CEO Proposed to His Ex-wife 99 Times novel Chapter 298

“It’s your payment. Do you forget what I’ve said?” He looked serious.

She looked at the phone and nodded later, and ended the topic. “Fine, then we are quit.”

They shall be all square from now on.

He gave her a perplexing smile.

Hector couldn’t join in their conversation.

So, he stood up. “OK. I have to go. It’s late.”

Then he glanced at Marshall.

Marshall understood what he meant.

But he somehow chose to ignore him and said, “See you.”

“You go, too. It’s late.” Katherine burst into laughter and had to drive him away.

“I’ll go after drinking the tea.” He lowered his head to see the tea.

Hector turned his gaze and said to Katherine, “Then see you.”

He believed that Marshall wouldn’t bother Katherine for long.

Katherine was not a pushover after all.

She saw Hector off. They stood at the entrance of the yard. Hector told her to have a good rest and lock the windows.

Marshall was sitting on the sofa. He took Katherine’s phone.

She didn’t lock the screen.

“If you need my help, just tell me. It’ll be fine.” She said thanks to his care and added.

“Nothing. Let’s talk next time. Good bye.” He smiled.

She nodded. “Take care.”

She turned back until she couldn’t see him.

Her smile disappeared.

She noticed Marshall was not in the living room when she walked to the door.

“How could he disappear so soon?” She cursed him secretly.

She entered the house and called his name.

There’s no answer.

She looked up, only to find the light at upstairs was on.

She hurried to go upstairs.

As expected, Marshall was in her room.

He was looking around by the bed.

She entered her bedroom and said with an disgruntle tone. “What are you doing here?”

He turned around without a word.

He was here to see if there was any hint of other men.

But apparently, the answer was no.

Though he believed that she wouldn’t be seeing another man, he had to come over to have a check because there’s a Hector who apparently had a crush on her.

He walked towards her.

She stepped back and said, “What’re you gonna do?”

He walked to close her, so close that his face would touch hers if he bent over.

She stepped back. “What do you want? Don’t close to me.”

“Why do you blush?” He smiled.

She retorted, “Because I’m angry with you.”

“It’s late night. Aren’t you afraid of letting Hector in?”

“I also let you in.” She snorted.

“How could he compare with me?” He sneered.

“You’re right,” she continued, “You’re my ex-husband, but he might be my next man.”

She choked his words. He resigned to nod. “Don’t talk back to me like that.”

She kept retorting him.

“Can’t I retort since you’re wrong?” she said coldly.

He had never known she had a sharp tongue. As a slick talker in business, he was defeated.

When he raised his hand, she hurried to step back, covering her chin and neck.

He paused.

“What do you wanna do again?” She looked defensive.

He stared at her, heaved a sigh after a second, and put his hand back. “Nothing. I’m off to go.”

Then he walked towards outside.

She followed him and locked the doors after he left.

With brows furrowed, she stood in the living room, thinking what’s wrong with him today.

He was surprisingly nice today.

He was not like the one who he used to be.

He used to frown and pull a long face.

But today, he smiled to her.

He acted as if he were drunk.

She turned off the lights and went upstairs.

When Marshall came back, the driver was sleeping in the car.

He didn’t wake him up. He sat in the back seat and looked at Katherine’s windows.

The ground floor was dark, but the light in her bedroom was on.

She drew the curtain after a while.

He heaved a sigh and picked a cigarette from the pocket, and lit it.

He was glad that he had stopped Hector’s confession.

He was so pleased that what Katherine said couldn’t make him angry.

For some reasons, he had been irritable and edgy in the past few days.

But now, all of these negative emotions faded away.

He put the half-lightened cigarette out and took his phone.

He sent a friend request to Katherine on Facebook and she agreed.

She didn’t know it was him because he changed his screen name and profile picture.

He smiled.

She was defensive to him. If she knew it was him, she would block him again.

He patted the seatback to wake the driver up.

The driver woke up immediately. “Sir, you’re back,”

“Let’s go home.”

Katherine was checking the balance.

She was in a dilemma.

If Mrs. Grant knew Marshall gave her so much money, she would lose temper again.

What a mean old woman!

She then clicked her Facebook.

Kyle sent her some pictures of some different gowns.

All of them were not her style.

She told him she would choose one by herself tomorrow.

When she was about to ask Kyle if Marshall would attend the party, he gave her a voice call.

“Marshall would attend the party, too. I think it’s a good opportunity for both of you to win a good reputation as long as you greet politely to each other.” He said as soon as she picked it up.

“You’re so thoughtful.” She smiled.

She checked her friend list while talking with Kyle.

She had a few friends.

But there was a new friend.

She couldn’t remember who it was and when she added him.

She clicked his profile picture and screen name, which were new to her.

She has never unfriended any friends on the list.

So, some people from Grant family were still on the list.

She frowned.

“Don’t worry. Just pretend nothing has happened. I do think it’s a good opportunity.” Kyle continued.

“Well, yeah, I think so.” She temporized.

She browsed his moments.
