Darling, Don't Get Rid of Me novel Chapter 110

Everyone knew the president of Pop Culture Group was a tough and cruel man, even in private he never showed any signs of having an intimate personality. Many pretty and famous women have been given the cold shoulder and experienced many setbacks by him, however now, he could tolerate such a small star to this extent?

Although there were no tender feelings in the words he just said, it was not hard for everyone to see how much he doted on her within his words.

Molly boldly stepped forward and said, “Mr. Smith don’t worry, after the meal I will remind Harriet to give you a call.”

Wesley swept a glance at her, although this agent wasn’t one that he had personally picked, he still felt satisfied with her.

At this moment, Jack and another assistant stepped forward and placed several boxes of delicately packed pastries on Harriet’s table and said, “Mr. Smith, everything is here.”

After he said this, he took out a jewellery box and handed it to Wesley.

Harriet didn’t know why she was looking at him, but Wesley gave her back the phone and then opened the jewellery box.

Inside a sapphire necklace studded with diamonds appeared in front of the eyes of everyone and aroused envy and surprise among the other people.

“Wear this tonight.” Wesley said as if he was giving an order.

Harriet glanced at him from the corner of her eyes and as if not afraid of death said, “Why should I wear this?”

Wesley glanced at her coolly and then went behind her to put it on for her.

“Because I picked it out for you.”

“…”

Harriet wanted to answer back, however sometimes you need to know what the limits are and stop yourself. Occasionally quarrelling with someone can show interest in that person, but to always defy someone makes it impossible to know if that interest is good or bad, and ultimately you will suffer from your own actions.

She knew the patience that Wesley possessed.

The lustre of the gemstone necklace made everyone continue to stare at it; just by looking at it you could know the worth and value of the jewellery that man gave. He not only put it around her neck personally, but the pastries on the table also made everyone’s eyes burn with envy. They came from a very well-known brand and even some people who had the money were not able to order from there.

Regardless of what their private relationship was like, it could be that said that the way Wesley doted on Harriet was beyond what was normal.

“It suits you very much.” Wesley sized it up.

Harriet supressed the unhappy and unpleasant feeling she had just now and smiled instead, “Of course, is there ever a time when you lack such exquisite taste? Anyways, why did you come here?”

Wesley replied calmly, “Since I passed by here I thought I would come see you.”

Harriet curled her lips slightly, “So that’s what happened, I thought that you came here especially to check on me at my workplace, but since it’s like this I don’t want to take any more of your time so be careful on your journey.”

After she saw that Harriet didn’t talk back rudely to Wesley again, Molly breathed a sigh of relief. After she had sent Wesley out, she then hurried back and said to Harriet rather bitterly.

“Harriet, how are you able to be that way towards Mr. Smith?”

Harriet looked confused, “What do you mean?”

“Just the way you defy him, do you know how much you scared me to death just now.” Molly said nervously, “You don’t know what kind of temper Mr. Smith has.”

Harriet touched the necklace around her neck rather indifferently and said, “I haven’t been in a good mood recently, so what’s wrong with occasionally not cooperating with him?”

Molly was about to say something but then Cherry stepped forward and said, “Harriet, you can’t talk like that. Mr. Smith is still your financier so don’t be so headstrong with him. Because he was in a good mood today he didn’t care to argue with you. But if you were to touch on his nerves…”

After Molly heard the word ‘financier’ she wasn’t happy, “Mr. Smith isn’t her financier, he is her boyfriend.”

Cherry was dumbfounded, “Her boy…friend?”

“Yes, if he was just her financial aider than why would he be setting his heart on Harriet like this?”

Harriet was a little embarrassed and blamed herself for not explaining things clearly to them both from the start, so she said frankly to them, “Molly, Cherry is right to be honest. I am just one of Wesley’s lovers and that’s all. Saying he is my boyfriend is too ridiculous, he still hasn’t terminated his marriage contract with the Jones family, so how could I really call him my boyfriend.”

Molly was very surprised by this fact.

“But, but I’ve see the way Mr. Smith is towards you, and it does not look like you are just one of his lovers at all.”

Harriet gave a rather helpless bitter smile, “I’m sorry, when you asked before I didn’t tell you because I was afraid of lowering my self-respect.”

What dignity did she have remaining to say anything?

It was quiet around them for a few moments but then very soon everyone was cleaning up and preparing to go to dinner.

Outside of the studio a black car was turning around slowly.

Jack who was also a part time driver was becoming more and more unable to understand the words and actions of his boss. He came especially to see Harriet today so he didn’t understand why Wesley said he was just casually passing by here. Therefore he couldn’t help but ask, “Sir, is there anything else you would like to tell me why you came here?”

Wesley was closing his eyes to take a rest, “What is it that you wish to say?”

As Wesley’s right hand man for many years, Jack had always done many things for him without saying much in return. However now he felt it was necessary to ask what his boss was thinking, otherwise he could do something wrong in the future and get himself into trouble.

“With all due respect, I just want to ask, what are your true intentions towards Miss Harriet…?”

True intentions?

Wesley slowly opened his eyes and suddenly realized that his words and actions had indeed been strange these past few days.

He had seen Harriet collapse after Colin’s accident, and apart from the slight energy she had while filming, she was clearly absent minded and inattentive at other times. Even in front of him she was forcing a smile, and even though she was always obedient towards him, however this obedience towards him was not making him feel very happy.

He wanted to see a real smile on her face, not just simply to cater to him.

Since his boss had not replied to him, Jack decided not to ask any more questions and just quietly drove the car back to the office.

As it darkened outside, the city was full of bright neon lights.

In the most prosperous part of downtown California, Harriet was toasting in a lively restaurant with her filming crew.

“Harriet, don’t drink anymore or you’re going to get drunk soon.” Molly who was beside Harriet, watched as Harriet kept downing many drinks and was starting to worry.

However Harriet didn’t listen to her and carried on drinking to her heart’s content.

Perhaps it was that only when she was drunk could she forget that fact that she would never be able to find her brother.

However Cherry’s reaction was completely different to Molly’s, Cherry patted Molly on the shoulders and said rather earnestly, “Harriet you seem to have been holding back a lot these days. If you have things on your mind then why not vent them out now, you have both of us here now right? Granted that you are drunk there is nothing to worry about.”

“But…”

Before Molly’s words of worry could be spoken, Cherry picked up her wine glass and clinked it together with Harriet’s and said, “Harriet, I will drink with you, let’s drink until we get drunk.”

Harriet was obviously a little drunk at this point but still drained her cup in one gulp.

However after she drank this glass, as expected she started to feel very uncomfortable and rushed to the bathroom to throw up.

“Just look at you, didn’t I tell you earlier not to drink so much! You’re not feeling well now right?” Molly helped her rinse her mouth out and patted her back rather worriedly.

Harriet looked very dejected and suddenly asked her, “Molly, do you think I’m a bad person?”

Molly was stunned but immediately shook her head, “What are you talking about? Why would I ever think this way about you?”

“Forget it; I never cared what other people thought about me anyways.” Harriet laughed at herself, “As long as Colin can come back then I don’t care about anything. The way I am now, what is the difference between being someone’s wife? I don’t care anymore.”

Cherry who was also there listening to what she was saying asked rather profoundly, “Harriet, isColin your younger brother?”

She had heard Harriet mention this name Colin before.

Molly sighed and said, “Yes, I have met Harriet’s younger brother one time before, he was both a very talented and attractive boy. I just have no idea what happened to him, she has been keeping it inside for so long and never saying anything…”
