Desperate Lovers novel Chapter 369

Putting on her mask again, Angela hurried out and took a taxi to the Harvey Group.

Sitting on the back seat, Angela looked outside the window and all she was thinking about in her mind was James.

'I should trust him to have nothing to do with Mom's death!'

Twenty minutes later, the taxi arrived at the building of the Harvey Group.

Angela got off and went into the building without even taking the change.

"What can I do for you?" said the receptionist with a smile as she saw Angela.

"Where is James?" asked Angela as she took off her sunglasses and mask and put them on again.

The receptionist recognized her and pushed the button for the elevator and said, "Mr. James is in the 26th floor."

"Thank you," said Angela as she went into the elevator and pushed the button for the 26th floor. Looking anxiously at the changes of the floor number, Angela couldn't wait to show up before James right now.

The elevator arrived.

Taking a deep breath, Angela went out of the elevator with her bag and walked to the office of the president.

Angela met few people on this floor and they just glanced and nodded at her with little curiosity.

When Angela arrived at the door of the president's office, she saw through the crack of the door that James was standing by the French window with his back on her and was speaking to someone on the phone.

"Have you dealt with the death of Mrs. Chante?"

James' voice rang out when Angela was going to knock. With a sudden constriction of her pupils, Angela was stunned.

'What does he mean?'

"Okay, don't let Angela know it and remotely delete the chatting records on Mrs. Chante's phone," rang out James' voice again.

With her hand down limply, Angela couldn't help trembling and looked pale.

'Why does he ask someone to delete the chatting records on Mom's phone?'

'Why can't I know it?'

'Did James really have something to do with Mom's death?!'

"Miss Angela?"

A voice suddenly rang out from the back of Angela.

With a cold sweat breaking out on her forehead, Angela turned slowly to see Howard Lee. She took off her mask and smiled at him.

"Why don't you get in?" asked Howard in a curious voice.

Hearing the sound, James hung up and walked out to look at the Angela.

"I just arrived," said Angela with a smile though her hand was sweating, "and I'm bored at home and it's inconvenient to get to the company. So I come to James."

She glanced at James with a pretending carelessness and couldn't tell anything from his face.

"It seems that I come in the wrong time. I'll make it brief and leave as soon as I'm done!" said Howard jokingly.

"You must be joking," said Angela insincerely as her mind was a mess.

Glancing at Angela thoughtfully, James opened the door to let them in and habitually took over her bag while Angela avoided his hand subconsciously. James looked up at her with an obscure expression on his face.

Under the eyes of James, Angela felt an oppression in chest and said, "Where's the bathroom? I drank two cups of milk tea on the way here."

"It's over there," said James as he gazed at Angela for a while and pointed in the direction of the bathroom.

With a nod, Angela went to the bathroom absently. She went into a cubicle directly, locking the door and sitting on the toilet.

She felt like her heart was breaking.

'He just ruined it when I was about to trust him!'

Taking a deep breath, Angela tried to suppress her emotions as James was going to suspect it if her eyes were red when she returned.

Washing her face, Angela went back to the president's office and there was only James in it.

"When did you arrive?" asked James with an obscure expression on his face.

With her heart skipping a beat, Angela replied, "I just arrived when Mr. Lee spoke to me."

Coming up to James, Angela asked with her arms around his neck, "What's wrong? Were you flirting with another woman and didn't want me to know it?"

James looked down at Angela who didn't seem to hear anything.

Holding her waist, James asked with a slight smile, "Are you jealous?"

"Yes," said Angela as she struggled to smile while her body was trembling, "you are that perfect."

Angela had no idea why James schemed against her mother.

With a chuckle, James lowered his head to kiss Angela.

Feeling disgusted in mind, Angela pushed him away subconsciously.

With a certain distance between them, neither of them spoke.

"Someone may see us kissing in the office," explained Angela softly under the suspicious gaze of James.

Angela couldn't tell if James believed what she said or not from his face as there was no change in his expression.

James didn't get closer to her. Instead, he returned to his chair and asked, "Why do you suddenly come to me?"

"I'm just...missing you," said Angela as she struggled to smile but failed.

Her heart ached as if pierced by a knife.

Looking at the red eyes of Angela, James frowned. He stood up to come next to her, wiping away her tears and asking, "You are wronged?"

Hearing it, Angela was even more painful.

With a sigh, James cupped her face in his hand, lowering his head to kiss away the tears on her face and asking, "What's wrong?"

Angela compressed her lips and the tears flowing down into her mouth tasted bitter.

Grabbing his shirt and burying her head in his chest, Angela felt difficult to breathe.

"What's wrong?" asked James as he held the chin of Angela to force her to look at him, "How can I take revenge for you if you don't tell me who has bullied you?"

As James looked so sincere when he was uttering these words, Angela blurted out on an impulse, "It's you who has bullied me! How will you take revenge for me?"

Angela regretted as soon as she uttered these words.

But with the last expectation of James, Angela asked frankly, "James, did you have anything to do with the death of my mom?"

James just looked at her and didn't speak for quite a while.

"So you had something to do with it, didn't you?" asked Angela as her heart sank.

Thinking for a moment, James replied, "You can say so."

At the moment, Angela was so cold as if falling into the ice house. She looked at James in disbelief and asked with trembling lips, "Why?"

Drooping his eyelids, James was thinking about something and didn't respond immediately.

Stroking her belly, Angela staggered and almost fell on the ground as she blacked out and fell into a pair of wide and familiar arms.
