of mine, and shouldn't have done something as despicable as that…"

In annoyance, Katherine pretended to grab the stick and threatened, "Get to the point!"

Husky was frightened, and continued in panic, "Yes, the point! The point is that I was hired by someone to come and beat Miss. Jordan, and I failed, and was beaten by her in contrast!"

Hearing that, Kyle burst into anger, stood up and roared, "What did you say? Who the hell are you going to beat?"

Husky was even more scared hearing Kyle's shouting. He then shrank his neck out of fear and lowered his voice, "I'm sorry! And I'm now reflecting on myself for that! What's more, she has beaten me up before I could do anything! Just look at the part of my body here and there…"

He lifted his clothes and showed Kyle the bruises that Katherine had caused to him.

Marshall, sitting aside, understood everything now: the reason why Katherine called him around was because the one behind all this had something to do with him.

Giving the clues that this one not only planned to play underhanded tricks on Katherine, but also had something to do with him, Marshall soon found himself the answer of who the one was.

As he thought over all this in his head, the expression on Marshall's face became increasingly cold and serious.

Then, Marshall took out his phone, showed Husky the picture of his mother and said, "Is she the one who told you to do that?"

Husky took a glance at the photo, and nodded, "Yes, that she is! She had generously paid me a good amount of advance, and thus I became dizzy with greed! Just please let me go. It's my fault, I promise I won't do that again, and…"

"OK, that's enough. Now shut up."Katherine was nearly out of patience, "You can go now."

However, Kyle glared at him and said, "Don't you ever try to run away so easily! You have committed a burglary, and I must report you to the police!"

With his face twisted and turned pale, Husky looked at Katherine, "You said you would let me go if I did what you told!"

At the next moment, Katherine was lost in thought: she could tell that this young man was merely a unsophisticated brat of simplicity with one-track mind, who had caused no loss to her and was beaten by her in contrast; what's more, if she really took this young man to the police, it would definitely get Mrs. Grant involved, and thus again add fuel to the affair between her and Marshall.

It brought no good to her and would only make everything even more complicated.

'Well, maybe I'd better just let him go.' Katherine thought to herself.

She then waved her hands and said, "It's fine, just go. I'm the one who is in charge of this house."

As if he was granted an official pardon, Husky turned around immediately and ran away.

As Kyle was about to stop the young man, he turned to Katherine, and then remained silent.

Katherine crawled out of the bed and said, "Dear Mr. Grant, I think you now understand why I call you around."

Marshall looked quite severe. Staring at Katherine for a while, he said, "Have you gotten hurt?"

It seemed Marshall's words were mistaken by Katherine. She then gave him a sharp look and said, "I'm fine, but these are two totally different things."

Marshall closed his eyes, and explained, "I'm not talking about this."

Hector stood up and said, "She is lucky, because I was by her side at the moment. Otherwise, no one would know what was going to happen to her."

Katherine nodded and continued, "Indeed! Hector was the one who noticed that someone was up there waiting for me. If, by any chance, I came back alone, I would have been beaten up by that guy!"

Pulling a long face, she then continued, "More than once has your mom planned to harm me since that time. Yes, I did have fought her and beaten her down, but the one who always starts everything is her, not me! And it doesn't mean that she can just do something as malicious as such to me!"

Marshall took a sigh, and said, "Calm down. I will handle this, and give you a well explanation afterwards. I'm serious."

Katherine looked at Marshall. Actually, she needed no explanation from Marshall, since all she wanted was merely to show him what his mom was trying to do to her.

Honestly, Marshall's mom was really a stubborn viperous old woman who would never learn from the past.

Kyle licked his lips and came over, "Is that really your mom who did this, Marshall? But it doesn't make any sense, since Katherine has nothing to do with your affair."

Kyle knew nothing about the things between Katherine and Mrs. Grant, and thus he could hardly make any precise judgement.

Feeling less to give any explanation, Katherine then turned to Marshall, "It was not the first time she did something like that, nor would it be the last time. Listen, Marshall: I could not be always as lucky as I did today, nor could I just be that patient and tolerant forever.

Katherine sighed, "I hope it will be both the first time and the last. If something like that ever happens to me again, I will do anything to fight back no matter what."

Marshall raised his hand and was about to stroke Katherine's hair, but he still put down his hand at last and said, "There is no next time, I promise."

Katherine laughed, "Fine, I trust you this time."

Afterwards, Marshall left Katherine's house, and phoned Khalid.

Khalid was still in the company. As he was about to work some extra hours to get the rest of his things done, he received a phone call from Marshall, who did not sound so happy for the moment.

He thought that Marshall was again frustrated by the rumors spread online, and asked in haste, "What happened?"

Marshall answered, "Just go back home, and we will talk about it there."

Before Khalid could even give any response, Marshall hung off the phone directly.

Khalid knew Marshall very well, and thus he could tell that something had happened. He then packed up his things and drove back home.

When he arrived, he found that Marshall was sitting on the sofa in the living room, together with Old Mrs. Grant.

Khalid then went up and asked, "Hey, what's going on?"

Without looking at Khalid, Marshall answered, "Yes, something happened — a thing that is neither too serious nor too trivial."

Khalid then turned to Old Mrs. Grant, who seemed dumb and confused.

Since Marshall was back, he had been sitting by the side of Old Mrs. Grant and remaining silent, regardless of how hard Old Mrs. Grant tried to ask him what had happened.

Old Mrs. Grant frowned, "Tell us what's going on, Marshall. No matter what happens, we can talk about it and fix it together."

Then, Marshall sank down on the sofa and took a sigh, "It's about my mom."
