Crash-landed On An Island With Nine Beauties novel Chapter 59

"What am I supposed to do?"

It was quite a difficult answer to reach. Funny thing, the lion wasn't charging at him, instead, it was taking gentle but wild movements towards him. Its scary eyes never letting go of his. The lion looked calm and collected, yet there was this strange wave of terror which accompanied every of its move. Talk more about the king of the jungle.

It's quite strange because two kings were standing before each other. A fight between a king of chance, and a king born into the territory. Definitely one must cower before the other. Or at least, show some respect.

If you ask Damien, the answer would be simple. How would you expect a man to bow to an animal? If you do ask the lion also... how would the owner of the jungle bow to some strange and advanced animal who walk on two long legs like the ostrich?

Judging by the dark light in the corner of the lion's deep yellow eyes, there was no iota of fear there. But Damien on the other hand would shit his pants anytime from now.

COULD THIS BE PART OF THE TASK? IN ORDER TO BECOME THE KING OF THE ISLAND, DO I HAVE TO DO THIS?

The lion charged at him. Damien knew that he couldn't turn back on it. Instead, he ran towards the lion. When they were about to meet, he threw his frame into the air and somersaulted over the lion.

OO, THAT WAS CLOSE.

He dropped on of his knees, one of his palms kissing the damp earth, his face tilted to look at his back. The lion glid towards the foot of a tree and stopped. It turned back at Damien, then growled.

When Damien thought that he was able to get away with the first attack, he felt pain tingling in his left arm. Unfortunately he didn't have the luxury of time to look at what had happened to him. He could hear the lion charging again at him.

He looked up ahead of him. If he could take about five throws of his body, he would get to the foot of the tree which was not far from him.

He went for it. Throwing his arms violently in the air to aid the swift movement of his body. His legs were considerate and he was quite the lucky one.

Before the lion could get to him, he had jumped on the trunk of the tree. With the help of the CAPENTER skill which had grown on him, he was already at the top of the highest branch of the tree.

He looked down at the lion, panting heavily. He could see surprise in the eyes of the lion. The lion might have been stunned to see someone climb a tree with such swiftness and in the blink of an eye.

"Will he be able to climb the tree?"

[Ping! Jungle Wits: Lions can hardly climb trees as tall as this. Especially a lion of his size. You'd be shitting your pants now if it were a leopard]

"Oh fuck, thank God."

He didn't have much time to build on the joke the system had just pulled. He gulped, watching the lion make an attempt to climb the tree.

"I can't kill him. I have to devise a plan. But wait, how the fuck am I supposed to tame something that's keen on killing me?"

The thought sent a chill down his spine, he shrugged it off.

"It was a different case with the wolf. She was injured. There was a chance."

He looked down at the growling lion again, who was now climbing up the tree, but then fell back down.

"But this bastard is agile as fuck. Just a chance at me, motherfucker would be singing, 'some have food'."

The lion which had fallen over and over again was not ready to leave yet. It kept trying to climb. This time it was able to climb half the trunk of the tall tree, but fell again.

Damien could hear it groan. He gulped again. He had no idea what to do at the moment. His mind was busy. Suddenly, something popped up in his mind.

He flipped out the window system. He scrolled through, searching for the skill or feature which would be useful for that moment.

"The wild Hunter..."

His fingers hovered over that skill. He shook his head.

"This is would be useful if I want to take him down. The instruction is to tame the bastard."

He groaned. He didn't know what decision to make. He couldn't quite place it yet.

"Who knows what the hidden task is about. It could turn out to be something really useful."

He pursed his lips. Suddenly, the pain came from his arms again when he tried to adjust his balance on the branch of the tree. He observed the arm. There were three deep cuts caused by the big and sharp claws of the lion.

OH, GOD.

The view was gory and sad. If he was probably Evelyn or Claire, he would be bawling his eyes out at the moment. His jaws stiffened at once.

"You know what? Fuck the hidden task. After all, the last hidden task was a super dumb thing!!!"

He made up his mind and made to jump down the tree, but then he had a change of mind.

OH FUCK, THIS IS KILLING ME.

He decided to climb up again, but he lost his balance on the branch.

