Contract Marriage: My Sweet Bossy Wife novel Chapter 39

A banquet like that always got stuffed with fawning people. Soon, Juliette indulged herself in ingratiation.

“Hey, you are late. I thought you wouldn’t have the gut to show up. I am really looking forward to your blessing. After all, we are family, right?” seeing Jessica appeared alone, Juliette walked over to her with a complacent smile.

“See? That’s the manner of an educated lady. Remain a smiling face even suffering great grievance at the same time.”

“Yeah, Jessica has once been engaged to Mr. Saunders. Perhaps that’s what her attendance for.”

“I heard she married Lorenzo, that violent disabled lunatic. She must be living a miserable life. Now she definitely regrets losing the heart of Mr. Saunders. Perhaps she is still preying for a chance to cut in.”

“But the engagement between him and Juliette has been notarized by their families. Even if she wanna cut in, it ain’t gotta work.” The gossips started to spread among the crowd wildly.

“Jessica is my sister. My lifelong happiness must be what she has been hoping for. I know she must be suffering for marrying a man like that.” While speaking, Juliette shook her head, looking sorry for Jessica.

Seeing that, Jessica almost burst into wry laughter. Now Juliette was about to be part of the Saunders and known as the wife of Preston, with the help of which every nasty story about her would be obliterated.

The icing on the cake would be the preference of all. All the guests present was now hungry for an opportunity to build a relationship with the Saunders.

Of course, Juliette asked her to attend the banquet just because she wanna embarrass her in public and also inflict some blows on her at the same time.

“Oh, here comes Jessica. Welcome! Juliette has been expecting you for hours. I feel really sorry for hearing your sad story back then. Alright, since you have attended our banquet where you have this rare chance to meet some many guys from the upper class, just stay with Juliette and see if you can broaden your horizon and try to build some relationship with the superior.” Aminah swaggered over coquettishly from the stand while wriggling her tiny waist to show off. The banquet for the rehearsal for the wedding and also the bachelor party for both Juliette and Preston was coming tonight, while the venue of which would be filled with honorable guests. As a lady about to be titled as the mother-in-law of Preston, she deemed herself proud enough to lift up her horn.

Because of the flop both she and Juliette suffered last time, she swore to God that she had to teach Jessica a lesson tonight.

“Aminah, you are too kind-hearted. An indecent girl like her should be expelled from an occasion like that. She never deserves to be the sister of Juliette.”

“You’re right. Juliette even greeted her decently when she walked over to her. What a good girl! She will definitely be a nice wife for Preston.”

“Yeah, the marriage will be a strong alliance between the Armstrong and the Saunders. I really wish my son could marry a girl as excellent as Juliette.”

As the Armstrong seized the chance to access to a higher status, those ladies among the upper class hurried over with a fawning manner.

Meanwhile, all of them badly despised Jessica, viewing her a jinx.

But Jessica had foreseen such situation beforehand. So she remained a casual expression.

“Preston, come over here! Jessica has arrived!” seeing Preston walking over from distance, Juliette hurried forward in a bashful look.

As the focus of the banquet tonight, Preston was wearing a pure white suit with his hair neatly teased. He looked exactly like a prince charming in a fairy tale.

“I heard you have married. But where is your husband? Is he gonna let you hang out for the banquet alone?” Preston smiled at Jessica to ask in a seemingly concerned tone, but the actual intention of which was to mock her for her foolish stubbornness about the marriage.

“Preston…” Jessica replied with an affectionate stare at him, hesitant to say more.

“I am so sorry. It’s all my fault. I thought Lorenzo was the one I wanted. But it never occurred to me that he actually got himself indulged among other girls! Our engagement used to be granted by our families since we were kids! I still miss you! I am sorry for what I’ve done to you! But I didn’t mean it!”

“I know you don’t love Juliette, right? I know you still miss me just like I do. If not, you wouldn’t have come to me in such a hurry that night. Just drop the wedding, will you?” Jessica stared at him with tearful eyes, begging with the greatest sincerity she had ever got.

She actually made a confession of love to Preston in front of those guests? Was she gonna cut in the relationship between Juliette and him?

Everyone present hurried to fix their eyes on Jessica and Preston, feeling stunned.

“Jessica, what are you doing? He’s my fiancé! How could you tryna take him away from me?”

What Jessica was doing had gone far beyond Juliette expectation. She still remembered how greatly aloof Jessica always appeared. She didn’t even seem to care about anything or anyone.

“What…what did you just say?” Preston froze on spot. Not until quite a while later did he collect himself. He hurried to break away from Juliette’s grip and rushed over to Jessica. His eyes were filled with excitement. He grabbed her arms with trembling hands while his eyes were glittering in hope.

“You’re mine!” when seeing that, Juliette was rendered panic. Bad feelings suddenly surged up in her mind.

Every guest here was sophisticated enough to tell that Preston would definitely turn his back on Juliette and make up his mind to marry Jessica as long as she nodded. If so, the banquet tonight would totally be a joke.

But suddenly, Jessica burst into laughter, which stunned the rest of the world once again.

They couldn’t help wondering if Jessica was going insane.

“Juliette…what’s that reaction for? Come on, your wedding day is coming. Just be happy! I was just making a funny joke. Don’t be so serious.” Jessica kept laughing wholeheartedly.

She was just joking?

What an awful prank!

“Come on, I hate those I have deserted. I am not that stupid to hunt the trash I once abandoned. But well, sis, since you are so hungry for him, just help yourself.” Jessica smiled to continue.

“Jessica, what are you doing!” Juliette was so mad that she kept shivering. A pang of dizziness struck her head again and again.

“Come on, everybody, time to take your seat. We’re ready.” Kevin pretended to know nothing about it and beckoned the guests over for their seats.

“Oh, sorry, I was so focused on the joke. Come on in, time for something serious!”

Some of them started to shift the topic to give him an out. The embarrassing atmosphere soon dissipated.

“I don’t care what you’ve done before. But this is the exception! Juliette has to be the wife of Preston! If you try to mess up once again, you’d better get prepared for the price!” as the guests had walked a distance, Kevin turned to glare at Jessica seriously.

“I believe you are wise enough tell the current situation. Now I am part of the Fletcher family. If you wanna get me to somewhere else deserted as punishment once again, I am afraid you will need a plan to deal with them.” Jessica replied casually.

“You little bastard!” he was so pissed that he almost got struck by heart attack.

Juliette clenched her teeth, overwhelmed with the anger that she felt like tearing Jessica apart. Aminah nudged her secretly to tell her to chill.

No matter how aggressive Jessica appeared, Juliette had to swallow it. The best choice for her was to wait till she officially married Preston. Only by then could she be powerful enough to retaliate against Jessica.
