Darling, Don't Get Rid of Me novel Chapter 92

"Hey, aren't you Miss Clark?" A woman's voice came from yonder and it was filled with animosity. "Aren't you bored, being all alone here?"

Harriet raised her head, it was Aya and she was looking down at Harriet with disdain.

Seeing that it was a fellow female star, Harriet immediately knew that she wasn't approaching her with good intentions. She was certain that this woman was among the people who talked behind her back, and was a part of Camille's so-called "best friend group". One time, Cherry cried with vexation because of them, Harriet thought to herself that she should be wary of them.

"I see that you are all alone as well." Harriet replied relaxedly, "If you're not bored, then I'm not either."

Aya giggled, "Not everyone is like you, you couldn't even hold on to your own man."

She looked to her side as she said that, a young man in a suit immediately came right up to her, diligently passing her a bottle of champagne. He smiled at her, bent over backwards to please her, "Miss Watson, would you like to have something to eat?"

Aya waved her hand, "No. There's somebody here who is ruining my appetite."

Harriet recognized the young man, his name was Andre and he was a little-known male star. He entered showbiz for a few years already, but he never got popular. The reason behind it was because his character was questionable.

He was in the news before for sexually harassing an actress during shooting, he was almost blacklisted but managed to grasp on a lifeline. Looking at the situation right now, it must be Aya who bailed him out of the situation.

"Miss Clark, would you mind moving to another seat?" Andre suddenly requested as he was hinted to do it.

Harriet grimaced, "There are so many seats around, why should I move away?"

Aya snorted, "Because this is a good seat, you can overlook and get a good view of the floor below from here. You should switch seats now while you still can, you wouldn't want to get into trouble with me."

Since the other person wasn't even trying to be polite to her, Harriet decided that she shouldn't just take it either. She smiled cockily and said, "What if I don't want to?"

"Who do you think you are?" Aya wailed, "Don't think you're a big shot just because you came here with Mr. Smith. But see, he immediately left you alone as soon as you guys reached here. If I were you, I would be so ashamed and would quickly leave the event. Oh, I forgot. Your skin is so thick that you can't feel shame, and you still have the mood to sit around and eat."

Harriet was unhappy, to begin with, and Aya kept rubbing it in. She felt her anger boiling.

"And who do you think you are? At least I'm here as Mr. Smith's female companion, even if it's only in name. You on the other hand…"

She glimpsed at Andre while saying that, her eyes filled with sarcasm and disdain.

Andre was miffed, it was obvious that Harriet was belittling him because he wasn't very well-known, and that he was making Aya lose face because of it.

"Harriet, I see that you want to do it the hard way. Don't blame me if things were to get ugly," said Andre impudently, he dropped his polite act and was giving Harriet a death stare.

Harriet wasn't going to back down, "Do keep in mind that we are currently at an important event." She glanced coldly at the duo, "It's good to know when to stop, otherwise it wouldn't end well if other guests were to see you guys causing a scene for no reason."

Aya laughed unscrupulously, "I'm afraid that you're the one that will be having a hard time winding up the matter. Who do you think is here to give you face? Andre, don't just stand there and get on with it!"

Harriet never had thought that they would really get violent with her. As she tried to dodge the man's attack, she saw Aya hold a glass up and was going to spill the drink on her face.

She couldn't avoid it in time. Harriet's face was splashed with champagne, she looked miserable. The exquisite lace evening dress now had alcohol stains on it.

Aya burst into laughter, "See, Harriet. This is what you get from going against me, if you dare to…"

Aya shrieked before she could finish her sentence, her face was now drenched as well. She couldn't believe what just happened and her eyes were wide open, "How dare you!"

Andre was stunned too, he didn't think that Harriet would be so daring.

Harriet actually took revenge and poured a cup of red wine on Aya's head.

An eye for an eye, she wasn't the type of person who would sit back and take it.

"I'm not nice when it comes to a crazy woman like you." Harriet scoffed, "Don't blame me for taking it the hard way, you're the one that started it and I don't even remember stepping on your toes."

"Harriet… you!"

Aya was huffing and puffing in anger, she raised her hand and was going to slap Harriet on the face. At this very moment, she heard an ice-cold voice behind her saying, "What is going on."

Harriet was pleasantly surprised with Wesley's sudden appearance, as he was supposedly busy talking to the business moguls on the other side of the hall.

Wesley's face was sullen, he scanned the scene briefly and already understood that something bad had happened. He looked sharply at Aya and said, "You started it?"

"I'm… I…"

Seeing that somebody was taking her side, Harriet immediately complained, "It was her. She came over and told me to leave, she then proceeded to splash her drink on me because I wasn't willing to. Look, the dress you got for me is all stained now."

Harriet spoke with a sulky and wronged tone towards the end of her sentence, she wore a dejected expression on her face while looking at Wesley.

The man's face darkened.

Aya was extremely frightened, but she remembered what Camille taught her. She immediately followed suit, acted all pitiful and explained herself.

"That wasn't the case, Mr. Smith. I came over to have a brief conversation with Miss Clark, but she was in a very bad mood because she saw you dancing with another woman. I told her to calm down and that you are just doing that out of courtesy, but she took it out on me and poured red wine all over me, I only returned the favour… You can ask him if I'm telling the truth!"

She pointed to Andre as she said that.

Andre hurriedly nodded his head, "Yes, Mr. Smith. Miss Watson was just trying to comfort Miss Clark. Who would've thought that Miss Clark had such a blinkered attitude and that she lashed out on Miss Watson just because of that."

Harriet wanted to roll in the aisles, these two scumbags were the perfect couple, making up one thing after another trying to make her look bad in front of Wesley. She really underestimated them!

Lisa was following behind Wesley, she was shocked to see what happened. She frowned and looked at Harriet apologetically.

"Miss Clark, I'm so sorry for the misunderstanding. Wesley and I were just talking about some business matter, he didn't mean to leave you alone. Please do forgive me and don't take it personally."

What Lisa said sounded all well and reasonable, she apologized and clarified the situation from her side. But if one were to pay attention to it, she was evidently supporting what Aya said, otherwise she wouldn't have immediately mentioned the misunderstanding.

Harriet knew what trick Lisa had up her sleeve, she was about to explain herself, but suddenly she thought of a better way to deal with the situation. She kept a straight face and reluctantly told Wesley, "Is it really just a business talk? It took way too long. This should be a relaxing event, why did you bring me along then if you were going to leave me alone and go talk to other women."

Aya was puzzled, just now Harriet was in total denial that she was jealous, but now she was openly admitting it to Wesley. Was she not afraid that Wesley would get annoyed at her?

Though to everyone's surprise, Wesley wasn't annoyed at all.

"I thought you didn't like to hear about my business talks."

His tone of voice suggested that he went along with Lisa to the other side just because Harriet didn't usually like to tag along with him when it was about his business matters.

Harriet was even more confused, she was purposely going with the flow to irritate Wesley and to make him realize that she was a woman that had no regard to the relative importance of matters. But, he actually answered her accordingly.

Since when was he so reasonable?

Aya clenched her teeth, she built up her courage and questioned, "Mr. Smith, you are engaged and have a fiance, how could you and Miss Clark…"
