Contract Marriage: My Sweet Bossy Wife novel Chapter 147

But still, Jessica couldn’t figure out why Lorenzo appeared so mad because of such a trifle.

After a short silence, Alina realized what happened.

After all, as the daughter of Erica, Jessica was born to be unusual.

No wonder she always caught the eyes of other men.

“Jessica, you have been surprising us. I really wonder if there is still anything impressive about you that we haven’t noticed.” Alina smiled at her.

“Actually, I don’t think it’s something worth bragging about. Besides, Aunt Valentina and I haven’t been so familiar with each other. And I have been just a common girl.” Said Jessica bashfully.

As sophisticated as Alina had been, she could tell that Jessica said so to reveal her humble personality, which was rare to see among girls at her age.

Besides, she also noticed that Jessica still remained conservative while retelling what was happening. Obviously, there must be something more stunning that she hadn’t uncovered.

Or perhaps Jessica never deemed it something impressive as she had been used to being low-profile. But in the eyes of others, it must be something incredible.

At the thought of that, Alina was even more gratified by the choice she made. Though Jessica had been incredibly outstanding, she knew how to lay low and stay humble. All she wanted was to stay focused on academy.

Undoubtedly, she was worth being treasured.

“Amazing! Never have I expected that you actually got dual doctorate degrees at the age of 16. That’s the reason why you didn’t finish your middle school. What a genius! No wonder you can impress my demanding little girl. You are the very first one who can win her greatest favor. To some degrees, you even overtake Wilfred from the perspective of Valentina.” Alina held her hand caringly to speak. Then she turned to look at Lorenzo, “Lorenzo, you gotta be so blessed that you managed to marry her. Jessica, to be honest, Lorenzo has been retarded when dealing with relationship. Kid, listen, if you dare to fail Jessica, I will definitely revenge on you!”

Jessica fixed her eyes on Lorenzo, who was sitting on the couch nearby while fiddling with tea set.

Meanwhile, he seemed to notice her gaze. So he raised his head to look at her.

“Grandma, please continue with the talk with her. I got something else to do.” Lorenzo uttered casually. Then he stood up and walked to the study.

“Grandma, I gotta get myself changed.” Seeing that, Jessica figured out an excuse to walk away. She somehow felt a bit upset.

“Okay. But remember to have dinner when it’s ready.” Alina smiled to reply.

Inside the study, Lorenzo was sitting in front of his desk with legs crossed while smoking, on which files were piled up for his disposal. Meanwhile, the ashtray was stuffed with cigarette butts.

After a long silence, he stood up to walk into the bedroom. However, when he laid his hand on the knob, he still held back his urge to push the door open.

Standing at the stairs for minutes, he turned around to enter the closet.

After packing up his luggage, he went downstairs.

“Lorenzo, where are you going?” seeing him walking outside the door with the luggage case, Alina asked worriedly.

“I got something urgent to deal with. I gotta leave tonight. Don’t worry, grandma. I am fine.”

But his face still remained sulky with his voice mixed with gloom.

“Stop explaining to me! You should explain to Jessica!” Alina responded seriously.

Lorenzo still kept silent.

“Stop!” Alina huffed.

“Wilfred has a crush on her, right?”

As a sophisticated lady being through a lot, Alina could tell the reason immediately.

“He didn’t confess. So I am not sure about it. But probably…” Lorenzo replied honestly.

“Even if Wilfred has been demanding about girls, it’s still a common case that he would be allured by Jessica. After all, this girl impressed everyone around her with her talent.” Alina added softly.

“Grandma, I am afraid I gotta go.” Lorenzo just wanted to run away from this topic.

“Lorenzo, Jessica is a nice girl. Don’t ever fail her. You should stand by her side to develop both your business and your marriage together with her. That’s the way to fight against those gossips.”

“She has never disdained you because of your mental disorder. She has been struggling to help you recover. She treats her marriage with you with the greatest sincerity. Why don’t you try to change yourself for her sake?”

“She has no responsibility to stay for you. If you lost her, it would be gone forever before you could regret it. Think about it. There’s no second chance.” Alina continued.

Still, Lorenzo responded with silence while facing outside the door.

He simply stood still, being alone.

Finally, he made his choice—he pushed the door to leave.

“Granny Mrs. Fletcher…the situation is worsening. Jessica still caught the eyes of so many people even though she had only revealed part of it. If everything is uncovered, I am afraid…” the butler sighed while looking at Alina.

“If so, it’s gonna be a mess inside the family. After all, Jessica herself is incredible.”

“Hey, I am still here. Though I am aging, I am not weakening.” Alina glanced at the butler.

She then held Raphael into her arms.

“A solid marriage could only be made after tough challenges. If they could stick together, everything will be fine.”

“However, someone else is gonna break in if the gap between them starts gaping.” Meanwhile, the butler held a different opinion. After all, Lorenzo appeared too stubborn.

“Oh, Raphael, there you are! I have been looking for you.” After shower, Jessica walked downstairs.

She smiled as Raphael was running over to her. Then she bent over to held him up.

“Jessica, you must be tired today. Time for dinner. I told the chef to prepare your favorite dishes.”

Alina smiled caringly at her.

“Grandma, thanks…” Jessica appeared deadly alluring after shower.

“But Lorenzo is still working in the study, right? Shall we wait?”

“Forget about him. He is leaving for the office. He won’t be back tonight.” Alina replied.

What?

Jessica was surprised.

Lorenzo would always get her noticed whenever there was a change about his schedule. But this time, he made such an exception.

“Jessica, even though you are married, it takes both of you to get through every challenge together. Undoubtedly, it also takes some time. After all, everyone is born to be different from others.”

“I don’t mean to defend Lorenzo. He has been in badly need for a sense of security since he was a kid. No one stays by his side but me alone, until you joined us. You have stepped into his lonely world…”

“You gotta provide what he needs. However, you are so talented that there are a lot of guys preying on you. That’s why he lost the sense of security. He wanna hold you tight, afraid that you will leave him. As you know, he has been bothered by mental disorder…”

“He wanna capture you…However, he’s afraid if you will struggle to run away because of that.”
