Darling, Don't Get Rid of Me novel Chapter 93

Aya stopped running her mouth as the man's gaze was piercing cold, she was frightened.

"This is the Smith family's personal issue, you as an outsider should stay out."

What Wesley said was not only a warning towards Aya but also towards the busybody people standing around watching the fun.

A few were already watching the scene when Harriet got splashed on, but since the upstairs section was only for VIPs, the people downstairs weren't just going to waltz upstairs without an invitation. The people watching weren't even thinking to go upstairs anymore now that Wesley was there.

Though not being upstairs didn't mean that they didn't know what was going on.

If the incident today were to spread out, it would be the talk of the town. Nothing would happen to Wesley, but Harriet would be in big trouble.

Wesley's cold response stunned Aya, the cat got her tongue. All of a sudden, the man asked her a question back, "What's your name?"

Aya was astonished, she immediately told him her name.

Harriet was getting nervous, she hoped that the silly girl wasn't thinking that Wesley took an interest towards her.

But it was exactly what she thought, Aya really was anticipating something as she blushed and answered, "Mr. Smith, I'm also an artist under the Pleasure Media brand…"

She was then cut off without even finishing her sentence.

"I see, well not anymore."

Aya's eyes were wide open, she couldn't believe her ears.

Harriet glanced at her sympathetically, this woman didn't understand that Wesley was asking for her name just to put it on the circle's blacklist, destroying her career.

Everybody wore weird expressions and was trying to comprehend what just happened. But amidst this Wesley walked up and pulled Harriet with him, and left the event hall without even looking back.

"Wesley!" Lisa chased after him with a complicated look on her face, "Are you angry? Why are you angry?"

Wesley scowled at her dispassionately, "I like clever women, but not someone that thinks themself as clever."

Wesley knew that the stuff Lisa said on purpose just now was to put Harriet in a bad light, he just didn't say anything about it.

Lisa was just as shocked as Aya, she always thought that Wesley was never serious about Harriet and that it was just a fling. But looking at the situation today, it seemed like there was more than met the eyes.

"Wesley, you care about this woman way too much," Lisa tried to act unruffled and continued advising him, "Think about Louisa, how will she feel if she found out about it?"

Wesley was expressionless, "How she feels is none of my business."

Lisa was bewildered, it was no secret in the circle that Wesley doted on Louisa a lot, when did such a dramatic change of attitude happen?

Harriet was forced into the car early on with a towel on her head, she couldn't care less to eavesdrop on their conversation and was focusing on drying her hair.

Wesley took the towel from her the moment he got in the car and helped her wipe away the alcohol stain.

"Wesley, are you possessed?" Harriet was puzzled by his actions.

It wasn't her fault that she was so confused, as Wesley was really acting strangely, his attitude towards her was making her feel loved.

Wesley didn't answer her question but explained himself instead, "Today is Lisa's first contact with the local circle, I am just helping her out a bit."

Harriet was baffled, was that an explanation from him?

And why did he feel the need to explain himself to her? Was it possible that…

No! Stop having stupid thoughts.

Harriet waved the thought away and smiled gently, "I fully understand that she's your friend and you're just trying to give her a hand. There's no need for explanation, Mr. Smith, I'm not that unreasonable."

There was a hint of softness in Wesley's eyes, he asked her, "Did you eat your fill?"

"Yes I did," she replied, "I cannot eat too much, I have to watch my weight for the next drama I'm filming, I need to keep my figure."

"You're not allowed to lose any more weight," said Wesley abruptly.

Harriet laughed, "I'm not losing weight, I'm just maintaining my figure so that it won't go over the required limit."

Wesley was focused on driving, he replied without even glancing at her, "It's good to be chubby, it's nicer to hug."

"..."

The incident at the event was forgotten very soon, Harriet joined the new drama crew after two days. It was the start of a busy and tense schedule, as they were preparing for the drama. As for her relationship with Wesley, it was good to say that it evolved into a steadier one.

She didn't have to do any housework at home, as Wesley rehired the maid they had from before, the maid was responsible for all the housework and their meals. All she had to do is to flirt with Wesley from time to time, fulfill her duty in bed, and all was well and peacefully.

It was just that, she had not seen her brother in a while, it made her a bit dejected. She sighed as she thought about it.

"Oh my, why is our big star Harriet letting out such a deep sigh? Missing your boyfriend already?" Cherry chimed in as soon as she heard the sigh, teasing Harriet.

They got really close to each other and Cherry was more casual around her, this made Harriet feel comfortable.

"What boyfriend?" Replied Harriet unenthusiastically.

Cherry whispered, "Well, Mr. Smith, of course."

"Don't talk nonsense," Harriet was uneasy talking about Wesley in public, after all, it won't end well if someone who was planning some tabloid rumours were to hear about it.

They talked for a bit and started to rehearse for filming.

Today was the third day of filming. It was a pure coincidence that Harriet got the female supporting character role and Cherry the female lead character. They were surprised when they saw each other on the first day.

But there was more to fate, the male supporting character was Keith.

In this script, the male supporting character wasn't scripted to be the protector of the female lead character, but both supporting characters were meant to be a couple.

Looking at the list of actors, Harriet felt a throb in her head.

"Long time no see, Harriet!"

Speaking of the devil, Keith's voice echoed from yonder and as Harriet looked up, Keith's bright smiling face dawned upon her view.

"Long time no see, it's such a coincidence meeting you here."

Harriet kept her composure and politely greeted him. No matter what, work matters shouldn't be mixed with personal affairs. It didn't matter who played the role of the male supporting character, nothing should affect her performance.

Keith looked pleased, he passed a box of sweets to Harriet and said, "Harriet, it's my pleasure to be able to work with you again, I'm very happy."

Harriet accepted his gift with an open heart and smiled, "Yes, we'll be in each other's care."

Keith's eyes arched in a genuine smile.

What was unknown to Harriet was that Keith had purposely asked for the role from the director.

Keith was all over Harriet after the filming started, he took real good care of her. But it made her uncomfortable, she then called him to the make-up room after one scene and decided to talk it out.

"Keith, I hope that you will focus on acting out your character instead of doing other unnecessary stuff."

Keith looked dejected after hearing her, "Are you implying that my acting is not on-par, Harriet?"

"No, no," Harriet hurriedly explained, "It's not about your acting skills, it's about your attitude. Keith, I just hope that you act more professionally and don't lose focus."

She said that because it was obvious that Keith wasn't fully concentrating during the filming, there was a scene where they were about to fight due to a misunderstanding, but Keith was too worried about hurting her and it made the fight scene look fake.

"I'm sorry, Harriet. I will be more careful," answered Keith hesitantly.

Harriet frowned, she now carried a more serious tone, "Well, if you keep acting like that, I'll have to tell you that the character doesn't suit you."
