Crash-landed On An Island With Nine Beauties novel Chapter 67

"Claire, what did you do?"

"Oh, my God, Damien."

"Claire."

"Somebody please help him up."

Ayisha called. Evelyn eyes were already welling up. All the girls had flocked around Damien who was lying face-down on the earth. The arrow eating deeply into his back. He was making no movement. Unconscious and lifeless?

Some of the girls turned him gently to the side. They couldn't make him rest on his back because of the arrow.

His face looked cold and pale. His eyes shut. His lips forming a strange sort of cracks.

"Is he dead?"

Evelyn was shaking as she stood a distance away from the unconscious Damien.

"Why would you say such a thing? Why would you wish him death?"

Tendzel lashed out at her.

"What are we supposed to do, what are we supposed to --"

Allison started pacing, not sure of what to do.

"Put him on my back. "

Tendzel offered.

"Let's treat him here. The arrow didn't hit in the left part. It would had crushed or squished through his heart. We might still have a chance to save him."

Ayisha schooled them.

"Let's take him to the castle. That's a better idea. We can't promise what might happen out here."

Allison opposed.

"I agree with Allison."

Majority of the girls supported Allison's suggestion. That seemed more reasonable. Damien was put on the back of Tendzel who led the girls towards the castle.

Claire couldn't leave the position she was. She stood glued there. Allison looked back at the last time.

"You'll die by my hand if I see you again today."

She threatened, and kept on following the girls, guiding Tendzel and steadying Damien on her back like the other girls.

"What's happening? How could he give up that easily? No, he can't die."

Claire shook her head, her eyes about to well up. She pushed a lump down her throat, shaking her head again.

"No, he must be pulling a prank on us. No, no way."

A stray tear trailed off her cheek. She gulped again.

"Why didn't he stop the arrow? I'd seen him do the impossible. How did the arrow hit him?"

She shrugged at the thought, shivering.

"No, he's not dead. He's just pulling a prank. I'm sure."

She seemed to had come to a final conclusion. She ran along the path to catch up with the rest of the girls. Making sure to keep a reasonable distance behind.

Back in the castle, Laurette's eyes flipped open and she slowly sat up on the foam board. She noticed a sort of blanket on her. She touched it. Then she felt something soft beneath her. She touched it.

"A foam board?"

She muttered. She looked across the room.

"Who did th---"

The vibrant brain tossed the recent memories of her in the arms of Damien being carried home.

"He's not that bad."

She smiled at the thought. The memory stretched down to when he helped her lie on the foam board. When she pretended to be asleep then grabbed his wrist.

"Why the fuck did I even do that?"

She wasn't happy with herself. Or she pretended not to be.

Suddenly, the restless brain zoomed to the events which happened before the mushy ones. She flinched when the dreading thought leached off her emotional stability.

"Bug!!"

She looked down at herself, her eyes scurrying in her sockets. It was then that she noticed his cloth on her.

"That fool."

She cussed, jumping to her feet. She slowly edged to the door and opened the door. She staggered back.

"The wolf."

Her eyes widened. The wolf was lying by the door, well-stretched, eyes closed, heads between her front limbs.

"What's she doing here?"

She gulped, her heart increasing the breathing pace.

"Could he had left her to watch me?"

She quizzed. She obviously didn't have an answer to that question. When next her eyes did what they ought to, she saw the wolf staring at her. She almost passed out.

The wolf slowly looked away as though she didn't care, stood up and began to walk down the hallway.

Laurette walked slowly to the door to ascertain. She gently followed the wolf. She wasn't sure of what else to do.

"I'll make that fool pay for putting me through this again. As if the bug thing wasn't enough. I can never forgive."

She swore as she climbed down the stairs into the vast space of the living room. Suddenly, she heard some sort of noise coming from outside the castle. More like a racket tamed by chatters.

"That must be them. Hear how happy they are? They don't even care that I just came back from the brink of death."

Her eyes were red now.

"I don't care about them. I must make Damien pay for that."

She hurried past the wolf and ran out of the building.

"Damien, Damien, you jerk!!!"

Her excitement and rage powered down when she saw the long faces of the girls. She was confused. Her eyes trailed off their gazes and fell on Tendzel who had something on her back.

She took two steps forward. Damien on the back of Tendzel.

"Is that Damien?"

No one was willing to answer her. Tendzel who was already weak struggled to find her way into the living room.

"Someone speak, what happened to him?"

Laurette's anger seemed irrelevant even to her at that moment. She noticed how bewildered the girls looked.

"Claire went through with her bet."

"Wait... wh-hat! What are you talking about?"