"Oh, shit."

He was lucky. It was a random reflex action. The hurt arm involuntarily held unto the branch, while his body dangled, hanging down the branch.

There was a wave of hope that hit the lion which ran at once to the bottom of the branch and started jumping for a luck.

Damien on the other hand realized that he wouldn't be able to keep himself hanging with the hurt arm, he pushed his body up, eased the hurt arm of the pain by getting the other arm busy. In no time, he was back on the branch of the tree, seated.

"I thought I died. That was close."

His heart was pounding heavily. Again, his life just flashed before his eyes. This time he wasn't bitter or mad, he was determined. He couldn't possibly let situations like this keep repeating itself.

He remained seated on the branch for a while. He needed to clear his head, at least a little bit to come to a reasonable decision.

He knew that he couldn't just sit there. He needed to act. Yet, he was clueless.

He brought up the system window again. He scrolled up to the superpower feature. His finger hovered over it.

"I'll get three minutes as soon as I activate this. Will three minutes be enough to tame this bastard?"

He took in a deep breath. He wished there was someone who could advise him on what to do. Der wasn't even in sight. For all he knew, the wolf might be hiding somewhere close.

"Let whatever happens come. Let's get on it first. If it ends up with killing instead of taming, so be it. I can't die trying to tame some lion."

It wasn't difficult after all to come to a decision by himself.

[Ping! System notification: In thirty seconds the lion would walk away.]

Damien shook his head,

"No, no way! I can't let him walk away. That's even scarier. Not only my life will be in danger but that of the girls."

He waited for a while, doing a countdown in his mind. He watched the lion turn after thirty seconds and began to walk away.

When the lion was about to get to the foot of the tree on whose branches he had spread the processed Bast fibres, he called out the skill.

At once, he felt sudden rush course through his body. His eyes glowed, his skin glowed, vision became clearer. Huge veins popping up on his arms and legs. There was this sudden feeling which hit it. The feeling that he could lift a mountain.

He did a back lift off the branch and landed skillfully on the earth. He couldn't feel any pain in his arms anymore. It felt like he was a new man.

"Hey bastard, let's get this over with!!!"

He called on top of his voice. The lion turned at once. Seeing him, it growled, showing off its huge fangs and scary jaws, saliva dripping.

THIS BASTARD IS DROOLING?

Damien felt insulted at that.

"You little shit!!!"

He lost it and charged at the lion. The lion picked up the same momentum.

The both met at the middle of the space. While the lion tried and fought to clap Damien's face with both heavy paws, Damien grabbed it face, his hands swiftly moved to the jaws, separating the jaws from closing on his hands.

Damien turned it over that way, making it fall on its back. The lion almost hit him in the face with the fighting claws.

Damien dropped on his butts, still holding firmly unto the lion's jaws. His legs now wrapped around the stomach of the lion, in a means to make it submit.

But that was his wish! The lion kept fighting. Though Damien had advantages over the lion, he was stronger and swifter, his reflexes top-notch, yet the the lion was a fighter. I guess he now understood why they were called the kings of the jungle.

"Give up, you bastard."

Damien groaned, struggling with it. He was pushing the jaws up. If he went any higher, he'd be tearing the jaws. He didn't want to do that.

His fingers were thoughtfully tucked into the bridges in the big set of teeth in the lion's mouth.

"This is no use."

Damien got mad and slowly got up, unwrapping his legs. Yet his hands still held unto the jaws of the lion.

He had a limited time of course. He couldn't possibly keep seating there all day long.

He got clawed in his thighs, but he couldn't feel a pain. Of course he wasn't himself.

Getting the lion back on its feet was very difficult. But he did eventually.

He quickly let go of the jaws of the lion and jumped over its head. He planted a heavy punch in the side of the lion. He could hear bones shifting at the impact.

The lion groaned, growling in pain. It dropped on its side, whimpering.

"I'm sorry. That was the only option."

He stood over the lion. Suddenly the lion jumped up and limped away into the forest.

Damien felt a need to follow it. But as he made a move to, he felt his body power down like a power generator. His body went numb. Then he slumped on the earth.

Gloom.
