Contract Marriage: My Sweet Bossy Wife novel Chapter 148

Jessica went back to the bedroom with Raphael in her arms. The puppy was sleeping soundly.

However, Jessica stayed awake.

“Lorenzo, you need to work overnight?” Jessica texted euphemistically.

“Yes, I will be busy tonight. I won’t be back.” Lorenzo texted back the next second.

He must be waiting for her message, she supposed.

Jessica was speechless.

“Can we talk?” Jessica texted again. She knew she needed to take the initiative to solve the problem before it was getting worse.

“Time for bed. I gotta go for a video conference.” Again, Lorenzo texted back immediately.

Obviously, he figured out an excuse to decline her request.

Of course, Jessica noticed that. Stuffed with upset, she smashed her phone on the queen bed and lifted the pillow for Lorenzo to smash it.

After venting out her anger, she lay down with the pillow into her arms, from which she could smell the scent of Lorenzo. Soon, she fell asleep as her heart was eased.

Jessica waited up early in the next morning. After washing herself up, she got changed and hurried to the Training Institute. When she reached the pharmacy, there was no one else but the keeper.

After doing some research, she walked to the yard to relax herself. While she was walking to the garden, she saw an old lady, who seemed sick while teetering. Jessica hurried over to catch her before she hit the ground.

“Ma’am, are you okay? I am a doctor. I can help you.” Jessica showed the lady her identity card. She supported her to the bench nearby.

After doing a physical check for her, she noticed that this old lady was in awful situation—she was in the midst of terminal cancer.

She took out her needle and portable medical equipment.

After disinfecting the needle, she started the treatment.

“I must be blessed by God at the end of my life. I can’t believe I meet such an incredible goddess like you. Really dazzling!” the old lady felt like dreaming when seeing her gorgeous look.

She couldn’t help wondering if she were taken to the heaven.

“Ma’am, this is the Training Institute, where we conduct medical study. It ain’t no heaven. I ain’t no goddess but a doctor.” Jessica spoke softly to ease his emotion before she put the needle through her skin.

“Not heaven? You gotta be kidding! I have never seen such a gorgeous girl like you on this planet. You must be an alien.” The old lady smiled.

Before she could continue, she was choked by violent coughing.

She put her hand to cover her mouth while coughing. However, a tinge of blood leaked between her fingers.

Jessica hurried to perform the fine-needle technique. A few seconds later, she stopped coughing blood.

“Ma’am, I need to continue to cure your disease. But it’s gonna be hurt. Are you okay with that?” while speaking, she showed her more needles.

“Well…hmmm…maybe you can try another treatment? I have phobia about needles. But I am okay with the pain.” The old lady was about to pass out when facing those needles.

“Just close your eyes. That’s the best I can do. For the sake of your life, please close your eyes, okay?” Jessica said quickly.

“Alright…” she still closed her eyes.

Jessica’s voice sounded soft and solacing. The old lady somehow felt really eased when hearing her voice.

Jessica finished the acupuncture within three seconds.

Soon, her pale face turned better. She looked composed.

Twenty minutes later, Jessica pulled out all needles. At this moment, the old lady was sweating all over.

Jessica took out some tissue to wipe off the sweat on her face and neck. Then she supported the old lady into a restroom nearby.

She didn’t leave until she was sure that the old lady was fine.

Meanwhile, Leila had been tailing Jessica stealthily. Seeing her leaving, Leila sneaked in to see what was happening.

However, before she stepped in, some of her colleagues entered one by one. A few of them looked at her curiously to ask what she was doing.

“I saw an old lady just now. I don’t know what happened. But Leila, you must be helping her!”
