CEO Proposed to His Ex-wife 99 Times novel Chapter 292

The message from Marshall came just as Khalid and Mrs. Grant were coming over.

So she didn't read it.

Now that everything was over, she tapped the message open.

Marshall didn’t say anything important, only said to come over to her later and there were some things to discuss with her specifically.

Katherine didn’t think there’s anything he and she needed to discuss. It seemed that they had said pretty much everything they need to say.

She deleted the message and then looked at Kyle, “You eat quickly and go home when you're done. I’m gonna take a nap.”

Kyle took his tableware and said, “Alright, I see.”

He was not stupid and knew that Marshall must have said something in the message, so Katherine found an excuse to send him away.

However, Kyle was not very interested in what Marshall and Katherine were going to talk about next.

He cleaned up a little after the meal, and told Katherine to close the doors and windows before he left.

Katherine was a little impatient and responded with a nasal sing-song voice.

Only then did Kyle swagger away.

Waiting for Kyle to leave, Katherine hurriedly took her phone over and sent a message to Hector.

It’s nothing important, she just wanted to ask about old Mrs. Haverford.

She went out and plopped down on the sofa with the TV on, her two legs crossed up and wiggled. She was sending messages to Hector while watching TV.

Hector quickly replied to the message. In fact, he didn't know much about the Haverford family's affairs.

He said that Mrs. Haverford passed away in a car accident when Kyle was less than two years old.

So technically, Kyle had no memory of his mother.

Katherine cupped her phone and took a long time before replying to Hector with an “OK”.

Kyle said she and his mother looked alike, but she really did not feel that way.

She put the phone down and wondered, was it because of this that Kyle was extra nice to her?

Kyle always looked bright and shiny, it turned out that he also had such a big regret in his life.

Katherine sighed.

When Marshall came over, the living room door was closed. He went over and tried his fingerprints, naturally failed.

This woman always missed this and that, but remembered to delete his fingerprints clearly every time.

Katherine heard the sound and went over to open the door, “What's the matter, what do you have to tell me?”

Marshall first looked around the house, and then spoke, “Did my dad and my mom just stop by?”

“Yes.” Katherine turned around and went to sit on the sofa, “Your mother said she was coming over to apologize to me, but it didn’t look like that way. I thought she was here to teach me a lesson personally because that man she hired failed the mission.”

Marshall didn’t know what to say. His mother was very stubborn, even if she said she was wrong, she would never admit it in her heart.

He was silent for a while, went to sit in front of Katherine, “I promised you before, you help me to muddle through stuff in WF Group, I’ll give you whatever you want, as long as I can get it. I keep my word, you can say it now.”

Katherine raised her eyes to look at Marshall, but did not immediately speak.

So he came over for this.

Marshall thought she did not get him, so he repeated, “Anything you want, money? Or a fixed asset?”

Katherine smiled with her head low, fondling the pillow next to her somewhat unconsciously, “There’s no need. I did try to blackmail you back then, but I thought about it later, the money you gave me when we divorced was enough for the rest of my life. I can’t use up the money if I ask for too much, and then it will be just a number to me. So, I don’t want money.”

She slowly looked up at Marshall, “So I’ll change a request. Marshall, what I want, is that I don’t want to have any involvement with you in the future. How’s that? I do think it's good, it's good for both of us.”

When Marshall froze, his brow furrowed and he stared into Katherine's eyes.

Katherine was still smiling, “I found that even if I divorced you, we still have been tangled up. Naturally, I do not think it is all your responsibility, most in me. Because I used to have so some illusion, think maybe I put a little effort, to make you…”

Katherine raised her hand and used his index finger and thumb to draw out a small distance, “…like me a little. But then I realized that I don't seem to need you to like me a little. I feel like I'm better off without you.”

Marshall's expression had become completely serious.

But Katherine was laughing a bit happier, “Really, Marshall. I think you do too. Without me, your work and family would probably be better. You’ll marry a woman who can help you, Clara, for example. And then, you’ll gain a prosperous career and a happy family. Look how fantastic is that! You are properly a winner in life. It is me, I am the one who stopped you from getting that, and I am a stumbling block on your way to success.”

The more she said, the more Marshall was getting tired of listening, “How do you know what I need?”

Katherine stopped for a moment, “Right, I did self-talking again, didn’t I? I am not qualified to say anything about you, it is up to you.”

She laughed, but it was quite awkward.

Marshall closed his eyes and exhaled a breath out, “Although a bit absurd, Katherine, I thought you used to like me.”

Katherine continued to smile awkwardly, “It is indeed absurd. I don’t like you, I don't like anyone anymore.”

Katherine didn’t know for herself if she’s trying to convince Marshall or herself by saying that.

Marshall stared at Katherine for a long time before speaking, sounded a bit helpless, “In fact, I came over to ask you what you want, but I seem to have nothing to give you except money, or I'd better give you money.”

Katherine shook her head, “You really don't have to. You have given me more than enough, which already made your mother unpleasant. If you give me more, the two of us may not be clear forever.”

Marshall grinned and repeated Katherine's words “Not be clear forever.”

He stood up, “Before I came, I felt I had a lot to say to you, but now that I think about it, those words don't seem very important. You just get some rest, I’ll leave to it.”

Katherine nodded, “Alright, bye.”

This time he was quite efficient and sat down for less than 10 minutes.

Marshall went to push the door, looked down at the fingerprint area of the lock, paused for a moment, and left anyway.

Katherine didn't even wait for Marshall to go out from the courtyard and hurried over to close the door.

She leaned against the door panel, gasping for air, wondering what he meant by that last glance back at her when he left.

It was as if he had decided something, and as if he was up to something.

This bastard was full of bad ideas. He's not going to try to use his business tricks on her, was he?

Katherine waited for Marshall's car to drive away before she moved down to the window.

She hugged her shoulders and looked out, always feeling as if things were not so simple.

She went to her shop again in the evening. It’s getting dark, and the paparazzo should also have dispersed.

The doors of the shop were closed. Katherine went over to open the door and went inside to have a look.

This place was indeed all decorated, with just some details left behind.

Katherine went out again and looked up at the location of the plaque.

She had actually thought of a name for the shop, and it was called: No Echo.

How sad that was!

Katherine laughed out loud at the thought.

After wandering around outside, Katherine headed home and went to take a shower. She saw a comment on her social media after she came out.

She posted pictures of the storefront not long ago, and Peter was always the most supportive one inside her circle of friends.

But this time, the comments he left had nothing to do with what she posted online.

He said, “You're kind of awesome.”
