Crash-landed On An Island With Nine Beauties novel Chapter 66

"Laurette."

Damien called, staring at the beautiful face before him. He couldn't believe that she slept in his arms. He didn't want to read weird meanings to that. He couldn't afford to.

Her gaze was soft, eyes hiding behind the lids. Her nose upturned, lips soft and kissable. He gulped. He looked away quickly. He had promised not to take advantage. Plus he had to return to the rest of the girls.

He had put her in her room, sparing her a foam board so she could rest comfortably.

WHERE'S THIS FOOL? DIDN'T I TELL HER TO MEET ME AT THE CASTLE.

~ why are you yelling, you dumbass ~

He got a retort from the wolf. He looked at his back, through the opened door of the room to the hallway. He couldn't find the wolf.

AM I SOME SORT OF JOKE TO YOU? ARE YOU TROLLING RIGHT NOW?

~ when you're done bickering, you'd come to the living room ~

"The living room. The bastard is at the living room."

He noticed a blanket in the corner of the scanty room. He picked it up and tucked her in. He stood up from her to leave. Then she reached out her hand and grabbed his wrist.

He turned to her.

"Laurette?"

Her hand slowly slid off his wrist till it dropped on the foam board. He stared at her for a while trying to understand what that meant, but he couldn't quite place it.

He walked out of the room, bare-chested. He couldn't bring himself to taking his top off her. He didn't have the strength to explain shit to the rest of the girls.

He strode through the hallway and down the staircase. The wolf was nowhere to be found.

"Who does this bastard think she is? It's about time I broke her jaws. She should learn her lesson."

Suddenly, he felt a swift movement behind him. With the help of the quick reflexes from the system, he was able to duck and avoid the impact.

YOU CRAZY ASS DUMMY!

He glared at Der who had a smirk, the corner of her eyes dreading.

I'LL WARN YOU FOR YOUR SAKE. USE YOUR BRAIN.

He tried to talk the wolf out of the game, but she didn't care. She kept moving sideways, giving him a cornered glare.

YOU WANT TO END UP HURT, DON'T YOU?

The wolf charged at him. Damien didn't push his frame, neither forward nor to the side. He had been trying to prove something all this time. He was glad that Der had willingly given herself away as the object of test.

She leapt into his arms, trying to push him down. For a fact, her weight was heavy. She was 400 pounds. With the help of the system, Damien was able to withstand the push. But that didn't mean that he didn't have to struggle to keep his balance.

The impact almost shook him off his balance, making him glid on his shoes to the back till he was able to steady himself again.

YOU WERE WARNED.

He groaned, sweeping every idle strength in him into a whole as he grabbed the wolf by its fat waists and threw her away to his left.

He watched. She didn't fall on her side, nor on her back. She dropped smoothly on her feet.

[Ping! The wolf and man task updated the super power span. 10 minutes of retention, 2 days to refill.]

Damien reluctantly looked away from the wolf to the system window which had just popped up. He tried to break the words into relatable syllables.

"I don't have to wait for three days but two? The power would last for ten minutes and no longer three minutes?"

It was too good to be true. His eyes involuntarily fell on the wolf again. Damien could swear that he saw her smile as she turned away from him and climbed up the stairs, towards Laurette's room.

Damien wanted to call her back and ask her to explain what just happened. He couldn't. The thoughts forming in his mind was way too ridiculous to entertain. He watched the wolf disappear into the hallway.

IT'S MUST BE A MERE COINCIDENCE. NO BIG DEAL.

He convinced himself. Suddenly, he recalled that he'd left the girls alone in the woods. He ran out of the castle.

He activated the super speed skill and zoom!!! He was off.

"One of us must stand up to him!!!"

Jada called on top of her voice. Do not bother to ask, the girls weren't hunting in pairs. Instead they were, in group. A big group. And it's more of strolling than hunting.

"Aren't you his whore? What changed?"

Tendzel snapped at Jada.

"Can we stop referring to ourselves as that already? After all, we all know that you've also slept with him."

Lisa stood up to Tendzel.

"What did you just say? Do you want me to send an arrow through those tits??"

Tendzel threatened.

"Y'all are all talk! Who amongst you could talk while he was? You couldn't. Your lips were glued, and now you want to stand up? Tell me how."

Allison sneered at them generally.

"You know what you should worry about, hunting games."

She added.

"You surprise me Allison. I used to admire you thinking that you are the strongest of us all, but it happened that you're even more helpless than we are. I bet you've been coveting him before we landed on this island. The adapting story is just a cover up, huh?"

Jada lectured, not willing to be mute anymore on the topic which she had been nursing since few days ago.

"Believe what you will, at least that makes you feel as though you're sensible."

Jada's eyes widened, but she knew she couldn't dare to fight Allison. It's like signing a death wish and declaring, "Allow me to die in your hands, mistress".

"Would you have said that if it were your sister?"

Tendzel attacked Allison. Allison turned to Mira who had been quiet all along.

"Don't not get me wrong, Mira. I know you're one of the few sensible ones amongst these run-mouths."

Mira looked up slowly at her.

"If we stuck with the rules, nothing like this would had happened."

He turned to the rest of the girls.

"Did he ever hit you before now? Did he hit you even when you cuss him, even though he had the power to?"

None of them was willing to respond.

"Then why do you pretend as if he's evil? Just play by the rules and we'll all be fine."

She sneered.

"You think I would lose if he dies? No!!! I'll always find my way. But I can't say the same thing about y'all."

"Hey see, it's a deer!!!"

Evelyn called on top of her voice. She obviously hadn't been listening.

"It's my catch."

She warned the rest as she took steps forward. She put the crossbow in the perfect position. The girls watched. She released the arrow. Squish! It had a contact with one of the upper sides of the deer's limb. The deer fell on one side.

"Yea!!!"

She screamed, running towards it to finish up what she had started.

"By the way, where is Claire?"

Jada, her group member, looked around but couldn't find Claire. The rest of the girls didn't care about Claire.

"Yes, we did it!!!"

Evelyn's pair ran to catch up. To assist.

"Interesting."

Damien stood in a corner, behind a large tree. He'd overheard all what the girls said.

"After all, they are still interesting."

He let out a deep sigh.

"But Allison... What's the deal with her?"

He looked from one girl to the other. A sudden realization dawned on him.

"How about I fake my death. Let's see how they are going to handle that?"

He smirked at the unnecessary but dark thought.

[Ping! Host's processing... through.]

[Ping! Host's wish loading... completed.]

"Huh?"

Damien couldn't believe the system. He didn't know what the pop ups mean.

Suddenly, he heard some strange but swift whooshing coming with full speed behind him.

He turned too late. He felt a squish in his back, towards his shoulder blade. Then followed, an unbearable wave of pain which throbbed through his spines and made his heart ache.

His eyes couldn't get there, he slowly reached out his hand to his back. He gasped when his hand felt it... an arrow deep into his back.

His eyes involuntarily strayed to his back. He saw Claire with a wild smile in her face, strutting towards him.

He made a thud on the cold earth. His vision slowly blurring out...
