CEO Proposed to His Ex-wife 99 Times novel Chapter 296

Katherine rushed to lock the door.

She leaned against the door.

Marshall looked angry when he got off the car just now.

Katherine didn’t know what he was angry about, but she decided to keep him outside the door first.

Marshall was knocking at the door.

“Katherine, open the door. I know you’re here.” Said he.

She didn’t.

But she knew she couldn’t be avoiding him for a long time.

“What’re you doing here? I have told you that I don’t owe you any money and I don’t want to have any relationship with you. Just go.” Said she.

“Let’s have a talk face to face. Open the door, please.” Said he.

At the thought of what Marshall looked like last time when he lost his temper on the second floor, she didn’t dare to open the door.

He held her chin so hard that it hurt a lot. It had been several days before the pain faded away.

She’s afraid of him doing that again.

So, she refused again. “This is my house. I won’t let you go. Just leave now.”

“You’ve changed a lot.” Marshall’s voice was getting cold.

She insisted, “Just go, or we will become tomorrow’s headline again.”

“I’m afraid being discussed. I dare not go out because of you. Just think of my position.” She continued.

He put down his hand when he heard what she said.

After a moment, she heard the sound of the engine.

She moved slightly to the window, looking outside.

She found he had got in the car and was ready to leave.

She heaved a sigh of relief, wondering what’s the matter with him just now.

She locked the door for the whole afternoon.

She also closed the windows, which had been often open.

She was afraid of Marshall coming again.

If he came again, he might climb in from the windows even though the door was locked.

But it turned out that she was thinking too much.

Marshall didn’t come in the afternoon, nor did he come in the next few days.

Nobody disturbed her.

No more news reported about her.

She got a period of peaceful and quiet time.

But she was uncomfortable about it somehow.

They had given each other the silent treatment before.

But this time was more than that.

She had a hunch that they would lose connect from now on.

She thought it might be good for both of them.

She would cut off the contacts with him sooner or later, so they’d better not to see each other anymore.

However, Kyle has asked her for several times that if she’s willing to be his date to attend a birthday party with him

She wanted to refuse him.

It was improper for her to attend a public party.

Kyle was invited, which t indicated that the party was very important and the guests invited would be dignified.

She might not know them, but they might know her.

It would be embarrassed if she went there as Kyle’s date but was recognized as Marshall’s ex-wife.

Kyle didn’t consider so much. He confessed that he wouldn’t go if it weren’t for his father, who insisted he should broad his horizon, so he wanted to take her with him.

She would be persuaded if she heard it for the first time.

But this time it didn’t work.

She nodded. “Your father is right. You do need to see more of the world instead of playing around. Just go.”

Realizing it didn’t work, Kyle began to act like a spoiled child. “Come on, just go with me. I’ll be bored without you.”

It disgusted her to picture the way he said it with a gold necklace.

When she was about to talk, he came back to be normal. “I know what you’re worried about, but I don’t think you should care about what people think of you so much. Like me, I could go anywhere I want to go and do whatever I wanna do even though I know they don’t like me.”

She paused a second and he continued.

“It’s not your fault to divorce Marshall, so what are you afraid of? Why don’ just be confident and fearless?”

She burst into laughter.

She knew it made sense.

Seeing her being silent, he decided by himself. “OK, that’s settled. I’ll prepare a gown for you and then you just go with me then.”

Then he hung up.

She didn’t shy away in big party.

She was just afraid of being seen and talked.

But in fact, there’s nothing to fear about.

Therefore, she’s come round to it.

She hasn’t contacted Hector for several days, so she wondered how he was.

After dinner, she gave him a call.

Surprisingly, he was in a business dinner.

She couldn’t imagine how he would be like in a business dinner since he has always been gentle and urbane.

He sounded drunk and asked if she was going to sleep in a loud voice.

“No.” She answered.

Waiting for a second, he said, “Wait a moment for me. I’ll go for you later. I have something to talk with you.”

“Why don’t say it now?” she answered.

They could talk about anything anytime.

“I wanna say it face in face.” He laughed.

“OK, I’ll wait. Don’t drink too much.” She smiled.

She hung up the phone and began to washed up, and tidy the room.

Hector called her half an hour later.

He said he was taking a taxi on the way to her home.

“Are you drunk?” she said.

“No, I’m not a heavy drinker, so I will control myself.” He laughed.

“I’m waiting for you in the living room.” She was relieved.

He hung up. She turned on the TV.

The door was open so that she could see him on time.

It’s late now. She had changed into her pajamas.

Her hair was half-dried. She sat on the sofa with arms crossing her legs.

When Marshall saw her in the dark, he wrinkled his brows.

“Sir, we’ve been waiting for half an hour. Do you want to drop off now?” The driver couldn’t help asking Marshall.