It was hard for her to process? Mira didn't have the strength to continue explaining.

"We all feel like shit. We don't have time for this yet. We should take care of him first."

Mira walked away from her into the room. Laurette still couldn't bring herself to admitting to the information. Point in time, Claire pushed the wooden gate open.

"Hey bitch!!!"

Laurette ran towards her. I leave you to the judgement.

Lisa returned with a foam board which she had taken from Damien's room. They put him face-down on the foam board.

Immediately the wolf saw Damien lying in that state, her eyes grew desperate and she ran to him. The girls shooed off.

Der began to lick his face, growling at him, and running around his unconscious body. She kept doing that for a while. She looked so pissed and jumpy... not for a moment giving herself a break.

"She must be as heartbroken as we are."

Evelyn's face was pale.

"I warned him. I warned him that things might go wrong."

Mira added.

"This is not the time to worry about that. We can't keep standing here while the wolf continue doing that. Else we would lose him finally."

As though the wolf heard them, she stopped her show and ran out of the castle. She ran as though she was being chased by a tough and ruthless wild cat.

"Where's she going?"

Jada asked.

"How about you run along and ask her."

Allison snapped rolling her eyes. She rushed to Damien.

"We should pull the arrow in his back out first. I've seen things like these in movies."

"No, please don't. You might hurt him more. Blood will gush out. Also, he said that we shouldn't act or do things because we think it's right."

Evelyn wasn't going to let them carry one.

"Should we accept that he's dead then? Should we do nothing assuming he's dead??"

Ayisha barked at her. The girls were stunned. What the fuck has gotten into Ayisha? Why was she so mad. Why was she yelling?

"Calm down, we are all scared. Let's just get to work."

Allison was trying as much as possible to be collected. She could count the number of the girls who were holding back tears. Had Damien grown so much on them? Were they all pretending not to like him?

The wolf ran back in at once. In its mouth was some root and leaves. She dropped the leaves on the back of Damien. Then she turned and walked to Ayisha, growling.

"Ayisha, she wants you to do it."

Mira called with eagerness. Ayisha gulped then walked slowly to Damien. She knelt beside.

"Please get as many clothes as possible ready."

She warned, her hand fisted on the base of the arrow; the end of the arrow in his flesh.

"Do what you have to do."

Allison snapped. Ayisha didn't have time for that. She started the process.

"Please gently."

Evelyn was ready to take her place. Ayisha on the other hand ignored all distractions. There was the wolf growling at her to be snappy.

She gently pulled out the arrow. When she did, blood began to spurt. Evelyn's eyes widened, she dropped on her butts to the hard floor, clutching her hands to her chest at the sight of blood.

"Oh... Damien."

She let her eyes rain. Nursing catarrh.

The rest of the girls went to the extent of ripping some parts of their clothes to make the blood stop.

"This won't do."

Ayisha opined. Her eyes fell on Laurette who had just dragged Claire in. Claire had blood in the corners of her eyes and lips.

"Give us his top. I'd rip it and use it to bind the wound to suppress the excess flow of blood."

Laurette quickly did as instructed. Ayisha ripped the cloth into a long counterpart, making a sort of a straight long but wide rope.

"Help me."

With the help of some of the girls, she crushed the root and leaves, applied it on the wound then bound it up.

"We can only wait now."

Ayisha dropped on her butts, tears trailing off her cheeks, though with made no sound. Some of the girls had their hands to their mouth, some clutched to their chest. And there was Claire shaking her head and muttering,

"It's a prank."

The wolf walked to Damien, standing beside Ayisha who didn't seem to care whether it was a wolf or a lion.

~ wake up you bastard. wake up ~

~ none of the girls meant their words, wake up and see for yourself ~

The wolf was quiet for a while. When no response came, she called again.

~ do you have a death wish. i said wake up. I'm warning you. ~

Suddenly, she heard a sort of static frequency in the depth of her consciousness. The static gradually built up a wave then words,

YOU FOOL, YOU'RE TOO LOUD.

There was a pause, then continuation.

I'M ALIVE, BUT I CAN'T MOVE NOR OPEN MY EYES.

~ oh... thank the moon god. ~

Der sighed.

[Ping! Host's duplicate processing.]

[Ping! Interference! Aviathius root collided with the update status... duplicate process delayed by three days.]

OH SHIT. THESE FOOLS.

Damien groaned in his thoughts.

~ what's it?~

GO TO THE CANNIBALS. TELL THEM TO COME CARRY ME. I WON'T SURVIVE IF I REMAIN WITH THESE DUMBASSES.

The wolf was off at once. The girls gaped as they watched her go.
